I wouldn't ask to be born in a different country. You know the Chinese who come to Africa mock us and makes fun of us saying, you believe in God because you are poor. I say Yes. The kingdom of God belongs to the lowly. The more content in this life you are, the more you think you don't need God.
Yes, here in Kenya we are eagerly waiting upon the Lord, trusting Him for a mighty revival and outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We already are walking in it, praise God!
This pastor is an amazing man of God. I am African, I have wrestled with such thoughts. I have never heard a pastor (both black or white) speak with such compassion, empathy and authority on this subject. May God bless him.
Pastor John, your ways of taking a heavy and heated topic and tackling then head on, whilst also showing caring and your ability to put yourself in others shoes is really something to learn from! 😀💕👊🇦🇺
Here in Uganda, a friend of mine has asked me this same question. And he is devastated because no matter where he looks, the answer he gets is always negative. Unfortunately, he looks for it in the world and not in the Bible.
Yes that's sad. Many seek an answer to their problem from the world and find nothing at the end. If only they look at the cross of Jesus, everything will have a meaning.
Ecclesiastes 5:8 King James Version (KJV) 8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.
When the values of Christianity make their way into your government institutions then you will see real change. The people in power have got to be real believes like the leaders of Europe use to be. Then they will stop stealing from you and selling your country to foreigners because they will truly see and understand how ungodly that its.
Interestingly, someone in Africa is more likely to be a Christian than someone in the West. The church is growing in many African countries whilst the West is predominatly post-Christian. For example, your average Anglican is a 20 year old African woman. There is however the massive threat of the prosperity gospel, which John Piper has warned about before. There have been some Africans who've been mightily used by the Lord, such as St. Augustine.
@@symlexbrn5396 this is the frightening truth. Word of Faith churches are going en masse to Africa preaching their “American gospel” and it’s devastating.
@@melindamercier6811 Don’t let it bother you to much. God is sovereign and will not let any children be swept from his hand. I’ve been tempted to be frustrated but then I remember that we can only spread the seed and water it, but God himself chooses whether to grow that seed. Anyone lost in that fake gospel that shouldn’t be, will always find their way to the truth. I’d rather those perishing to be lost in the prosperity gospel than Islam and trying to murder true children of God. Of course I’d rather all of the world be real Christians but God will have mercy on whom he wishes as he said. God bless you
The continent was ravaged by centuries of colonialism, economic imperialism, and the loss of millions to the Transatlantic Slave Trade during the same time when Western cultures directly benefited from these practices. I'm not downplaying any of Pastor John's answer, but these grim historical realities have had lasting consequences and cannot be overlooked. Much of the suffering Africa experiences today is the long-term result of human greed and unrelenting exploitation, the fruits of our abuse of free will.
God gave africans a land full of wealth, resources and green pastures, the wealthiest land of all. How was that not love. And then Jesus said be happy are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. The one that is first in the kingdom must be your slave. Even he came to serve so much so, He as God, washed the feet of His desciples. Did he not leave an example of humility and meekness, did he not show us the way to get to him? Are his words not true. We should pray for more of His Spirit, his Spirit of Truth, the Spirit who is the Comforter.
I think at the present time we should probably see Africa as an unusually BLESSED part of the world. The number of Christians there is enormous, and gaining salvation is vastly more important than any temporal blessings.
I would wish it were true...most Christians here are being deceived by false pastors who are preaching gain is godliness and preaching the prosperity gospel because of the condition and the state of things here in Africa .. Pastors in Africa are the richest pastors in the world especially Nigeria pastors.. Christians here are being lead away from the Holiness , they only need and ask for breakthrough, blessings, success and an easy and comfortable life .. they preach the old testament and promise the people that God has a plan to bless you and prosper you.. everyone wants a way out of this hardship and poverty so they come to Jesus for this transformation not to deliver them from the power of sin and the power of the grave and to receive eternal life
@@brandedforchrist I do accept your point that there is a lot of false Christianity in Africa. But there is a lot of genuine faith too. In the past I have known some really great Christian people from Uganda.

I once got home from work. I was exhausted, but I sat in a seat and the very thought came to my mind, "Why do Africans have to suffer the way that they do?" I began to ask God about this, but I was so tired that I fell asleep as I was talking to God. Suddenly, I heard a loud voice say, "Something beautiful will come out of it!" And I was jolted out of my sleep. I often wonder what God meant by that.

A reformed Anglican lover of Christ all the way from South Africa I’m encouraged in knowing that God has a remnant from every people and tribe every nation and tongue glory to the Lamb and may God continue saving His Bride, His Church in Africa ♥️ loved this thanks for the question and response
*After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,* _Revelation 7:9 NKJV_
Africa has its very own problem of ancestral worship. I am from Africa and the majority of "Christians" here do traditional believes joined with Christianity.
The Catholic Church absorbs traditions and symbology from other religions as well. Statues of Zeus, Apollo and Athena in the Vatican, An Egyptian Obelisk, Sibyls and more. African was not cursed, but colonized.
European Christians have been doing the same since christianity came to Europe. As one person mentioned this is perfectly seen in Catholics. Even John Piper in this rather dishonest response to the question, not dare speak the absolute truth of his ancestors involvement In the sacking of Africa and both its physical and mentally maiming. He honours his ancestors via his actions, then being truthful.
I was crying about this last night . I think we have been cursed. But also maybe since we are the last here , will be the first there . Or because we are humbled here we may be exalted there . Provided we be in Christ of course.
Truth be told when you read the bible and read about the people spread to the corners of the world you will see that it is us. I think it's Isaiah 11:12. God punished Israel for its disobedience. We put Jesus's death on our heads and the heads of our children was said while it was being decided whether or not to crucify him. Do your own research and see where Jesus is from. Learn yourself about where True Semitic people are from and what they looked like. I will give you a hint the people who are calling their selves Jews today are from South Russia. A place called Khazaria Once you get that full understanding you will understand why more people in Africa are returning to Christ. He said we will have to and that we will. A bodybuilder builds muscles because his muscles are broken down. Once broken down they begin to weave and layer to take shape and build strength. We in turn become stronger in Christ because once we see that we are broken and cannot fix it as man we become stronger through him and our faith grows through him and when we follow we become saved. And I thank God for that! God does nothing without purpose. For everyone he gives a path. I choose Yeshua.
It's not just Africa but the black race in general. Something is very wrong. Look everywhere black people are. They are either enslaved economically, like in Africa and America, geographically like in South Africa and India, or generally treated as less in everyway. No one can explain this yet no one can deny it.
@@brianhines3816 We are not isrealites. We are hamites and we are cursed from when Noah cursed his son Hams child , Canaan. Genesis 9:23-26 23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. 24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. 25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. 26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
Gods providence is not in question here. If you think Africans suffer more physically than any other people group, that’s not Gods fault but ours as the human race. Sin through us humans is a big reason why people suffer.
@@mourice1669 absolutely not!! I’m African American. And I never said Africans are more sinful or most sinful. I said all of humanity is sinful. We have free will and if we sin it’s because we choose it. God is not to blame for sin. But he rather gave his only son to take the punishment for sin so that we might be in right relationship with the him!
I agree, and I dare utter the words, that Africa is a blessed place, that through their sufferings, they know the value of the cross and they hunger for the return of Jesus.
The bible talks about freedom and prosperity as blessings. I wish above all things that you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers. I have come that to set the captives free.... If those are not blessings I don't know what is. Both of these are conspicuously absent in Africa.
@@evadtrent5607 and yet none of the disciples had the material prosperity that you speak of. Our freedom comes from the blood that Jesus spilled on that tree to free us from the bondage of death. Our greatest blessing is that we have salvation through Jesus Christ. Like our brothers and sisters in the persecuted church, the Iranian church dying for the sake of Jesus, our in N. Korea and more. Philippians 3:7-8 7But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.
Thanks Pastor John for reminding us that God's ways are not our ways, and his thoughts are higher than ours. All we can do is trust his providence and abide in him.
@ Katlego Molokoe Read the whole chapter in its entirety and immediate context and you will understand the REAL MEANING of the verse you quoted. Making God responsible for human suffering is evil. That’s what Satan does!
@@DA-yd2ny you clearly seem to be quick to oppose and criticize so people would do what you think is right. Nobody said God is being made responsible for human suffering. In fact the scripture in James 1:27 does state that God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone. But there's the other portion that you also need to be mindful of, and that is God is Sovereign. And due to His Sovereignty, he does allow, not cause, but allow certain situations to occur, for his greater purposes that you and I cannot fathom. For example, Africans may have suffered a lot more, or be likely to be disregarded a lot more, but many Africans have gave their lives to Christ. Why is that so? Simply because God is Rich in Mercy, and purposes. Satan may do one thing, but God is Sovereign, and he will use any situation for his own purposes. So therefore, His ways ARE simply not our own ways, and so is his thoughts not our thoughts. Overall, May His Will be done, after all, He is the Alpha and Omega!
@@katlegomolokoe4437 Thank you for carving out time to explain your point of view. But again read Isiah 55 in it it’s entirety and you will see that you can know for certain what God’s way are. They are very simple as far as his dealings with us are concerned. He doesn’t talk in secrets with us. Again, Isiah 55:8 has been taken out of context and miss interpreted. READ THE ENTIRE CHAPTER AND PONDER ABOUT IT!! We determine our wellbeing wit our choices! We determine our eternal destiny with our choice of accepting God’s FREE GIFT of eternal life or reject it. LIFE OR DEATH IS FOR US TO CHOOSE. Many times choosing God’s way leads us to suffer. Jesus asked God THREE TIMES to remove the cup from him.
One of the things I have wrestled with before and after coming to faith in Jesus is the subject of evil, suffering, and God's sovereignty and providence amidst all that. I still don't understand much but one thing I am fully persuaded of is that God is good. Take the world but give me Jesus is my heart's cry ever.🙏🙏
Amazing, fantastic, spot on answer-- giving plenty of biblical references-- rooted in sound doctrine, and greatly weighed on the Providence of Yahshua! As it is written: "Our El is in the heavens. He hath done whatsoever has pleased Him" - Psalm 115:3. His mercy endures forever!!!
I have been in South Africa all my life. It's hard out here. If you aren't rich, you have to work hard and in some cases work together with family to cover the expenses of daily living. Not to mention the fact that this country is infested with crime and corruption. I don't want to leave, however it does seem inevitable. But when I see the state of countries that I could immigrate to, it all seems relative. Wherever you go, there will be challenges to face. The safest place to be is in God's will (regardless of which country you are in). It comes down to trusting God during the journey.
If we answer the title question directly, in the last 500 years Africans have suffered by the hands of European and western exploitation. Before the Scramble for Africa, their were rich Kingdoms in Africa like Mali and Benin. The continent is full of resources and food. The prime reason why some areas are hungry or desperate now is due to capitalism. Just because God allows something doesn't mean his morally okay with it. The same God that allows you to be thirsty, he also made water to quench it. Even if the Christian faith is growing in Africa, we must still invoke the good samaritan sentiment and seek justice and equity for improved lifestyle.
I have had the opportunity to speak with Ugandans by way of Facebook since mid-2019. My communication has mostly been with Christians. Uganda is under a dictatorship by a man who calls himself, "president". He has demonstrated his brutality to anyone who would try to replace him in elections. This past January saw bloody riots. I've also spoken to people in Kenya, and I have read about the extreme brutality by their police to a family who even deigns to walk out on their porch for some air while in lockdown. I've grown up in-and-around black culture here in New York. I am Latino of Puerto Rican descent. I admit that I often wonder about this question. The things I've seen and heard about are so grieving. I agree with Pastor Piper's very leveled and biblical understanding, but I admit that I yearn for the people of Uganda and Africa to receive more help where necessary. I do yearn for the wicked to put in their place today (African or not). I think we need to be very careful as Christians to "avoid" blessing someone of a darker complexion, because there is so much need. If nothing else, a kind word or a listening ear. There are Ugandans with dreams and hopes-- I know, because I talk to them. I pray with them. I ask anyone reading this to pray for them too. Thank you.
Jesus, persecution and death had purpose to redeem the world it was prophesied and he is knew about it. Paul was also persecuted for preaching the gospel ( he knew that and this why he rejoiced in it) but before that he was an educated well off guy. Africans whether Christian or not are suffering and it has nothing to with their salvation. Israel being one of the most rebellious nation God still made a plan to deliver them from hundreds of years of suffering and oppression and not just spiritually but they walked out with wealth from Egypt to land flowing with more richness they didn't even work for.
This was such a great answer and question for Gods Providence. ESPECIALLY in this Woke age, where even Christians are being decieved. All we can do is keep preaching the Gospel, and pray for more grace and Mercy to carry the nations through.
A great non-answer, if he was honest he would simply say “God Hates black people, because he can, get over it and worship him lest you go to hell” that’s an honest rendering of the issue
I am also from Africa. Let's put this way, God loves Africa as much as He loves Afghanistan. Africa's prosperity or the prosperity of Afghanistan is not God's priority on this Earth. The massive infant mortality in Africa will not be solved by "God's love".
At 4:12, "None of us deserves to live in the presence of God, before God, in relation to God. Therefore, none of us deserves to live well before God, in relation to God. Nobody, anywhere in the world, no matter their hardship, is being wronged by the just and all-holy God." I am reminded of the parable Laborers in the Vineyard.
We cannot measure God’s love for us by our condition here in the earth. The Israelites were enslaved in Egypt for over 400 years. All but one of the disciples were martyred . Millions throughout history have endured hardship even death for the cause of Christ. Would we consider them cursed or forgotten by God? For those of us living in ease and luxury (myself included) I am reminded of Matthew 19:24-26 Jesus said it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.... however through God all things are possible. For my Christian African brothers and sisters who are suffering and may feel forgotten by God... I would encourage you with Matthew 20:16 the last will be first and the first shall be last.
God does not hate Africans or black people. He is calling us to repent our sins and to believe on him only. The devil is busy destroying us with lies like these. The only way to be blessed is to repent and believe.
I agree with this response . This is aggravated by the health , wealth and prosperity gospel that has confused the church and taught that the more money u have, the more blessed u are and the less the more God has forsaken u .
Wow incredible insight. I’ve often wondered about this issue! Especially as an American, feeling guilty for the comforts we have in light of the suffering of so many Africans.
I envy Pastor John for his deep spiritual insight, his God's desiring spirit is probably the most admiral spiritual mind opening for me. I comfortably look up to him as a great humbled servant & a role model for my side of desiring God 🇹🇿 tz.
The premise of the question is ABSOLUTELY wrong: "Throughout history we have been a beastly, deplorable, enslavable race…" The Bible says otherwise. Kemet (Egypt) was the first great world power, Black Africans. Science, mathematics, art, etc were developed in sub-Saharan Africa millenia ago. We are a very accomplished people with a history that has been deliberately destroyed, misappropriated, and minimized by Europeans for their economic gain.
This is a thought that has been lingering on my mind for a while. This answer has given me another perspective, particularly as I have been studying suffering and how the new testament admonishes us to respond to it. Thanks Pastor John.
I’m confused by the question because I don’t know a continent who hasn’t experienced hardship, who hasn’t done evil to its people or others. I think this question is a reflection of White Supremacy being transported all over the world. Also a lot of African suffering is due to Colonialism which isn’t something Africans did to themselves or God. Finally, why is this entire vast continent constantly being spoken of like it’s a small country. This isn’t the entire African experience. Another point, why would Satan bother himself with people already on their way to hell. So sometimes people aren’t being tempted because it’s not strategic for Satan, or tested because they don’t belong to God.
When you repeat this to African parents whose children have died or are dying of starvation and/or easily preventable diseases, you'll understand, immediately, that this explanation is not sufficient. The challenge is to prevent the next generation of African children from suffering from that fate, not a passive acceptance of "God's will is for Africans and their children to suffer more than anyone else at this present time, for some future glory". That, I will not accept. There's nothing in the Bible that suggests that working hard to prevent my community from suffering from disease, malnutrition or hunger is "un-Christian". That, I will focus on, even though for some reason, God appears to favor others a lot more than he favors Africans. If we die trying, at least we tried doing something. Not this passive acceptance of our fate.
God detests Whitchcraft that is in Africa but on a Sunday when you drive past churches and see Africans come out of churches in droves...young , old..my heart is filled with love towards Africans and I am filled with Godly pride towards Africans.
For God so loved the "world" that he gave his only begotten son, that "whoever" believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. - John 3:16
My two cents is: - God cares for Africans as much as He does for other nations and I think it pains Him to the core to see the injustices and suffering happening around the world - But God works through people here on earth to move them to bring out change and the church is meant play that role but it can only do so much. There are other powers at play of politicians, governments and greedy wealthy corporations who play a role in keeping Africa in the state it is. - Therefore the only way for Him finally intervene once and for all is at the second coming of Jesus when He literally comes back to get rid of everything and put an end to it all. - Now until that day comes we surrender our lives to Jesus and by His wisdom, guidance and Spirit and the transformation He's done in our lives ask Him to guide us to be 'salt and light' in the best way we can to our neighbours.
I was born in Africa. I don't regret because africans are spiritually blessed as opposed to the west who are materially blessed. Which is better? I thank God that I was born in Africa.
And why don't I find this comforting in anyway? Personally I have always believed that there is something wrong with Africans, I don't know whether it's a curse or not, some sort of negative energy or forces just lurking nearby wanting to put us in our place.... If you understand what I am trying to say.
I'm Anglo-African. I love listening to sermons in the English language. White Christians have their own doctrine and way of doing things. So, I listen to many African American preachers because of their theology, but also because they speak English as their first language. Many white people do, too. Suddenly, I got it. As horrible as it may sound, out of the heart-breaking experience of slavery came light and what a wonderful light. African Americans became Christians. They also became American citizens, contributing to the worldwide culture and faith. No devil can take that away from them!
Thanks...I needed to hear this. Listened from Kenya 🇰🇪. I struggled with this question for 10 years now...like what's wrong with us?....are we cursed? Did we do something unforgivable in our past? But God is good and there's hope for the living. We are alive...so we have hope in God.
I am a white lady from Zimbabwe ( farmers) now living in RSA. one can't even explain the brutality of war etc many different beliefs, an atmosphere of hostility....I have also asked what was I doing so wrong! at 62yrs we have great opposition cause there is great opportunity in Africa, so hang in we are being hand picked one by one... Bless you all....
I would say human choices too. God gives us choices and human beings choose to do evil to others.. colonialism, neocolonialism, corruption, bad leadership etc
Wow! What a beautifully edifying and thoughtful answer! I thank God for the wisdom, unique insights and pragmatic balance you always provide in your comments!
His 3rd point is a cop out. Whenever we see people suffering that much we see a people under the pressure of the white people. His 4th point is also a cop out. Africa everywhere is blessed with talents and so many examples of God's grace. My personal point is that God has put us under the spotlight so that through us he can share his gifts with the world.
I would have personally turned the question around, why does Satan hate Africans so much. Satan is no match for God and can't go against him directly, so he goes after things God loves. Just like the supervillain in films often won't go after the hero directly, but after the people the hero loves.
I think it is the other way around! I believe GOD dearly loves Africa and the devil knows it, and have made our life hell! But, God's blessings remains in Africa, as we are blessed to know and depend on GOD always fro our help and salvation! Knowing GOD as we African do, is the greatest blessings of all!
Thank you. I never thought of this. God's ways are not our ways, His thoughts are greater than our thoughts. Jesus have mercy on us all and we repent of our sins and we believe you are God.
As a Believer and a descendant of slaves bright to America from West Africa, I can assure you that God provides and intervenes for those of His Elect, without regard to race, location, status or environment. No matter where you live, God is the same Creator God who has numbered every hair on our heads, and shepherds all Believers through this earth in which we are pilgrims and strangers seeking a better place. That place of course is in Heaven with our Creator, Saviour and Supreme King. Don't dwell on the ups and downs of this fallen earth which has been cursed as outlined in Revelation 18. Instead focus on Revelation 21 which describes the Heaven that awaits us. This is our true Home.
Africa is one of the most blessed continent. Land full of diamonds 💎 most gold deposits, most minerals. This continent is rich with life and wild life.
Thank you pastor John for answering this question from Jason in Uganda with the truth of his word. As a Black African from Kenya and having lived studied and worked in the US, i must admit this question has been asked by many African and Black people. However I have never once viewed African or Black people as being any less loved by God than other peoples. This question frankly irritates me but your response has helped me provide a response to such self hating questions and perspectives.
Hi SA here... to Jason, the guy who asked this question ... I'm pink not black but anyway in prayer one can't help but cry and get sortof angry at God for suffering of the cold, abused, hungry, and seems rejected people like u say most of Africa. So I always pray please end their suffering but rather save their souls than end their suffering if that's the way. I see this post is old, but love u for ur soft questioning heart
I am a believer in The God of the Bible and confess that Jesus is Lord full stop. But I still wonder. I guess if I was born in the 300th year of Israel’s 400 year Egyptian slavery I’d be wondering then too. The Jews were enslaved and we know that God still loves them according to His covenant. My salvation frees me to trust in the sovereign wisdom of God without needing all my questions answered. But as a black man I sometimes scratch my head over this. There are 2 biblical instances where we know that God took issue with Africans. Egypt (enslaving Hebrews) and Canaan ( “ Cursed be Canaan). It’s definitely the elephant in the room that preachers don’t touch.
One of Noah's sons, Ham, had a son called Mizraim (in Latin Aegyptus) who founded Egypt. Blacks aren't responsible for the enslavement of Hebrews in Egypt because Egypt was a white heathen nation that followed after false gods. Now a lot of Blacks worship these same gods refashioned after thousands of years. And most Hamites lived in Africa but Hamites aren't black That is a twisting of scripture and history
I wouldn't ask to be born in a different country. You know the Chinese who come to Africa mock us and makes fun of us saying, you believe in God because you are poor. I say Yes. The kingdom of God belongs to the lowly. The more content in this life you are, the more you think you don't need God.
Given how many Africans are turning to the Lord at the present time, I would see Africa as probably an unusually blessed part of the world.

Couldn’t have said this any better 🙏🏿
Here in Uganda, a friend of mine has asked me this same question. And he is devastated because no matter where he looks, the answer he gets is always negative. Unfortunately, he looks for it in the world and not in the Bible.
Yes that's sad. Many seek an answer to their problem from the world and find nothing at the end. If only they look at the cross of Jesus, everything will have a meaning.
Ecclesiastes 5:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Augustine.
The problem is its now dominated by prosperity churches that are preaching heresy

The Good Ship Jesus
God gave africans a land full of wealth, resources and green pastures, the wealthiest land of all. How was that not love. And then Jesus said be happy are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. The one that is first in the kingdom must be your slave. Even he came to serve so much so, He as God, washed the feet of His desciples. Did he not leave an example of humility and meekness, did he not show us the way to get to him? Are his words not true. We should pray for more of His Spirit, his Spirit of Truth, the Spirit who is the Comforter.

Great answer. Thank God for saving many believers in these days from Africa, and from all over the world.

Africa has its very own problem of ancestral worship. I am from Africa and the majority of "Christians" here do traditional believes joined with Christianity.
The problem of some african countries is that we tend to put culture above God.
Yeah...
The Catholic Church absorbs traditions and symbology from other religions as well. Statues of Zeus, Apollo and Athena in the Vatican, An Egyptian Obelisk, Sibyls and more. African was not cursed, but colonized.
That's the fucking most annoying thing and they prosper
European Christians have been doing the same since christianity came to Europe. As one person mentioned this is perfectly seen in Catholics. Even John Piper in this rather dishonest response to the question, not dare speak the absolute truth of his ancestors involvement In the sacking of Africa and both its physical and mentally maiming. He honours his ancestors via his actions, then being truthful.
I was crying about this last night . I think we have been cursed.
But also maybe since we are the last here , will be the first there . Or because we are humbled here we may be exalted there . Provided we be in Christ of course.
Read ROMANS 9-26. I read it today and it helped me to understand these things.
@@evadtrent5607 There is a TON of research on all of this. What you're preaching is not true.
@@brianhines3816 We are not isrealites. We are hamites and we are cursed from when Noah cursed his son Hams child , Canaan.
Genesis 9:23-26

24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
Gods providence is not in question here. If you think Africans suffer more physically than any other people group, that’s not Gods fault but ours as the human race. Sin through us humans is a big reason why people suffer.
Amen! This is the absolute truth!
🙏 amen
So you are saying Africans are more sinful than the Chinese 🥺or the Europeans etc
What a question! What an answear! It reminds me of the conversation between God and Job
Prosperity and freedom is not necessarily a blessing.
I agree, and I dare utter the words, that Africa is a blessed place, that through their sufferings, they know the value of the cross and they hunger for the return of Jesus.
Amen
But mostly it is.
Philippians 3:7-8
7But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.

Great question. Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Thank you for that post , really encouraged me as an African seeking God .
Thank you.
Although I see, truth and honesty in what you've written, unless you live in Uganda, you will not see the full picture.
If extraordinary hardship were a sign of God's hatred, then men like Jesus and Paul would take the cake on that.
@@tristenpela1582 It's messed up.
Africa is rich spiritually, God's design is perfect..
No they not😂 only thing they rich in is superstitious beliefs

What a question, But What an Answer, Glory to the Lord
At 4:12,
"None of us deserves to live in the presence of God, before God, in relation to God. Therefore, none of us deserves to live well before God, in relation to God. Nobody, anywhere in the world, no matter their hardship, is being wronged by the just and all-holy God."
I am reminded of the parable Laborers in the Vineyard.
How do you know that you repent and believe? When do you know you have done all that?
I agree with this response . This is aggravated by the health , wealth and prosperity gospel that has confused the church and taught that the more money u have, the more blessed u are and the less the more God has forsaken u .

wow...praise GOD and thank you for this. this is wisdom from above. glory be to GOD.
This is not wisdom, this is whitewashed, read my comment.
This is powerful from tanzania,am personally struggling with this issue but i do pray everytime for deliverance
That was deep and profoundly more relevant than any other recent theological questions I’ve heard.
Best response. I scrolled looking for this.

God's extent is not limited to a region or continents and nations. God is omnipotent and omnipresent.
God bless this Channel. Praying for more Episodes and helpful talk!🙌
My two cents is:
- God cares for Africans as much as He does for other nations and I think it pains Him to the core to see the injustices and suffering happening around the world
- But God works through people here on earth to move them to bring out change and the church is meant play that role but it can only do so much.
This question breaks my heart.
God looks at the heart my brother/sister, man looks at the outward.

I don't see the hand of God. I see the hand of Christian colonialism
THANK YOU. 💯 This cannot be overlooked.
Pastor John is a very wise man when it comes to his theological beliefs and perspective
I love John 's answer here, first observation is so astute
I would have personally turned the question around, why does Satan hate Africans so much. Satan is no match for God and can't go against him directly, so he goes after things God loves. Just like the supervillain in films often won't go after the hero directly, but after the people the hero loves.
I think it is the other way around! I believe GOD dearly loves Africa and the devil knows it, and have made our life hell! But, God's blessings remains in Africa, as we are blessed to know and depend on GOD always fro our help and salvation! Knowing GOD as we African do, is the greatest blessings of all!
Africa until you wake up your help is not coming from above or any other place except you 👌
This is the question i want answer, thank you
Talk about a answering a question with no answer. That being said all due respect to pastor Piper, no slander or disrespect intended towards him
So why are children starving in millions in Madagascar, but not in North America? If you don't know, just say you don't know.
@@MrOkadaman28 I do know as I explained. You just have to learn to read and understand what you read!!
Africa is one of the most blessed continent.
Land full of diamonds 💎 most gold deposits, most minerals.
This continent is rich with life and wild life.
I don't think it's true saudi Arabian, Dubai, Britain, Germany, Switzerland and generally white countries are blessed
Amazingly great and well thought out and explained nuanced and detailed answers to a tough question!
But it's not true, read my comment.
Great evaluation and explanation
Thank you pastor John for answering this question from Jason in Uganda with the truth of his word. As a Black African from Kenya and having lived studied and worked in the US, i must admit this question has been asked by many African and Black people. However I have never once viewed African or Black people as being any less loved by God than other peoples. This question frankly irritates me but your response has helped me provide a response to such self hating questions and perspectives.
Very powerful and honest man of God🙌🏾 God bless you🙏🏾
Hi SA here... to Jason, the guy who asked this question ...
Many in Latin America suffer as well, but it is connected with the corruption of the leaders.
Why do you connect Canaan with Africans? In the Bible the Canaanites lived in the modern day land of Israel, not in Africa.
