Yea, there is that balance. Desire to share vs real world interest. My kids were only mildly interested when they were younger. Now, they can't be bothered with fpv/RC. :(
The fact it has hdmi out is very good though, can replace your hdz rx or act as a ground station. I can imagine a decent amount of people buying this who dont mind the bulk
Yeah I feel this. I'm the weird drone nerd to all my friend and family. (The non drone friends lol 😆) Sadly I feel drones especially fpv will always be niche.
Great overview of the new HDZero fpv screen. Besides being able to share the experience of flying fpv with friends and family. This makes a great bench tool, much easier to use when working on your builds video system. HDZero and Analog. It has built-in analog as well as HDZero, auto switching and shared antennas. Happy flying everyone. 😎
@@NickBurnsFPV both, when im with the kids they can watch and when with friends its got very tribal with DJI watching DJI, WS watching WS etc - when we watch only in the goggles we are excluding our own friends, i've built a peli case that has a cap card for WS, cosmostreamer to view DJI, and now with the the HDZ monitor we can watch all 4 systems on 1 screen in the field :) wish you could buy a pre made one but then it would cost a fortune 🤔

Hi Nick, I like it, I have been flying analog and I still use my EV-800D as a monitor. Now people who use HDzerro can do the same. Thanks for the video and information about this monitor.
Thanks for the review! This is amazing! Love that they put Analog into it too. 100% will be ordering one some time this summer, not only a good bench tool, I don't have to have the analog module attached to the goggles for friends to watch (and hopefully get a good idea where I crashed too). Not concerned about no diversity for analog or 2 antenna's vs 4 on HDZero goggles, the price and feature set is well worth the price. With a Deinterlacing DVR to boot for Analog. Thanks for sharing this, Cheers!
We do have 3 generations of DJI FPV in the lifetime of the first generation of HDZero. They really need to speed up a bit. I know that it's harder with a custom chip, but maybe that wasn't the best choice.
I love how hd zero has options like this which makes me wish i could back them and their products and projects more they will always be the"poor mans" HD 👍🏻great review nick✌🏼
I got so burned out on the OSD issues at the beginning I went back to analog, pulled out the shark byte hardware and pulled the receiver module off the front of my goggles. Maybe time to give it another try? Is it easier to setup the osd?
Instead of video and smart audio you solder up a UART, same number of wires, so that’s not more difficult. Settings wise in Betaflight there is a HDZero preset, which is super convenient. In Alpha, Ultra, and Quicksilver flight firmwares it’s just one setting in one location (pretty self explanatory)… but if you don’t select the HDZero preset in Betaflight and manually set it up, you have to change the UART setting in the UART tab for MSP and select the HD OSD option in the OSD tab. Good luck, and happy flying.
Ordered one. Wondering if my ELRS controller will interfere with the monitor antennas. Mounted on my boxer/tx16s this would be great for backyard flying or a fixed wing!
Nice! Ive had a Skyvision HDZero monitor on a my X-lite for a while now but FINELY one that weights less and just in time as I'm finishing a custom build HDZERO/ELRS antenna tracker ground station to move the Skyvision to because I no joke have been looking for another lightly used Skyvison and have even considered buying those cheaper HDZero box goggles and putting its guts in a custom print frame to make my own monitor but not no more..... Thanks Nick, to bad no link on this....
I know, everyone says that you shouldn't try to pilot with this monitor, but I am going to try it anyway. What really interests me is the analog features which have de-interlacing and some conversion thing that is said to clean up the analog feed a bit. I am working on a ground station with light box and light hood. If it all works out for analog, then I might, maybe, actually try an HDZero setup on a quad. Currently, I am 100 percent analog and actually get really decent video.
@@sinanbana I have not yet bought the monitor. I have been busy with some Real Life issues like building a house. On the positive side, I have just completed my first aluminum frame quad build (a 3-inch). It has been very smooth and stable in the early flights. Testing continues.
The text is cut off on the TV because the TV has overscan enabled. If you set the HDMI input to computer or game mode, the overscan should get disabled. Thanks Nick.. I would like to have one. I've been running a cable from my goggles to my 10" monitor to share. This would be way more convenient.. Great review...🍻 Say, any chance you'll make IO2024❓

Thanks for another great review! Would you recommend it as an option to get to plug into my walksnail goggles x to fly 1s whoops.either analog or hdzero?
I have one on order and I'm really looking forward to it, but it really annoys me that you can't use USB-C power (and the power switch is backwards imo)
Ok I feel better about what happened to me yesterday. So I uploaded a video and had my description all done and somehow it was erased! Looks like it may be a youtube glitch seeing as your description is missing also Nick.
If you have an iPad (a modern one with USB-C), you can just buy a $15 USB-C capture dongle, a mini HDMI-to-HDMI cable, and use the Orion iPad app (buy the one the app recommends, not all work), and you'll have roughly $150 still in your pocket out of the $175 that you would have spent on this. The main downside is that this isn't wireless, but since I usually have my iPad Pro around with me anyway, it's one less device for me to carry around.
If HDZ comes out with a high quality box goggle, I sell my current goggles immediately… With age, focusing on the screens has become more and more difficult. They are too close from my face…
The internal argument on this one is strong. I really want one but nobody in my life shows any interest in drones.
