Definately a hard choice to make, again right tool for the job. The knippix is better for fasteners but the vise grips are more versatile especially when you are trying to hold stuff together. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
I love that vice grips can also hold a saw blade if you dremel out a little notch. No need to carry a leatherman just for its dinky 3" saw when you can pack 6" reciprocating wood, drywall, or metal blades that are the same length as the vise grips.
for a stripped nut or bolt? i would go for vise grip, if you max out the pressure before locking a curved jaw vise grip , it would grip more than you can squeeze using pliers
never found a use for vice grips. I have a pair in my tool box and can’t remember even reaching for them. pliers and wrench’s take care of everything I need personally. so I’m going with the cobras all day every day
Cool. Good vid; good to talk tools. One thing I would add is that the locking arm in the vise-grips can come loose if they open too wide (more likely with cheaper ones, I'd bet). I have two or three sizes of Milwaukee pliers in that same Knipex style and they're pretty good. Sure like the 'third hand' function of the 'grips, though. At the end of the day, it's the same reason I carry several knives; the tool for the job. Thanks, Keith!
Me personally I still would prefer vise grips over any Knipex pliers because they don’t lock and if you have a bolt that’s rusted on really tight it’s going to be a lot harder to remove a stuck bolt with just regular pliers and that’s what they are just channel locks I’ve tried using regular channel locks on rusted stuck bolts before and it was a nightmare and there are vise grips made that are specifically designed for removing bolts vise grips are so much more handy.
Knipex cobras work great at turning rusted or marred nuts and bolts. In fact I carry the 4 inch cobras with me everyday and they come in handy all the time. Just today I had to turn some stuck screws with a rounded head and they stripped so easily with a screwdriver. I used my cobras and they gripped so tight and perfectly that even with the short 4 inch lever handles it was a breeze. I do carry the leatherman crunch because it has a locking vise grip just in case, but most of the time it's not necessary or preferable.
I have been thinking about grabbing a pair of knipex . Which model is that ?? I have looked at a few sizes and couldn’t decide from the pic which would be right for me . The ones you have look like what I’m looking for !! Thanks for the video !! Take care Keifer

Yes agree

Very true 👍👍

I probably use the knipex more myself.. but sometimes the locking. Feature of vice grip is nice.

Thanks..
Two of my favorite tools. I carry both in a small tool kit in my edc backpack. They both have there place and uses. Great video 👍
Thanks definitely a great tool
How about using the vise grips to clamp down on the handles of the Knipex? 😁
You monster 💀

Fair argument 👏

I think having both is prudent….
Good call. 👍👍👍👍
I would carry both because different jobs require different tools
Good point 👍
...just being bias towards the Knipix. By the way we have number of stronger cobra - plumber - pliers made India....check them too!
Will do
Dont buy knipex locking pliers (their vice grips). They suck. First use, my pair stripped the teeth off. Such a waste of money.
Wow. Interesting.

This is the 5" pair. Very capable for their size.. easily goes in back pocket !!
You pronounced Knipex correctly thank you. I will let you off the Zebra pronunciation 😂
Thanks. Whew.
I've seen alot of videos that have talked about the Knipex channel pliers. I'm thinking about getting a pair.
They are pretty damn good.
Thanks! I never noticed the wire cutters on vice grips.
Yup they are there 👍👍
You make some great points thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic comparison, concise and practical
I just bought a Mafco pair
Not sure what that is. But I'll look it up.
Knipex are great and worth the money
Absolutely 👍🏼 💯
