I have an album that has the same interviews with Paul featured in this video. It's an LP where Paul speaks between samples of each song. It's stamped promotional use only. I picked it up at a used record shop years ago.
'Can't Hardly Wait' is my favourite Replacements' song. Absolutely no idea how it did not become absolutely huge. The melody is just utterly superb. However I love the loud stuff and the loose stuff. It's just that melody is amazing.
This is such an amazing “making of“ podcast, expertly edited, beautifully paced, coherent, structured well, with just the right amount of actual songs, and successful in that it’s fully reminded me of what an amazing experience it was falling in love with this record 30 years ago. So many podcasts/TH-cam documentaries about great albums, while admirable in their intention, end up a mess, don’t have any source music, and are filled with rambling, incoherently written narratives. This is an exception. Great work!
I didn't really Follow The Replacements in the eighties but a friend of mine convinced me to buy please to meet me which I did and thought was an absolutely slamming rock and roll record in 1987 my biggest regret was not going to see them play at the Fillmore in 1988 the show that Billie Joe Armstrong has stated changed his life
"The words I thought I brought I left behiiiiiind... sooooooooo never mind!" Love how raw Paul's vocals are on that track. Pleased to Meet Me has very slick production, but it's still got plenty of attitude.
Admirable Tommy fired his brother? He died a few years later because of it. Even though Bob gave Tommy the job saving him from a life of delinquency and crime.
this was the last true band effort before paul became it's lone direction. i do wonder how cool it may have been for chilton to take bob's spot but i think paul had too much deference to invite him.

This retrospective is like stringing GOLD. Seminal band, legendary producer, mind blowing songs....classic album. God bless the Replacements.
Can't believe this got made, how lovely. Feels like a real all-hands-on-deck production. Big thanks!
This video has been up 3 yrs and it only has 100 likes? How?!?!
Most videos have like a ten percent like ratio to views

I agree. Very underrated.

Chris Mars is one of the most underrated rock drummers I can think of
Safe to actually say “musician”… really. His solo album- popular creeps is a great song. 👍🏻

So glad I saw the band live in early 1991 before they called it quits.
This was a fantastic listen. PTMM was what got me into the band way back then, and is still my favorite album of theirs. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for listening! I agree, this could be my favorite album of theirs but they are all great.
my favorite as well..........over 30 years later.....
People sleep on Pleased to Meet Me. It may not be the original lineup but imo it’s still their best
It's not as good as the previous two, but it's really good. After this? Meh
set this up in a playlist that could go on and on...and we would be greater-full than we are already...thank you...
This album is filled with drum samples, loops, and digital sounds
What a blast! Where has this interview been all my life?
yes,yes , yes...I walked in my door in '86 hearing "never mind" and thought: my sound, my friends, there is someone who feels like me!
"The words I thought I brought I left behiiiiiind... sooooooooo never mind!"

Trouble Boys is one of the best music books ever written, 2nd only to Respect Yourself (story of Stax). Great video!
Absolutely love this. It is a classic retrospective. Had me glued to every second !
This was so great. Thank you for putting this out.
The best Replacement album! Skyway is a masterpiece.
Love this Album ... might be their Best ... also love Dont tell a Soul and All Shook Down
Wow
Thanks! Very insightful and well done.
why in the hell can nobody ever get paul and tommy together for current interviews???!@!!
Neither of them give many interviews. I'm sure they're tired of talking about a band that broke up thirty five years ago
God I love this band.
This is great

They're 2nd best album!
After 'Let it Be' right? BTW It's 'their' not 'they're'.

I think Alex taking Bob's spot would have been a HORRIBLE idea, almost as bad of an idea of having Slim take Bob's spot
Terrible reverb drenched production. Good songs.
