I definitely remember Pooh v. Hook when visiting Disney World in 1996. Pooh definitely won. I assumed they did this every 4 years with Pooh running against a different Disney villain each election cycle, because I went back in 2000 and I thought I recalled a similar Main Street event, but I might be conflating my two trips.

Okay say what you will about the first Park costume for Pooh that had the honey pot on top, but at least it does still have a friendly and cuddly expression with the same bead eyes that Pooh usually has.
This along with the Welcome to Pooh Corner costume are perfect examples of why Pooh NEVER works with actual eyes with pupils and irises. This yellow eyed Pooh along with the unnatural high pitched nasally voice just makes this Pooh look like pure nightmare fuel that wants to eat my soul in case there’s honey in it. 😳

I think it might be cool as they tried bringing something like that back, at least as some sort of special event or show at the Magic Kingdom.
Instead of Winnie the Pooh though how about they have Mickey Mouse instead? And instead of a bad guy like Capt. Hook, how about they have an equally likable Disney character by Donald Duck or one of Mickey's other friends?
They don't have to be running for president, they could simply be running for the position of mayor of Main Street, or something.
And people would actually be able to vote on who one so that the victor was not always assured.
And maybe, when the election is over, no matter who wins, both candidates shake hands at the end just to show that there is no bad feelings.

1: The Sherman Brothers wrote music for Snoopy, Come Home in addition to their Disney projects.
2: The Peanuts franchise is as much affiliated with Knott's Berry Farm as Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse are in with Disneyland, and Knott's Berry Farm is located relatively close to Disneyland.
3: The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show used to air on The Disney Channel during the last years of their premium cable era.
4: Charlie Brown would almost surely be Snoopy's vice president if this were to happen.
