A very sleepy Tawny Owl

Tawny Owls (Strix aluco) are a common owl of Europe and parts of Western Asia. Although often found living close to humans in gardens and city parks they are strictly nocturnal and difficult to see. The best way to see them is at a daytime roost where they will often sit out in the open, especially if the sun is out. There are two color morphs: red (the bird in this video) and gray.
Their prey consists mostly of small rodents, but they will also eat beetles and birds. Smaller or less powerfull owls, such as Little Owl (Athene noctua) or Long-eared Owl (Asio otus) are sometimes taken as prey.
Tawny Owls have a lifespan of over 20 years and will often occupy the same nest their entire life.
