- Catharina "Nina" Hagen is a German singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her theatrical vocals and rise to prominence during the punk and Neue Deutsche Welle movements in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She is known as "The Godmother of German Punk".

Nina Hagen was once the darling of Schlager in the German Democratic Republic!!!! ..She ever wanted to make different things!!! then she left the GDR..... Her band "The Nina Hagen Band" is very good, after they split the band became the very successful band "Spliff".. Try them out!!! "Carbonara" was a big hit...I think in 1981...also in Italia ;-) The song is very timeless!!!
For me, Nina is an real Icon in german Avantgarde/Independent Music.🥰

But isn`t she crazy? Once I was a fan. Now I've calmed down! Haha! 😆 I still love her famous stage performance (you also saw) at "Live im Rockpalast" though.

One must know Nina has the first years and Songs of her career.Her management pushed her towards the “Schlager” corner.
Only later did she break away from management and be able to do whatever she wanted. You have to say she's a crazy bird, but she's still down to earth. She still lives modestly in a rented apartment in someone's house in Berlin.
Whenever I think of the old punk times and absolute freedom, I automatically think of Nina Hagen.

Das kann man so nicht sagen. Der klassische britische Punk ist ein "Gegen-alles-sein" (so ungefähr). Nina Hagen "rebellierte" zunächst ganz vorsichtig in der DDR und später offensichtlicher. Sie war ein Fan von den Sex Pistols, aber als Frau hat man ja noch eine "andere" Art aufzufallen und selbstbewusst aus dem üblichen Rahmen zu fallen. Das war genauso "punk". Ihre Art von Gottglaube (sowohl was Jesus betrifft als auch das Buddistische) ist dabei KEIN Hindernis!!!
