I remember playing this game in 2007 when I was 9 y.o. Peter Jackson's King Kong on PS2 was a childhood challenge yet the complexity made it engaging, and the game's design encouraged replayability with creative mechanics. Fond memories of exploring Skull Island!
Same here, GameCube player and man was this game TOUGH for a teen/kid. Have such fond memories of this game, makes me want to go back to Skull Island, one last time.
I always loved the balance of playing as Jack and feeling like prey with limited ammo etc, to playing as Kong and having an absolute power trip. Thanks for playing this gem of a game hollow, cheers !
You were right when you said it was ahead of its time man… from the atmosphere, to the graphics and cinematography to the freakin dinosaur battles and playing as Kong!!! The sheer fun factor of it all!!! Legendary game right here. Thankyou for showcasing it ✊🏽
You can save a lot of ammo just letting monsters either fight each other or using dead animals as bait. I was reminiscing the good days playing this and how well the mechanics and puzzles blend with the seamless art design, and then it hit me. Peter Jackson reached out to the creator of *Rayman* Michele Ansel and that's one reason this game is so perfect.
This game was such a masterpiece during its time, back when Ubisoft was actually a good dev. I remember getting this alongside NFSMW. Best of times as a kid 🔥
hollow you honestly just unlocked a childhood core memory of playing this game with my siblings! thank you for playing and reminding me how amazing this game is. ❤😭 I’m honestly surprised that they never remastered it for the PS5
Glad you finished it. One of the most underrated hidden gems in gaming. I remember when this came out it had the best graphics I'd seen on PS2 apart from maybe MGS2. The reason it's so good for a movie game is it was develeoped by a AAA studio with a great track record, which is not often the case.
YES !!!! They need to remake it from the ground up and make it even better by making the levels longer and giving us more enemies to fight and make the graphics look as realistic as possible like the new “INSTINCTION” game.
@@AUM_-po9sc is it no longer called Ubisoft anymore ? The people who are creating the new INSTINCTION game could definitely remake King Kong and do it right because their upcoming INSTINCTION game looks like it’s going to be awesome.
This was my favorite game on my PS2 when i was a kid. I was also a huge fan of the movie, still am. Glad to see this game getting the recognition it deserves
This game has always been the golden standard for me when it comes to videogame adaptations of movies or any other work really. Unique game mechanics, story that largely follows the same ideas and beats as the original but with specific tweaks and perspectives that translates better for a videogame, all of which helping out to create an environment that feels as if though it sucks you straight into the world of the original work it was based off of and then even has a bonus ending giving you a potential seperate happier ending as a reward for your hard work. (If you get enough points throughout the levels you unlock a seperate ending that differs from the movie ending!) Honestly a hidden gem and an unforgettable experience!
Maybe it's because it's a newer system playing the game, but the fact that the V-Rex now appears to move even faster in the 1st Person sections is scaring me even more. That thing terrified me as a kid and now it's faster too?! Thanks, the continuing progress of gaming technology! Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for playing! Reminded me of how awesome this game was at its release. I still remember the fear and uneasiness of the tribespeople and the world. Agreed that this game could do for a remaster.
This game will always have a special place in my heart. I rented this for months on end at blockbuster back in the day because I could never for the life of me get past the part where towards the end as kong you have to fight the worms or whatever they were in the mountain. Ah the days before TH-cam haha
Watching you play this has been a big nostalgia trip for me. Id say after rewatching the film, the game was much better to revisit. I remember crying angry tears that kong in new york who you played as was inching closer and closer to what i believed at the time a pointless death. I really didnt want to finish the game knowing the ending
Wow 😮I wish I watched that movie for the first time again … it was such a great movie and experience when I saw it back in 2005 at the theaters!! You are in for a ride 😎 enjoy
You should try to get the Alternative ending too! Were you have to shoot down the airplanes and help him survive / but you can also kill him yourself while you are on the airplane but if he survives you can go back to the island for a last time and visit him.
I loved watching you experience everything for the first time; brought me back and makes me want to go back to the island one more time. I will say, as someone who played it many times on GameCube, the facial animations are lacking here with the Xbox port, which really surprised me. Kong's face and Ann's face are animated in the GameCube port...but the rest of the graphics (aside from the glitched grass textures and the natives at times) are stunning. You can tell this game was not meant to be played on +30 FPS, because most of the interactions are meant to be drawn out and methodical. With 60 FPS, things are sped up, dialogue is missed, and cinematics run far shorter. Anyways: it was fun watching you play through this game. Be safe, friend.
Played through this game probably over a hundred times as a kid, know it like the back of my hand. It was entertaining to see your experience through it all 😁
I remember this game from when I was a kid and I KNOW the natives to the island were darker than they are in this one. MUCH darker. It’s weird seeing them almost vampire like now lmao
Thats what I’m saying!! I knew i wasnt alone… they were dark and skinnier. Fit the creepy environment imo. Im more than sure they changed to please the woke crowd 😪
I played this on xbox and there's was a few differences for me character model wise. The bat enemies had weird green eyes and strange stubby beaks, the black raptors where shrunken darker versions of the v rex and King kong looked more like the cover, less Derby and without a scar on his back
am I the only one who got freaked by the swamp scene?!?! that was a disturbing scene it definitely turn the narrative of the survivors thinking they were going to die
I use to play the game myself back in the day and really enjoyed it. When I seen you play it I wanted to watch the movie too so my husband and I started it last night and finishing it off tonight. Thanks for playing it and I'm glad you enjoyed it yourself, keep up the great work!!

Hollow thanks for being back my childhood along with Turok I played hundreds of hours of these games before GTA & Ark came out which I spent thousands of hours on. So nostalgic
My favorite park of this game was always the 1 V 3 against the V-rexes. When you kill the last one and Kong does that final roar of victory. Just so roping and loud. It gives me chills everytime
This movie and game will always go down as the best king kong experience I had a great time following you play this whole series it brought me back to when I was a kid playing threw it on ps2
Awesome fact ! The King Kong Movie DVD edition that ended up in my house had a 2nd disc of Bonus features - and one of the bonus features was about 1 hour worth of behind the scenes "making of" footage for the video game! The King Kong game was SOO much bigger originally! It was supposed to be a 2 disc video game, but they decided to cut the content down to 1 disc. There were like 20 unique monsters, more "copy/paste" scenes from the movie, and the New York section was originally much longer. The BTS footage showed dozens and dozens of concept arts for monsters and environments. It also showed the Motion Capture process used to animate Kong's movement, as well as the cast doing some voice acting. There is a BTS video for the game on TH-cam today - but it is completely different to the footage that was on that 2nd bonus disc. I've never seen any of the content from that 2nd disc anywhere else.
Hollow needs to realise respectfully the more you upload videos without videocam showing the less your views will get, we all want to see your reactions for the games not just the game
Does the PC version not have the short cutscenes between missions? I remember them on the PS2 version and really felt they enhanced the story, but noticed they weren't in your series.
As a kid playing this, it was so daunting of a task because all I've played were mario games and such, now i was on skull island and boy did it feel intimidating
Hey dude I have a game Suggestion, would you play through all of COD Zombies? I didn’t play the early games so I’ve never bothered getting into the story but I’d like too
What’s so unique about this game is that it has a secret ending where you can save Kong and take him back to Skull Island.
How do you get it

Except for Hayes. He was voiced by the same man who voiced Luther in Detroit become human.

The giant snake things in Kong's lair are a nod to the original King Kong movie in black and white. He fights a giant snake like creature in his lair.
