The brick should be clean, dry and absorbent before you apply Siloxane PD. So you will need to clean newly constructed and repointed surfaces before application. If the brick is clean you can splash water on the it to see if water absrorbs. If it doesn't, there may be a previously applied sealer or something present. If the water readily absorbs, the Siloxane PD should absorb too.
Hello George. Siloxane PD can cause a bonding problem with mortar depending on how long ago the protectant was applied. We suggest making sure the mortar joints are repaired and cured before waterproofing. If the joint needs to be fixed after applying Siloxane, we suggest testing the mortar in a hidden area to see if the mortar will stick to the brick previously treated with Siloxane PD. Of course, job site conditions can vary. If you have any questions, please give our customer care line a call at 1-800-255-4255.
Hi! Thanks for your interest. It's difficult to give an estimate due to regional differences in labor and product costs, but if you contact your local distributor they should be able to give you a better ballpark figure. That usually means you either over-applied the product or there was already a sealer on the concrete that repelled the water repellent. The only other thought is the floor was too smooth and didn’t allow it to penetrate properly. You should call Customer Care and ask for Technical since it could be any one of those things. 800-255-4255
We do recommend using a brush for some of our water repellents on our product data sheets. The problem with applying with a brush is that there is a tendency to over-apply the product. You just have to be careful not to do that and we try to steer people away from a brush application. Spraying is always better because you can control that better with fan tips and pressure, especially if you are a commercial applicator. Our product data sheets explain how to do that very well, and that’s why we want you to work form the bottom up, so the rundown that we recommend will soak back into the surface.
I see it has a 10 year life span. Can I paint over it on a block wall? If so, what happens after 10 years; do I reapply it over the painted surface??
Good afternoon. What sprayer is compatible to be used with this product?
Any pump or backpack sprayer should be acceptable.
How long will the protection last?
This product, Siloxane PD, has a service life of 10 years.
Any preparation of the brick needed prior?

Would this affecting any future rough casting ?
There is a possibility of adhesion issues with anything applied over the top of a Siloxane PD-treated surface. We recommend always testing to confirm.
Will this product work on painted brick
No. This product will not work on brick that has been painted.
what happens if it does come in contact with glass?
you will need new glass.
In my experience products of this type should be applied by brush, otherwise the fluid simply runs off !
