The fact that the consequent destruction of the 2nd Temple, which was destroyed in 70 AD, is not even alluded to anywhere in the New Testament, proves that the Gospels and the entire New Testament was written within 30 years of Jesus' death. One of Jesus' most descriptive prophecies, described the complete destruction of the Jewish Temple. Considering the dedication of His followers, if they had been writing after the destruction of The Temple, they would at the very least alluded to the actual consequent destruction of the temple in 70 AD. Also the fact that Rome's war against the Jews & Israel which began in late 65 AD, is not mentioned when discussing the history of the early church, is also more than enough abundant proof that the New Testament was composed and completed within 10-30 years of Jesus' death.

Paul's writings occurred prior and the gospel stories are about events that occured prior. Why would the gospels mention the actual destruction? Mark's entire story alludes to the destruction of the temple as if the new cult is an answer to it.

    • @blackeyedturtle
      @blackeyedturtle หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@downshift4503 Three of the four gospels refer to Jesus' prophecy regarding The Temple's destruction: Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. I find it rather strange that anyone would even ask, "Why would a gospel author refer to it, if they had witnessed it prior to completing their writing?" The entire purpose of their writing was that others might believe, and what better confirmation that Jesus was the prophet/messiah they had been waiting for for millennia than fulfilled prophecy? John 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

@@blackeyedturtle Sure, it's very easy for Mark (and later authors copying Mark) to put those words into Jesus mouth implying that he was prophesying future events and as you say, this encourages anyone reading the story that this character was the messiah. Note that Paul, writing before the destruction of the temple, seems to know little about Jesus life and ministry that Mark would later write, never mind Jesus forecasting the temple will be destroyed.

It is not a black-or-white issue. Many accept that Jesus existed as a historical fact, and others will say that Jesus likely existed but acknowledge that the evidence is often second or third-hand claims and should be considered with scepticism. Very few assert that Jesus probably didn't exist and I am not aware of any that claim he didn't.
Unlike other historical figures, the existence of Jesus is not necessary to explain any physical evidence. The existence of Aristotle and Plato are the same. History loses nothing if they are not real people. Tiberius Caesar, on the other hand, is required to explain physical evidence.

Another "hard point" in history is Pauls' execution by the Romans in 64 or 65 AD. So he had to write all the Pauline Epistles before then. And the book of Acts never mentions Pauls death; it leaves us hanging with him imprisoned in Rome. It would be very, very odd for Luke to leave out that event had it been written after the fact.

    Tiberius Caesar
As the Roman emperor from AD 14 to 37, Tiberius was a major political figure whose life and reign were documented by several contemporary and later Roman historians. He had a direct influence on the empire, its laws, and its military. The key sources for Tiberius include:
Tacitus' Annals (written c. AD 116-117) - A detailed, though often critical, account of Tiberius' reign.
Suetonius' The Twelve Caesars (written c. AD 121) - A biographical sketch of Tiberius.
Cassius Dio's Roman History (written early 3rd century AD) - A history of Rome that includes an account of Tiberius.
Velleius Paterculus - A contemporary of Tiberius who wrote favorably about him in his Roman History.
Inscriptions and Coins - There are numerous inscriptions, statues, and coins from his reign that directly commemorate and record his achievements.
Thus, Tiberius has multiple contemporary and near-contemporary references due to his political prominence.
    Jesus of Nazareth
Jesus, who lived in the same period (roughly 4 BC to AD 30/33), was a religious figure whose significance grew after his death, particularly within Christian communities. Despite his profound impact on history and the founding of Christianity, direct secular historical references to Jesus during or shortly after his life are fewer compared to Tiberius. The most significant references include:
The New Testament (written between AD 50 and 100) - These are religious texts, not secular historical accounts, but they remain primary sources for understanding the life and teachings of Jesus.
Tacitus - In Annals (Book 15, Chapter 44), written c. AD 116, Tacitus briefly mentions Jesus in the context of Nero's persecution of Christians, noting that Jesus was executed under Pontius Pilate during Tiberius' reign.
Josephus - The Jewish historian Josephus (AD 37-100) refers to Jesus in his Antiquities of the Jews (Book 18, Chapter 3), written around AD 93. The passage known as the Testimonium Flavianum mentions Jesus, though parts of it are believed to have been altered by later Christian scribes.
Pliny the Younger - In a letter to Emperor Trajan (c. AD 112), Pliny refers to early Christian worship of Christ (Jesus).
Mara Bar Serapion - In a letter from the 1st or 2nd century, Mara Bar Serapion references the execution of a "wise king" of the Jews, which is often interpreted as a reference to Jesus.
    Who is Mentioned More?
Tiberius Caesar has more contemporary historical documentation due to his role as a Roman emperor. The Roman Empire maintained thorough records, and historians like Tacitus, Suetonius, and Cassius Dio documented the reigns of emperors in detail.
Jesus is mentioned less frequently in secular historical sources during his time, as he was a religious figure from a relatively small, occupied province of the Roman Empire. Most of what is known about him comes from Christian religious texts, written after his death, which were not intended as secular history.
    Posthumous Impact:
While Tiberius has more contemporaneous historical mentions, Jesus has become one of the most referenced figures in world history, especially due to the influence of Christianity. Over time, countless texts, theological works, and historical studies have been written about Jesus, far surpassing the historical focus on Tiberius.
In conclusion, Tiberius is mentioned more often in contemporary historical records, but Jesus has been the subject of far more writings and references in later centuries due to the spread of Christianity.

Content: This manuscript contains portions of all four Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles, including significant fragments of the Gospel of Mark.
Significance: P45 is the earliest substantial manuscript of Mark, though it is not complete. It provides evidence of the Gospel’s circulation in the early 3rd century.
Papyrus P137 (Mark fragment from Oxyrhynchus):
Date: Estimated late 2nd to early 3rd century AD
Content: This fragment contains a small portion of Mark 1:7-9 and 1:16-18.
Significance: While not extensive, it is currently one of the oldest surviving fragments of the Gospel of Mark.
Codex Vaticanus (B) and Codex Sinaiticus (Aleph):
Date: Both are from the 4th century AD.
Content: These are among the earliest complete manuscripts of the New Testament, including the full Gospel of Mark.
Significance: These codices provide the earliest complete version of Mark, helping to preserve the text.

The amount of cross referenced different sources (and written in a ‘reporting’ not ‘literary/myth’ style) is MASSIVE compared to any other historical figure (Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, etc). If Jesus was a ‘myth’, then NOTHING from history can be believed. Also, when various bibles containing the gospels of Christ from the first few centuries, and in various geographical locations with different languages and cultures, were examined - the texts match up over 98% of the words and grammatical meanings - which mean the first people passing on what they saw was held in such extreme importance, that NOBODY took liberty or flourishes with the reporting (NOT stories or myth). Nothing like that has happened in human history before or since in documenting anything.

The second person thinks he knows where you were this morning, thinks you were nowhere near an apple tree, and says "You did not eat an apple."
Both of them do not believe you, but the first one is not making any claims. He is just not convinced by your story. He has nothing to prove, but you do.
The second one has stated that you did NOT eat an apple, so he IS making a claim, and he does have a burden of proof.
Atheism is simply a LACK of belief in a God. There might be gods, there might not, but they have not been convinced that any gods exist. If you claim there IS a god, the burden of proof was on you, and you failed to convince them.
If someone claims there IS NO GOD, that's a positive claim, and it would need evidence to support it. But that's not what most atheists say. Simply NOT believing the Bible requires no proof. We just don't believe because we haven't been convinced.

I think the problem with the external sources we have is that all of those writers were born after the death of Jesus. I believe the earliest external source is Josephus who was born 37 a.d. and doesn't write about Jesus for another 55 years later. Then you have to wonder why Josephus did not become a Christian considering what he supposedly wrote about Jesus? Tacitus was also born after the death of Jesus and does not write about Jesus until 116 a.d. The point I am trying to make is that external sources are writing about Jesus from the perspective of how Christians of their time viewed the concept of Jesus that could exist whether or not a historical Jesus actually existed. If you google how Tacitus got his information about the crucifixion of Jesus under Pontius Pilate he is recounting what he heard form the "Chrestians" themselves, not from official records.
In terms of using the internal sources of the New Testament, even that has problems in that it is not a bunch of personal accounts but a series of writers borrowing from other writers to create the stories of Jesus. If Matthew and Luke were eyewitnesses or used eyewitness accounts, why do they rely on other written stories, in particular the gospel of Mark, where Mark informs us he got his stories from Peter who also had influence on Paul. While John is a bit of an outlier, he still sticks somewhat to what the other writers wrote. These writers had an audience in mind and tailored the narrative to that audience. My point here is that there is plenty of room for doubt even using the bible itself, leaving the possibility of a fictional Jesus. If all options are available, we could have a fictional Jesus or a historical Jesus. If historical, then there is the matter of is it an exaggerated Jesus or perhaps still a fictional Jesus in the sense that the writers did not convey the actual teachings of Jesus but rather their version.

Thousands of years and nothing has changed, the BATTLE to the DEATH on planet Earth
      is still
ATHEISM and RELIGIONS versus the CREATOR and HIS CHRIST
Atheists, Jehovah's Witnesses, SDAs, Mormons, Catholics, Baptists, Born Again Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and fanatics of all kinds of Religions
      KNOW
and are fully aware that they are unitedly opposed, against, and -
      1. will never ever accept that the Creator is the One who should be honored and respected as True and Sovereign God in their willful opposition and defiance of what were written in Matthew 22: 37 and John 17: 3
      and
      2. will never ever accept Jesus Christ too as the One given by the Creator all authority in heaven and on earth in their willful opposition and defiance of what's written in Matthew 28: 18.
      The Creator KNOWS
that his favor and reward of ETERNAL LIFE and existence on earth without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death as written in Revelation 21: 3, 4
      is
definitely NOT for Atheists, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and fanatics of all kinds of Religions
      but
ONLY for lowly, ordinary, kind, submissive, and respectful persons on earth
      who
honor and obey Jesus Christ as their loving, kind, and merciful Master and Heavenly King
      and
the teachings of Jesus Christ about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" written in Luke 4: 43 and John 11: 25, 26
      are
      the guarantee
      that
loving, kind, submissive, and respectful persons on earth
      who
died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Naomi, Ruth, King David, Jesus Christ's Followers and disciples, and many others
      will
all be RESURRECTED back to life in the right and proper time so they can happily and abundantly live and exist on earth forever as citizens and subjects of the "KINGDOM of GOD" or His Kingdom
and fully enjoy his and his Christ's eternal love, kindness, goodness, generosities, compassions, favors, and blessings for eternity
under the loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection of Jesus Christ as his Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth as written in Revelation 11: 15.

The book of Matthew has been confirmed by historians to have been written as early as 7 years after Jesus’s death on the cross. All of the New Testament was written by eye witnesses of Jesus’s life, death and resurrection, or they were written by the understudies of the eye witnesses. This has been confirmed by both secular and Christian historians, and is no longer a debate. People who disagree with it or are skeptic of it simply don’t want it to be true.

I've been studying academic scholarship on early Christianity and the NT for about 25 years and have never heard of any historians confirming that Matt was written as early as 7 years after Jesus. While some argue for an early date, most don't and that is NOT the academic consensus. Also, keep in mind that very few NT scholar believes that the gospels were written by the authors they are attributed to. There are many reason for this, some obvious (like that they were uneducated and didn't know Greek) some less so (the late date of composition), have you never looked into this? These scholars are people who have spent their entire lives learning ancient languages, reading the original manuscripts, studying the development of the theology, etc.
Mark is often thought to have been written by a follower of Peter, based on the idea that Mark's Gospel reflects Peter's teachings. Matthew and Luke are considered to have used Mark's Gospel as a source and incorporated other traditions and sources, such as the Q source as well as M and L. Most scholars believe that John was written by a later community of followers of John, reflecting a developed theology and ideas from the late first century.
For Matt in particular, most scholars will give a much later date for reasons like:
Dependence on the Gospel of Mark: Most scholars believe that Matthew was written after the Gospel of Mark, which is generally dated to around 65-70 CE. Matthew is thought to have used Mark as a primary source, incorporating and expanding upon its content.
Destruction of the Temple: The Gospel of Matthew seems to reflect knowledge of the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple, which occurred in 70 CE. Some scholars suggest that Matthew was written shortly after this event, as it includes references that imply the destruction was a recent event.
Early Church Fathers: Early Christian writers such as Papias and Irenaeus indicated that Matthew was written in the first century, but they did not provide precise dates. Their testimonies are more indicative of the period rather than exact dating.
Theological and Historical Context: The content of Matthew reflects a developed theological perspective and addresses issues pertinent to the early Christian community in the latter part of the first century.

@@theastronomer5800 not buying it. it does not take a God to prophesize that the 2nd temple will be torn down, especially after the first temple was torn down before. just takes a smart person to read the room. so claiming they were could only be written after the fact is not clever at all. just seem fallacious. 2nd point is that even today many people have ghostwriters and editor, to correct there grammar, and punctuations, so saying that I not write this post myself with out the help of spell checker, or help from the editor is a juvenile argument. I can not take these two arguments seriously, only a Scholar with some Axe to grind with make such fallacious conclusions.

@@theastronomer5800 well I’m sorry if you have never heard of it, but the discussions, calculations and reasoning has been argued. The bottom line is that the gospels have been argued extensively that the writers of them were in fact done by the apostles themselves or by their understudies well within the time of reliability which provides them credibility against any argument a to the contrary.

i have a question for anyone who is in unbelief: which would be worse?
deciding to just take a tiny step out in faith and deciding to believe and trust Him now, even if all you can muster is as small as a mustard seed,
or waiting until this life is over and finding out it was all true AFTER the fact?
wouldn’t you rather step out in faith for a moment and allow God to work with that little bit of faith, or would you rather refuse that, not knowing what the consequence of that will be?
our ways are not His ways, neither are our thoughts His thoughts. His ways and thoughts are higher than ours.

Very few (if any?) historical scholars of early Christianity (so people with PhDs, who don't make those kinds of documentaries...) doubt that Jesus existed. They also view him properly in his historical context (unlike religious people), so many for example consider him to have been a 1st century Jewish apocalyptic prophet based on the numerous apocalyptic sayings in the NT and his (as well as Paul's and the early Church Fathers') expectation of the imminent end.

the bible is a fake book jesus never existed during the roman empire the jews and romans killed 25 million greeks destroy statues libraries academies and the most beautiful buildings mankind has ever seen and after that christian killers called us also pagans. The word DEMON is a Greek word and it is a good word in fact from this word we have the other Greek word EΥΔΑΙΜΟΝΙΑ that means bliss but the good Christian killers change the real meaning of the Greek word to suit their false doctrine. The difference between Greeks and Christians? The difference between the two is that the Greeks built a world based on observation and intellect, while the Christians built a world based on assumption and imagination. all the fake jesus stories are stolen from ancient greek literature even his form is stolen from the greek apollo tianneas the greeks teach mankind HOW to think not WHAT to think. the same people who create the jewish myth of jesus create the islamic myth so they control the east and the west.they even put the never existed fake jesus in time so they make their lie more believable.if you look at them all religions have one thing in common and that is they are all pedos fraudsters they blackmail people and threat people also they rape children traffick children and murder children.everything is about money and power they are the biggest criminals of humanity .nobody knows what or who god is or how the miracle of nature works that is why the greeks had the statue of the unknown god and they told us that we will never understand how nature works .THE GREEKS TAUGHT HUMANITY HOW TO THINK NOT WHAT TO THINK THAT IS WHY DURING THE ROMAN EMPIRE THEY KILLED MY ANCESTORS THEY STOP ART MUSIC EVEN THE OLYMPIC GAMES THEY STOP THESE GOOD CHRISTIAN MURDERERS .WE THE GREEKS WILL TAKE REVENGE IN THIS NEXT WORLD WAR WE WILL BURN ALL CHURCHES AND KILL ALL PRIESTS TO TAKE AT LIST SOME OF THE BLOOD BACK FOR MILLIONS OF OUR ANCESTORS THAT THE CHRISTIANS KILLED

I have a problem with-not one of his disiples believed he was the son of God before the crucifixion, Judas betrayed him Peter denied him, they all ran away, Peter James and John had God personally tell them this is my son at the transfiguration in the presence of Moses and Elijah. Thats a big deal. Jesus told them exactly what was going to happen over and over again.
They had the son of God as their personal preacher for 3 years and still they did not believe he was the most powerful being in the universe.
Where are the early stories of the rest of the disiples. Why make this story so hard to believe when the stakes are so high. Many many people are seeking a relationship with the divine, things could be so much easier, have empathy with people who have a hard time with this.

CORRECTION @ 0:41, The earliest gospel completed, Book of Matthew, was estimated to have been finished just 7.5 years after Jesus' death and resurrection, not 100 years as mentioned in this video. The books that took the longest time to complete, which were books and letters written by the Apostle John, took 65 years to complete. Paul's letters were completed just 30 years after Jesus' death and resurrection. In general, while exact writing durations are not known, we do have a clue as to when these writings were completed. The Holy Scriptures is estimated to have been completed 65 years after Jesus' death and resurrection.

Apostle Paul records the Christian Creed in 1 Cor 15, by referencing 'scripture' already written, this was around 51-52 AD, a mere 18 years after Jesus resurrection in 33 AD. The ultimate polaroid was provided by God on the Shroud of Turin at the very moment of resurrection, which has been authenticated by now thru many scientific methods.

Even Jewish scholars who look at historical accounts accept Jesus existed while not agreeing with His claims. Similarly, though I don't particularly trust the source, the quran references Jesus from the writings that were available in Mohammeds time..
There is definitely evidence for Jesus, that is, without doubt!

The thought of evidence outside of the bible is not wrongheaded. It's just seeking evidence to show those who do not believe that, at the very least, he was a real person. If you keep introducing the Bible you will lose those who are ardently against religion.

Thousands of years and nothing has changed,
the BATTLE to the DEATH on planet Earth
      is still
ATHEISM and RELIGIONS versus the CREATOR and HIS CHRIST
Atheists, Jehovah's Witnesses, SDAs, Mormons, Catholics, Baptists, Born Again Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and fanatics of all kinds of Religions
      KNOW
and are fully aware that they are unitedly opposed, against, and -
      1. will never ever accept that the Creator is the True and Sovereign God
      and
      2. will never ever submit too to the authority of Jesus Christ as the Creator's Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth.
      The Creator KNOWS
that his favor and reward of ETERNAL LIFE and existence on earth without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death as written in Revelation 21: 3, 4
is definitely NOT for Atheists, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and fanatics of all kinds of Religions
      but
ONLY for lowly, ordinary, kind, submissive, and respectful persons on earth
      who
honor and obey Jesus Christ as their loving, kind, and merciful Master and Heavenly King
      and
the teachings of Jesus Christ about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" written in Luke 4: 43 and John 11: 25, 26
      are
also NOT for Atheists, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and fanatics of all kinds of Religions
      but
ONLY for loving, kind, submissive, and respectful persons on earth
      who
died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Naomi, Ruth, King David, Jesus Christ's Followers and disciples, and many others
      who
are all worthy and deserving of being RESURRECTED back to life in the right and proper time so they can happily and abundantly live and exist on earth forever as citizens and subjects of the "KINGDOM of GOD" or His Kingdom
and fully enjoy his and his Christ's eternal love, kindness, goodness, generosities, compassions, favors, and blessings for eternity
under the loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection of Jesus Christ as his Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth as written in Revelation 11: 15.

The first gospel was written within claims 60years of jesus, by first hand witnesses. The veracity of which can be tested with internal references from other books of the Bible and external literature as well.
People argue this issue of reliability of scripture based on shallow or misunderstanding of how history is captured over time. And they unfortunately do not impose the same degree of questioning to other claims other than Christianity.
It's often frustrating when people who have microphones speak on issues but don't have the commitment to go do the actual research. There's often a lot of intellectual dishonesty to their sweeping claims.

Keep in mind that a non Christian HAS NO ABILITY WHAT-SO-EVER to discern God in ANY FORM. If you're not called - He's invisible to you and your spirit DOES NOT seek his face. If He has called you then and only then can you even begin to see His hand in nature and discern the sprits of the those around you. So don't try and convince the unregenerate with logic/arguments. They cannot see Him - at all.

Yes a Rabbi who was teaching Rabbi Hillel teachings (the Golden Rule, don't judge, be good to enemies...) and Persian apocalyptic beliefs probably existed. Josephus writes about many of these messianic figures. But the supernatural tales in the Gospels are myth taken from Hellenistic theology.
Warner Wallace is a homicide detective and Christian apologist. He is not an expert in historical scholarship. Nabeel Asif Qureshi was a Pakistani-American evangelical Christian apologist. Not at all trained in historical scholarship. A 400 year old field that the general public is largely unaware unless you read the books by the scholars. Bart Ehrman writes about how shocked fundamentalists are when they switch from theology to historical studies. Every scholar with a PhD in critical-history is absolutely positive the evidence is that Christianity is a combination of Judaism, Persian beliefs and mostly Hellenism.
David Litwa teaches online courses on these Greek influenced religions. Richard Miller writes about them as well. The experts on Hellenism and it's influence on the Gospels are James Tabor, J.Z. Smith, Klauck, and the Persian experts are Mary Boyce and John Collins.
Ignatius is writing at the end of the 2nd century, his letters are in Elaine Pagels "The Gnostic Gospels". He didn't like the various Gnostic groups and wanted a power structure of priests and bishops who could be the only teachers, interpreters and readers of what scripture he wanted.
He mentions Matthew but has different things in the Gospel. He is over 1 century later. It would be like someone right now saying Mormonism is the true religion. Except they didn't have access to books, internet, papers like we do. He bought into a story in the Gospels. Just like 1 billion in Islam bought into the Quran 1 century later. These are bad apologetics designed to convince people who do not care about what is actually true. He never sources one single historian.
Many like Miller and Ehrman were fundamentalists who swore their beliefs would never be shaken. They are now secular. When you believe amateur apologists over an entire field of study, with specialists in every area (Gospel dates/names added, Synoptic Problem, Acts, Persian influence, Greek influence, Mesopotamian influence on Genesis, Joel Baden on the Pentatuch, Fransesca Stavrakopolou on early Yahweh and what the original Hebrew said and of course archaeologists like Dever, Meyers and Finklestein, then you are just doing what Mormons, Islam, and every other group trying to make a myth historical and ignoring the vast amount of evidence that has been found over centuries.
In the Yale Divinity Lectures "Old Testament Interpretation 1 and 2" he goes over the places we first see Persian borrowings in the late OT books.
James Tabors content is free on youtube and his website. When the Greeks occupied a nation from 300 BCE to the 1st century the local religions were changed, all in the same way. They took on personal salvation through a son/daughter of the supreme God, we have a soul that belongs in it's rightful home (Heaven), baptism is a spiritual union with the passion of the savior and resurrection is not bodily but spiritual.
In the OT the dead just slept in Sheol. The theology changed with Persian influence and with Greek influence. All historical scholars say the same thing because this is what the evidence shows.
J.Z. Smith explains in the Britannica article about Hellenism what religions took from Hellenism. We have a Syrian version, we have a Persian version, an Egyptian version, it’s the same package that spreads from the Greek colonists. It’s very Greek but borrows from local cultures. The last version was the Jewish version, the NT.
-the seasonal drama was homologized to a soteriology (salvation concept) concerning the destiny, fortune, and salvation of the individual after death.
-his led to a change from concern for a religion of national prosperity to one for individual salvation, from focus on a particular ethnic group to concern for every human. The prophet or saviour replaced the priest and king as the chief religious figure.
-his process was carried further through the identification of the experiences of the soul that was to be saved with the vicissitudes of a divine but fallen soul, which had to be redeemed by cultic activity and divine intervention. This view is illustrated in the concept of the paradoxical figure of the saved saviour, salvator salvandus.
-Other deities, who had previously been associated with national destiny (e.g., Zeus, Yahweh, and Isis), were raised to the status of transcendent, supreme
-The temples and cult institutions of the various Hellenistic religions were repositories of the knowledge and techniques necessary for salvation and were the agents of the public worship of a particular deity. In addition, they served an important sociological role. In the new, cosmopolitan ideology that followed Alexander’s conquests, the old nationalistic and ethnic boundaries had broken down and the problem of religious and social identity had become acute.
-Most of these groups had regular meetings for a communal meal that served the dual role of sacramental participation (referring to the use of material elements believed to convey spiritual benefits among the members and with their deity)
-Hellenistic philosophy (Stoicism, Cynicism, Neo-Aristotelianism, Neo-Pythagoreanism, and Neoplatonism) provided key formulations for Jewish, Christian, and Muslim philosophy, theology, and mysticism through the 18th century
    - The basic forms of worship of both the Jewish and Christian communities were heavily influenced in their formative period by Hellenistic practices, and this remains fundamentally unchanged to the present time. Finally, the central religious literature of both traditions-the Jewish Talmud (an authoritative compendium of law, lore, and interpretation), the New Testament, and the later patristic literature of the early Church Fathers-are characteristic Hellenistic documents both in form and content.
-Other traditions even more radically reinterpreted the ancient figures. The cosmic or seasonal drama was interiorized to refer to the divine soul within man that must be liberated.
-Each persisted in its native land with little perceptible change save for its becoming linked to nationalistic or messianic movements (centring on a deliverer figure)
-and apocalyptic traditions (referring to a belief in the dramatic intervention of a god in human and natural events)
    - Particularly noticeable was the success of a variety of prophets, magicians, and healers-e.g., John the Baptist, Jesus, Simon Magus, Apollonius of Tyana, Alexander the Paphlagonian, and the cult of the healer Asclepius-whose preaching corresponded to the activities of various Greek and Roman philosophic missionaries
That describes the change from the OT to the NT exactly. Yet all the Mystery religions used these beliefs.
So Rogan is basically correct, he just doesn't know the specifics.
