Nina is a genius. Her voice is great and she IS that kind of Person. She did a lot of drugs in the 70/80 and talks about it openly. This is the time when she did Heroin and "found" Aliens and God and whatever you can find in this state of mind. Her interviews are hard to watch, because she is like that in interviews too. BTW Till is scared of her, because he is an act but she is the real shit :-). What i like about her is, that she makes real art. She is so wild and so herself, doesn't shy back from beeing and doing what she wants. Thats fucking brave.

Nina Hagen, the consummate performer and musician…..loved your reaction and laughed with you, man; if you can, listen to a translation of the lyrics (if one can possibly translate them from their snotty Berlin slang into another language), cause it makes all the difference to know what she’s singing about. She sings about how she's looking out of her open window onto the city street as she sees a flock of sparrows, which make her sad because they remind her of her ex. As she looks up to watch the birds she sees the sunset over the city and starts to cry uncontrollably. So "nature" is a flock of sparrows in the sunset over the city for city girl Nina. (The opera singing represents the beautiful scenery and the shrieks and funny noises are her wailing and crying.)

She became the forefront of radical musical change in Germany that led into the German new wave music style. Everything until that time was traditional "Schlager music". I was a teenager at the time and totally uninterested in this kind music. Then my sister advised me to take listen to Nina Hagen. So I put it on expecting nothing special, but i immediately fell in love with the record and bought it myself the next day. The whole album is fantastic and is still one of my favorite albums. One of her most beautiful songs is "Der Spinner (the lunatic/dreamer)". To explain the song. Shes wandering down the street when the sun goes down and suddenly for no real reason she has to cry. All her crasy sonet voice acting is about imitating this crying. She's really that kind of person. Nearly all her umphteenth appearances on talkshows were an excess of embarrassment. She's on one hand a kind of genius and on the other hand a real pain in the "rear". Again: Her talkshow appearances are the incarnation of the German word "fremdschämen". Once a politician left a talkshow in the middle of the show. That was the first and only time I agreed with a politician. Everybody with a sane mind would have left the show at that point.

Just generalizing by the way, every case is different. You can be crazy and a genius at the same time. If what you say about Nina is true then it must be an act but at the same time it doesn't have to be. She can do whatever she wants, act how she wants. If this is what makes her feel good, go for it! She seems to have a very wide audience who enjoys her music and that's fine with me.

@@klaus6540 I'm not sure what you mean... I wrote it in the previous post what I meant. Basically that person did not enjoy my reaction, to what I'm guessing he was offended I was laughing. I explained I did not know what the lyrics meant because I did not have a translation of the song. I read the lyrics afterwards and figured they were pretty serious. As for Nina's singing talent, it was never in doubt, I even mentioned it in the video. Was just laughing at her facial expressions, that's all. Hopefully, that clears it up.

Understandable. I only learned of the lyrics afterwards. Reaction was mostly based on her facial expressions. No worries, I know she's incredibly talented and an icon.

@@klaus6540 I'm not sure what you mean... I wrote it in the previous post what I meant. Basically that person did not enjoy my reaction, to what I'm guessing he was offended I was laughing. I explained I did not know what the lyrics meant because I did not have a translation of the song. I read the lyrics afterwards and figured they were pretty serious. As for Nina's singing talent, it was never in doubt, I even mentioned it in the video. Was just laughing at her facial expressions, that's all. Hopefully, that clears it up.
