"Naturträne" shows quite her full range. She is a full trained opera singer !
Finally someone who knows who Nina is
Naturträne is the next song from Nina Hagen that you should give a listen. It is from the same venue as today's song. However, it will show you that she can really sing.
Nina Hagen is the original Punk Queen from Germany! And she is still rocking! You should check out Seemann (a Rammstein cover). Top song! BTW she is classical trained !
Or Unbeschreiblich Weiblich!
Nina was an opra singer at aged 13 . . . The averge singer has 2-3 octaves . . Nina has 6 . . A piano has 7 1/4 octaves . .
Still going at 67 . .
Concidered the grandmother of german punk . . Take care .
Bye from NZ 💐👋🇳🇿twa
Nina Hagen - Naturträne are a phenomenal song. Nina Hagen was originally a trained opera singer which she shows in Naturträne but with a hint of a joke. Her band back then had a career of their own as Spliff.
Other great songs from her first album are Unbeschreiblich Weiblich, Rangehn and the very punky Pank
Nina came over from East Germany when the Wall was still up. She came over to the UK to recruit a band back in the late 70s but gave up and went back to West Germany and used German musicians instead. She did 2 LPs in German before switching to English.
Haha, your faces when she started singing! Nina Hagen was a punk legend when I was young here in Germany. Of course everyone had this album (me too). And the Nina Hagen Band later split up and it became another big German rock band called Spliff.
By the way, Nina Hagen's mother was a well-known German actress, her father a German poet and singer.
To understand the beginning of this song, you need to know how German television programs began in the 1970s (I think this song was recorded in the late1970s): "Dong, Dong, Dong : Guten Abend meine Damen und Herren, wir begrüßen Sie recht herzlich zu unserem heutigen Fernsehprogramm..." which means ... well "Dong, Dong, Dong, Good evening ladies and gentlemen we warmly welcome you to today's television program...". And this song is about wasting time watching TV.
"TV-Glotzer" was a cover of The Tubes' "White Punks on Dope" but with different lyrics in German.
From that December 1978 concert, try "Rangehn", "Unbeschreiblich weiblich", "Auf'm Bahnhof Zoo" and other tracks all taken from their brilliant debut studio album Nina Hagen Band played that night.
Her daughter Cosma was in my high school, so she visited the Christmas market and school-related events every year. She always looked like that. And her daughter was just a normal girl. Greetings from Berlin.
TV Glotzer is about TV addiction. The tune is from "White Punks On Dope" by The Tubes, which was about drug addiction. In Nina's case, it was about West German TV being received in East Germany before the Berlin Wall came down. The lyrics are pretty funny.
It's too bad we didn't get to hear her lower registers in this song. Love when she goes there 😎
Welcome to german Rock'nRoll! Try udo Lindenberg next! He is a living legend here!
The song starts with her telling that she feels lonely and has got no friends and that is why she has to watch television. It is a song about how television kills your creativity. The thing she tries to burn is a remote control. Straight from the heart at that time.
Your faces 😂😂
Nina is like the forgotten ant from addams family xD
she actually played the evil witch queen in the latest german snowwhite called: 7Zwerge
Naturträne by Nina Hagan is Incredible!!!
Our godmother of punk. Saw that show on tv, being 13 years old and way too young to enter westfalenhalle. In addition to all the other recommendations you should clearly listen to "Naturträne". live or studio version, both are great. And try to get your hands on lyrics, Nina sings some really crazy stuff.
And African Reggae!
You all should react to "Hocus Pocus" by the Dutch group, Focus! Listen to the '73 live version! 🔥
The great Nina hagen!!!
Nina did a ton of Covers as well as her Original stuff. "My Way" "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" are great examples of that. But if you want some of her own stuff, try "Hold Me" or "Tiere"
I love it. Thank you for the reaction❤
Thank you too!
Back to the early 80s. Nina Hagen was and still is a phenomenon in Germany and Europe. Punk-Queen🤘🤘🤘👌
Ich glotz TV - I watch (or: stare at the) TV. The camera she is wearing is a cameo to her song "Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen" (You have forgotten the color film).
The world needs more operatically-trained punk rock singers!
Nina Hagen was East German. Got kicked out. It took a lot to get kicked out from there. Usually you went straight to prison! Notoriously controversial. The TV interview in Austria jumps to mind!!! We youngsters loved her for that one. Against the establishment!
Brilliant if a bit nuts.
nina hagen's "tiere" is a great song
This is a cover from a "The Tubes" song: "White Punks On Dope", but she is simply amazing, and so was her band at that time. And I prefer her singing in German. She also did songs in English, but never as impactful as in her own language. Always loved her and I own two albums by her. I was a big fan!
Nice one ladies.
Seen her and the band several times in the late 70s (I am a 68 y old Dutch guy)
Grandmother of German punk.
Wonderful and heavy voice, like a bell!!!
Original opera singer in the GDR and exiled because of her controversial position towards the communist regime at the time.
Because she also was famous in West Germany the regime couldn't jail her, so she lost her citizenship.
After Nina Hagen split from her Band, they changed their Name into SPLIFF and were VERY sucessfull in their own Career.Nina's Camera on Stage was a Sign for her First Single....
If you ask me, Nina Hagen was unfortunately never able to reach that incredible musical quality again afterwards, but yes, I also liked the solo music of Spliff.
German legend Nina Hagen. 6.3 octaves. Coloratura voice and fluency in moving from contrabass sounds to the whistle register. I also recommend seeing:
Apocalyptica feat. Nina Hagen - Seeman
Nina Hagen - Fever (live 2004)
Nina Hagen - Ziggy Stardust Swedish TV 1980
Nina Hagen - Personal Jesus
Nina Hagen - Naturträne Live
You would have thought that some of those screeching high notes would have been enough to bring the Berlin Wall down. 😁 Fun review.
Nina Hagen - Naturträne is what we need!! Nina is the best!
Please react to Lena Lovich, lucky number, superb track
Awesome performance
Our GODMOTHER OF PUNK from Germany's EAST BERLIN before the Wall fell. The BEST Cover Version of the American Band TUBES and their Song WHITE PUNKS ON DOPE !!!!Her Mother and Daughter are also in the Show Business !
The lyrics of this one are about watching television BTW. In case nobody told you yet :-)
I didn't know there was a cover of The Tubes classic. Such a shame the original wasn't requested as you would love The Tubes with the singer Fee Waybill.
this is White Punks on Dope by The Tubes, sung in German
It s a Professionel Singer
I think she was either trying to light a stick of incense or a sparkler. My favorite Nina songs are "Born in Xixax" and "Hand Grenade".
For some later Nina Hagen, check out her amazing live rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow":

moin ut noorddüütschland vun de waterkant bremerhaven😊👍
.nina hagen, the original harley quinn from the 70s to today. unchanged and original, the first lady of punk!
please watch more song videos from nina.
allerbest un goote mien deerns👍😁
It was a "Sparkler".Of course you know that even in America :) ... Pronaunce the "a" in Hagen like the "a" in House.
She could do those high pitched singing in the Magic Flute and probably has.
Nina Hagen - Zarah!
When she lived in New York she sang English
finally
Classy, our old German Pank lady.👍🤘☠️
HI from germany must say I am not a big fan she was just a schandle nuddle but one song she realy was amazing and that was Apocalyptica - 'Seemann' feat. Nina Hagen (Official Video) (Rammstein Cover) is very good shame you didnt get that one
everyone may request any song, and "Seemann" has already been requested ... so, continue to watch this channel and you won't miss the desired reaction
It looks like she was trying to light a sparkler.
See White Punks on Dope, by The Tubes. It's where this came from. The Tubes were also very theatrical.
This is very Berlin , even today :-)
She seems Nice !
Mmmmmmmmawesome😊
she can hit high..yes,but you wont trust your ears, when you hear how low she can hit ;-)
is mean stare or watch
👍😂
It looks like an incence stik shes trying to light . . Not a joint . Lol . . Could be a sparkler . .
It was a sparkler! She succeed in the next song.
More Nina! "Naturträne", "African Reggae", "Seemann" !
Would be a good idea to tralnslate the lyrics before....and not only react about her show. It`s a critical song about our society. And put HER in the middle of the screen. SHE is the actress. The reason for my Thumbs down. All the Best from Germany.
Nina Hagen is totally overrated. Was this a patreon request?
If you say so... For early 1970ies GDR it was quite progressive, and the west had not too much similar to offer at that time...
