As a Prosper player myself I was furious as Dominic put 3 of the 4 exile cards from Share the Spoils at his library so no one could see, what it was or even attempt at casting those
Might just be me, but Share the Spoils from the Prosper Precon is one of my favorite cards right now. On top of synergizing well with Prosper, it helps everyone hit their land drops so that no one gets left behind. It's also super fun to see people make synergies with cards from their opponents' decks.
There's also this underrated gem called Reconnaissance, which can be activated at the end of combat step to untap attacking creatures after they've dealt their combat damage, essentially giving them vigilance.
Yeah Reconnaissance is nuts in Isshin, just picked up my copy. If can also be used to get in the attack triggers of cards like Lannery, and then remove them from combat as needed. Or good synergy with something like Adeline tokens when you might not want to run into a specific opponent, but still want the tokens
@@salvatorestabile5547 Isn't this true for almost every combo out there, though? Demonic Consultation and Tainted Pact were almost never used the intended way again after labman cards were created.
@@DarkEinherjar no? Completely different. New cards made older cards have more value but that didn't change how the older cards worked. Reconnaissance was never meant to do what it does but because of rules changes, the functionality of the card is much different.
@@salvatorestabile5547many older cards most certainly have changed functionality due to rules changes Almost all the "steal your opponents mana" cards in blue dont work anymore thank to the stack, and removal of mana burn (albeit in a small sense) changes ritual effects. Not to mention all wishes no longer being able to grab cards from exile, making them useless in EDH
Personally, if I were David, I would have used the Scheming Symmetry on either Dom or Johnny with the condition of finding removal for New Shane's stuff since he was already starting to get out of hand. Guaranteeing yourself one turn of immunity against the strongest player at the table really doesn't do much since they can just run you over the turn after that (which is what happened). Also, as someone with a Xyris deck, I get that Dom didn't just want to sit back and do nothing after that Smothering Tithe came in, but he really threw caution to the wind and went ham with card draw. I don't think it'd have been an issue if New Shane was down to 1-2 cards in hand (cause then it barely matters how many treasures he has), but he had plenty of cards, access to the cards from Share the Spoils, and an Esper Sentinel to keep drawing him more cards, so he never really ran out of gas.
Why would u play a dictate of kruphix into a smothering tithe? He literally could've blown up smothering tithe first one instead of giving the stupid powerful aggressive deck a ton of treasure
His deck requires opponents to draw extra cards to work that commander is a combo group hug deck that can go extremely wide when built right nothing like a wheel putting 15-21 snake tokens into play ect. And at that point the isshin deck was already extremely mana ramped due to the sword of animist going from 20 lands gaining 3 extra treasures a turn doesnt change much
No surprise the Isshin deck won, everyone was essentially gifting the player all the draw, mana, and resources they needed to just roll over everyone else.
Typically Mardu's two biggest weaknesses are lack of card draw, and lack of ramp, and the other players just gave him an excess of both of those for free.
Maybe ONE of the best cards. Satoru Umezawa with his blightsteel ninja takes people out in a hurry and there are all kinds of ninjitsu loops you can do with him. Also... Jin-Gitaxias is ridiculous if he can stay in play.

Genuinely curious, did you not know what Smothering Tithe did? Seems like you could of Boseiju'd that earlier and he'd never even of made it to Godo/Helm

at 6:10 why didnt david play profane tutor? it was exiled from laelia so not only could he play it for free since of the 0 casting cost, but he would have gotten a treasure netting a free tutor and a free treasure.
Am I mistaken or did Isshin only do 20 damage to David, although due to the extra combat from Godo I don't think it would have made a difference, so this is just a sanity check.
why not make it so both can be your commander? i have a friend that plays a deck with all rakdos watermark + 6 commanders so he can randomice it for full rakdos flaivor :D you dont need to go that far, but its a good inspiration.
They have very different strategies, so I don't think it would work in this case... I could build two different decks to acommodate both, but that would require me to get more copies of the optimized mana base, and that's kinda hard for me at the moment. 🥲
Strefan has a defined identity and his precon has good reprint value. Prosper is playing Simic and masquerading as a Rakdos player. I say the choice is clear, but it depends on what you like more, identity or pure value.
Prosper is boring. No two Prosper decks are different. You play against 1 you literally played against all the thousands of them. No uniqueness to the deck
cause carddraw is key. and esper does that pretty good on turn one (even better then rimora cause no upkeep to pay). It also falls of pretty fast, but even then it most likely replaice itself and still cost just one mana xD
Profane Tutor, or suspend cards in general, should not be run in Prosper. It makes sense in theory because if suspended it would be cast from exile. But the majority of Prosper’s card advantage comes from exiling the top card rather than draw to hand, and you can only suspend cards from your hand.
Gonna disagree. Sure there are nonbos that occur if you flip one off the top. But you can still draw into them and suspend then, and they are nice to hit when you Cascade off a 1 drop with Wild-Magic Sorceror. I run both Profane Tutor and Sol Talisman in mine, and so far I have been rewarded far more often than punished.
My experience has been the opposite. I draw one card per turn, maybe a couple more off sign in blood and deadly dispute. But I may exile 3-4 per turn off prosper, Chandra, stolen strategy, outpost siege. If I’m twice as likely to find a card by exiling it off the top, and that card can’t be played if found this way, I tend to shy away from them. After hitting profane tutor on an exile effect in my own list for the 3rd time, I cut it.
You dont want too many suspend cards but the upsides of profane tutor getting set up the turn before prosper comes down are so high its worth taking. Plus if you wind up casting a 1 drop in exile with wild magic you know you'll hit your tutor

It was easily the break out star for me too. I play it in Zedruu. It's nuts.

Isshin is probably the best cad from Neon Dynasty. Is a freaking beast, and you can build it with so many synergies.

I've yet to actually see anyone play Strefan, whether it be in the 99 or the command zone.

Because bad players would rather play a Combine Chrysalis into it on turn 2 rather than simply play a land and pass

Turns out being an ancestral recall by the time it makes it around table twice is pretty good.

You can cast cards like profane tutor off of cards like izzet chemister, some versions of prosper are built to take advantage of that.
