    Divorce Attorney here. This is a difficult topic that I often have to discuss with my clients, especially when it seemingly comes out of nowhere. The best advice I have to give is to turn to prayer and put one foot in front of the other because there's a Perfect Plan for us imperfect people.

  • @GrimesFinds
    @GrimesFinds 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Went through the exact thing. 7.5 years and she decided to leave. I prayed everyday up until the ink dried that she would change her heart. After that, I still prayed for her and now me and my wife of 9 years pray for her and her husband.

    "You've got to be open to moving on." I believe this might be my favorite piece of advice from this episode. So many of us get stuck in life because we won't allow ourselves to be open to to opportunities of being unstuck.

    I listened to the podcast and Granger you said something I never thought of. Danielle the woman still hurting 6 years after losing her Mom and what you said. That she loved her Mom so much that her Mom was so worthful. That hit me I lost my Mom 7 years ago and I haven't thought of it that way. I had a wonderful Mom and I was blessed.

    "Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but can not. All the unspent love gathering in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in their hallow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
 -Unknown
    This quote has helped me with grieving! Like you said, it’s a form of love!

    For those who are seeing the title and calling it clickbait or thinking this is in reference to Granger's marriage, I'm guessing you're new here. Granger regularly creates a title for these that comes from one of the topics sent in from a viewer that will be discussed in the episode. Looking forward to a great episode.

      Dated in highschool.
      Married 11 years.
      3 children together.
      Told the same thing.
      Now, 12 years later i just celebrated my 11 year an anniversary with my new wife. I am happier, and life is better.
      I went through hell, but my kids that I was so worried about are doing great.
      I kept one son through it all and everything worked out
      It will be tough, the toughest you have ever experienced.
      Just remember that she is not on your side anymore, and take care of yourself. Only through your strength can you help your new family through this.

    So thankful for your podcast & all your amazing guests. The marriage question was one I can relate to. Been married for 37 years to my high-school sweetheart. We have been through so much heartache & tragedies. Our oldest son passed at 23 from a motorcycle accident, then 4 yrs later our youngest flipped his track & was paralyzed from it. Our marriage seems to have fallen apart from these tragedies. There's no communication between us. We are strangers living in the same house. I know God has a plan & I continue to have faith & hope that our marriage will someday he healed. Thanks so much for all your wisdom & kindness to each of us. God bless.

    • @jenlindler3045
      @jenlindler3045 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I truly don’t think that would be something we would learn about from a podcast anyway. We would definitely notice differences in this family before that ever happened. I also don’t think Granger would say “she wants a divorce”. Heaven forbid if that ever happened it would be a joint, mutual decision and it would probably be presented by them together. But we’re not gonna think about that anymore!!!!!

  • @focusongrowth4755

    I am holding onto these two nuggets:
    1. Christian ‘Bible says an idle mind can be deceitful. Encourage you to get busy’. Granger ‘Grief is a thief.’ Makes me think of Granger building that rock wall by the pond, two years ago. I am going to have to replay that episode as Granger had such a great saying about that.
    2. Bible...definition of a Fathers Leadership - I am still blown away at how Granger lead his family through the most challenging time of their lives with Riv’s fast pass to heaven. God first, it was so incredible to witness how they leaned in together. London and Lincoln have a childhood! Life didn’t freeze in grief. The Smiths seem to keep piling on meaning in River’s honor.

    • @elainehardy3502
      @elainehardy3502 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FocusonGrowth , that's something you had written about Granger's rock wall and in their TH-cam video today the water had washed it away.

    • @focusongrowth4755
      @focusongrowth4755 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@elainehardy3502 God has amazing timing, doesn’t he? I am still looking for that video when Granger started building that rock wall. This evening, I fast forwarded through 10 videos and had to pause to reflect on their journey. Amber with her closet confessions, Granger’s keeping busy with manual labor and guiding his family forward. I know God was always at the center of their family but you can just see their faith building and bursting out. They are making Riv’s 1000 days hold meaning that words can’t even quantify!

    Marriage is hard. My husband and I married at 18 and he was 20. We had no idea what we were getting into. We had no clue that we both had no idea who we were. It was the worst first 5 years and it slowly got better and then worse and then better. We almost separated for good back in January. I was done. I didnt want it anymore. But he fought for us and I chose to not shut him out and now things have been great. You both have to want it and both actively work at it. *added we will have been married for 8 years in june.

    I’ve been going thru some stuff and I just want to know where I get tickets for your show on July 31st. I don’t even remember the town. It’s some river ruckus place I’ve never heard of. I just want to enjoy a mini vacation with my Husband.

    My wife and partner of 8 and i just separated in April was not my choice I literally did everything I could but nothing was enough. I feel like I failed and it's the worst feeling I've had since the first few mo ths after my deployment in 2012. Divorce is by far the worst feeling I've felt. I am doing the best I can to remain upright and trust the lord but the hurt and desire to get her back won't go away. I know she wants nothing to.do with me and she's told me she doesn't want to try again she's done. It just makes no sense we have 3 kids together and it really wasn't what I wanted for my 5 year anniversary and our 8th year together overall

      I'm so sorry for your pain. My husband of 26 years walked out and never even gave me a chance to save our marriage. I was completely blind-sided. The rejection and betrayal is so unbelievably hard to handle and overcome, but I did it by fully surrendering to God and His greater plan for my life. It has been almost 2 years now, and I still look back and can't believe this happened and how I could have missed the signs. But God has been with me every step of the way, and I'm on the other side of the pain. You will get through this by leaning on God. Find a community of believers to talk to and other people who understand your pain. Validation helps a lot.

    Daniell think about all the positive memories you have about your Mom. Thank God for ALL the things your Mom gave you, all the things she left you, all the values she passed on to you. Praise God for who your Mom was to you. Praise God for who she made you to be. Yes get involved in a group or organization that would honor your Moms memory. May God Bless you richly.
