    These machines are awesome for hauling ice fishing gear. I used an 88 Indy 650 chassis with the same engine and torque converter. Got the sled for free so build cost was a couple hundred bucks for the engine, torque converter, chain, sprockets etc. Nice job on your build!

    I like how yours came out, looks like it steers nice. Can you show a little more detail on the drive system, that being the clutch and jack shaft in particular. Trying to figure out the logistics of building one for a mid summer project. Also do you think a mid or rear motor mount would improve handling or do you like how it is now?

    • @TRoutdoors2021
      @TRoutdoors2021  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tanner I can make another video at some point about that when I have it in the garage. I’m not sure in different mounting I have no problem with a front engine. The handle bars have enough leverage too lift the front up and turn.

    • @TRoutdoors2021

      Trevor actually, I suppose you could build one like that. I would make sure you use lock nuts of some sort or lock tight.

    Been messing with my 2001 Phazer to long, so getting ready to pul the trigger on this project..Everything looks pretty simple, but wanted to know more about the clutch assembly? Thanks

    • @TRoutdoors2021
      @TRoutdoors2021  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The clutch assembly is just a knock off of a comet 30 series gokart clutch I got off of Amazon. It works the same as a snowmobile clutch just engages at the right rpm for using a small engine

    • @Ivanskrakow
      @Ivanskrakow 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TRoutdoors2021 Thanks, I was looking at Amazon as well, and found them, pretty surprised at how cheap they were. I can’t tell what HP you settled at, I was at Harbour freight today looking at the engines? Knowing that I want plenty of HP to go through the woods to my camp , but to big seems it would be pretty tippy?

    • @TRoutdoors2021
      @TRoutdoors2021  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes these clutches used to be 300 when you had to stick with a name brand very nicely priced for odd project such as this one. I went with the 6.5 predator engine you can find at harbor for 99$ I believe. Also I don’t mind it being tippy so you can carve the machine for turning in deep snow but even on a couple inches it does maintain up right easily

    The sprocket I used is smaller than yours and has trouble going up small hills do you think a bigger sprocket will give me more torque

    • @TRoutdoors2021
      @TRoutdoors2021  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wisconsin life, i had originally used a smaller sprocket and my torque converter never went through its range. After that i installed the 46 tooth sprocket and is now perfect with unlimited torque with a top speed of 16-18mph I’d say. I would try a bigger sprocket and you should have success

    • @TRoutdoors2021
      @TRoutdoors2021  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looking back on my build I would save the brake. Not sure how your laws work but up in Michigan with very little mods you can ride these on the snowmobile trails and one of the rules is to have a brake that locks the track to stop

    • @TRoutdoors2021
      @TRoutdoors2021  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to completely take apart the gear case on the one side, once that is off the other side has swivel pillow block bearing that allows you to move the shaft wherever you want. There are splines on the shaft for the brake that I had to grind down to slide the sprocket on. Hope that helps a little bit
