Thanks for the video. I’m totally with you on this. I had a cutting disk break off on me once about 15 years ago. I was young and stupid. I was using an air powered angled die grinder that could reach about 20,000 rpm. Also did not have a guard on it. Disk basically exploded, one part hit my clavicle bone, ricocheted and got stuck into the drywall about 5ft away from where I was standing in my garage. It Just narrowly missed my neck and my carotid artery by about 2 inches. My wife was hysterical and drove me to the ER and I got some stitches. Literally saw my life flash before my eyes. I rarely use die grinders to cut metal anymore unless absolutely necessary, the RPM’s are just too high. I prefer using the 4.5” angle grinder which run at about half the rpm’s. In any case I never remove the guard but still would like the extra protection of a mask just to feel more secure. That day is always in the back of my mind and what a close call.
No, I think you'll be fine, if you're using this. In lieu of a windshield, you should have plenty circulating air as you're driving. If the vehicle is enclosed, just run your air conditioning... But in a dry environment you may not need anything. If you do find it fogging just get some lens defog spray
I just got this face shield because angle grinders scare me but I have to use them once in a while. How do you feel about the thickness of the face shield? I have another brand that I use at work in the hospital that seemed thicker than this one.
Yes, I see what you're saying, even though this one is thinner it is rated for ballistic impact on the mfgs website. Some face Shields may be thicker but just make sure that they're rated for ballistic impacts. The manufacturer's website should state everything they've been tested for. If it doesn't, then chances are they have not invested the money for that kind of testing. If you find another that you like, please let me know. This one seems to be working well for me, but I'm going to need to replace it at some point. Hey thanks for watching and commenting 👍
@@anesthesiadreamin, the one I use at work is Sellstrom Face Shield DP4 Multi-Purpose Safety Mask, sold on Amazon. I'm looking into the ballistic resistance to see if it's rated, it has the same ansi rating I believe. I use it in a Healthcare setting so it doesn't need to be ballistic rated but it just feels more robust than this other one, but like you said it may be similarly rated.
What i like about this one is that you can actually get one with the head gear for a hard hat hey man I used it one added it to my hard hat let my buddy use he brought it back with a cutting disc at the front of it if that hard hat was not on there I doubt he would be alive
