Pari arrives at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Hospital

- It’s time to celebrate! After extensive planning and a tremendous effort by our rescue team, Pari has safely arrived at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Hospital. These first steps of freedom are powerfully symbolic, giving hope to all captive elephants in India. Let’s cheer Pari on and look forward to seeing her personality shine as her health improves and she no longer lives in fear.
Suffering from years of abuse, her many injuries mask her young age of just 20. In the coming weeks Pari will undergo extensive medical evaluations and initial treatment. She will receive nutritious food to help her regain strength, and of course many bananas and other treats to further win her trust. In time she will meet other resident elephant friends.

I seriously want to move here and help with the elephants!! This is so amazing! And to see these enormous creatures, who could kill a human instantly, be so beaten down and abused just lets you know how gentle elephants are and they just want freedom and kindness. Most people are evil monsters but there are a few good ones in the world!

Please, please make more videos of her in the first hours and days in her new home...it makes us feel closer to her and lets us see how she is adapting to her new life. I love how she took a bit of soil in her trunk and threw it on herself even before leaving the ambulance...already she wants to fit in and to better know her surroundings. Brave, brave girl...may she soon - very soon - know that there are humans who do care and will not only give her good food and real love, but soul and body healing care. Bless.

Watching her walk literally makes me cry. It breaks my heart that she lived such a horrific life. If the stupid people would stop paying for rides this could end. Thank you all for what your doing for her. Can't wait to see updates!❤

Please, please don't ride these animals, give money to have them " entertain" you when you visit these countries. Cut off the money to their captors and abusers and hopefully this bullshit will end once and for all!!!
Anytime we see captive animals for our enjoyment we have to stop we need to support the organizations that stop endangerment of animals, period.

They usually leave the bells on for the first 30 days. Because it's a familiar thing to the newly rescued ellie! After 30 days they will make a celebration video by removing the bell! They do this with ALL their rescues!

It is so emotional the moment Pari stepped on the soil of the sanctuary. It is also heartbreaking to see the poor condition of his legs. I am literally crying tears of joy that she is rescued and tears of pain for her seeing the extremely horrible condition her feet are in and witnessing how painful it is for her to walk. I really hope her feet, legs and overall constitution heals. I really wish India would prosecute, jail and bar abusers from owning, living with and working with animals ever again.
It really takes a person without a conscience and lack of empathy to do this to another being. It is really horrible.
How can anyone call themselves human and abuse such a magnificent being?

sadly it is accepted by the society, lack of knowledge about elephants and systematic abuse has become our culture. We don't see anything wrong in riding an elephant, seeing chained and pierced elephant is accepted by the temples and hence becomes a societal norm.
My grandchildren are inspired by each individual that works to keep compassion and empathy for those that cannot speak for themselves, you are our earth keepers. Thank you, you have my deepest gratitude.

So glad that not all human beings are ignorant of animal suffering. There are such very kind hearts out there, because, otherwise animals have no future. Without animals, insects, birds and all other creatures other than humans, this planet has no future.
The Wildlife SOS team are angels of mercy for all you do. You will be blessed. There are several elephants in the US being used and abused for human entertainment, living very isolated lives in substandard environments. Yet all efforts to rescue them and get them retired to the beautiful elephant sanctuaries in Georgia and Tennessee fail because authorities refuse to take action and help them. It's disgraceful! Thank you for saving Pari. Hope my monthly donation will help with her medical care.

As a human being and as an American I am so fortunate not to have the pain and stiffness and swelling and disregard and lack of love that this poor animal has had. Her swollen joints the way she needs to walk to support herself brings me to tears. I will try to help in what ways that I can.

I'm crying happy tears for Pari and she can see they didn't blind her! Her poor feet, maybe once they start to heal her posture will change. Her back legs are so thin. Wait till she gets a taste of watermelon and that brown paste (what is that stuff?). I love how she stopped to listen to the other elephants trumpet and they know a new elephant has arrived because they heard the hospital truck drive in. Welcome to you're new life Pari.....
