    Thanks Thomas for this great review. Because of this review, I purchased the Totem Element Fire v2. Loving them so far. You're absolutely right about pairing it with a musical subwoofer, makes a huge difference.

    Thomas this is my favorite brand. I own Arro and Sttaf. I found Totem does something that no other companies focus much in. They pay close attention to there crossover section, even down to selecting the right sounding caps for each of there speaker models. The crossovers are sold in matched pairs really resulting in amazing sounding speakers. Natural, quick, and great imaging all come to mind when I hear Totem speakers. Am I crazy to say this IS one of the best brand speakers I have heard? Please tell me which models stood out the most for you? I’m running McIntosh power with Plinius CD LAD pre. I have the Classe 101 and found it as well a good match to the Totems I own, but the McIntosh seemed to make them a bit more revealing to me. I really enjoy your channel and the input you bring to this industry. I hope you decide to just cut back your posts instead of leaving.

    Thomas, they seem nice, we don't have any dealers where I am at, you have to go the next state over to find a dealer. I see you my friend you really know how to listen and you know exactly what you like to hear. The most important things is learning how to listen and what to listen for. You are so right about subwoofers and I have duals and the bass response is even. Keep up the good content.

    The lack of the usual crossover really seems to help imaging. The woofer is mechanically rolled off. This is really rare. Expensive, but the woofer basket looks like a work of art. I saw/heard them (and rest of element range) at a UK audio show. All sounded incredible.

    • @ThomasAndStereo
      @ThomasAndStereo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi i think that you have pointed out a very important point ... the woofer. Lately i have become to the conclusion that woofer makes a lot of the overall sound. Great tweeters are more common. Like you I generally prefer a full size speaker to get a wider frequency response, but I have always gravitated back to good book shelf and without a subwoofer. There is a lot of musical pleasure in listening to the punch of a small single woofer easily driven by most amps and the simple crossover network possible in a two driver setup. You get a touch of low bass, but mostly the mid to upper frequency range without the low end, it just sounds cleaner and more purposeful. I think people who try that, find they actually like it more than they would expect, since the low end is missing. I always have to have both a good set of bookshelf and tower speakers and would have towers if the only choice, but not by much. How do those Totem sound compared to Focal Sopra No. 1?

    • @ThomasAndStereo
      @ThomasAndStereo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like bookshelf in the sense, they also disappear easily in the room. I never heard the sopra but it's 2 different sound. Sopra due to it's brightness , you really need to match everything right.

      Totem Ember = ¾ inch soft dome tweeterTorrent™ 6-inch hand-assembled woofer

      Thomas & Stereo Thomas brother I'm using a pair of JBL'S S310 witch I fiend at really high Volume the Titanium tweeter start to hurt your ears but at A moderate volume they sound pretty warm if you get a chance Google them take a look The wolfer and mid range has that copper look to them.
      The klipach I have will Hurt your ears there the klipach 5.2 They have a 10" wolfer and a 12" woofer it's that Horn tweeter that hurts your ears so I do Prefer the JBL'S S310 and I have the adcom 555mk2 and the Matching preamp the GPT 500 2 but I'm really looking for a new Pre app if you have any good ideas at a reasonable price feel free to elaborate.

    • @ThomasAndStereo
      @ThomasAndStereo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the ADCOM GFP-750 (pre-amp) + ADCOM GFA-8502 (300w) before, I like the preamp but find the power amp a bit too bright. Even though it was a nelson pass design. After that I never got a chance to try any other adcom because I think that was one of their bigger model. If you don't mind a bit of brightness and want to skip level from the JBL S310, then a used focal 836v will jump level for you. What you have the JBL S310 has so many good reviews so you need something significantly more expensive to beat it. If you are looking for a preamp, depends on your budget, have you consider going tube? I had a Audio Experience symphony 2 preamp and it was very very good, I sold mine for like $300, a bit of floor noise but not to be underestimated. All depends on budget.

    • @andrewcrain5461
      @andrewcrain5461 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas & Stereo well I was looking at the Evo..PT 100 it a about $300 if you had $400 to spend on a preamp what would it be and I've never had any tubs but if the tubs could get just a little of the brightness out then Absolutely would consider tubs but I don't no witch one...I'll have a look at the one you Mentioned. Thank you for your input looking forward to more !! It would be nice to get some of that brightness out of the adcom 555mk2
