The reason why he takes double MR runes is because Thresh' passive grants him armor. So consider that when playing this pick :)
Isn't his base armor still super low to warrant armor against AD matchups?
you should always take hp in runes, it outscales armor/mr lvl 5
He took double MR cuz that was a screenshot against AP laner. He had double armor in the actual gameplay.

@@weshouldbelovers armor and MR gives "effective" health which makes healing and regen more effective on you, it matters more in the early game. For example pots will heal 20% of your max hp instead of 15% max hp if you took HP shards.
I love Ady's style lol, he just thinks what he wanted to do top, or just simple as finding something that can both deal and absorbs damage, then just casually plays them regardless of the champion/meta. Truely Gigachad.

there's a guy that has a whole channel about thresh in top lane and other off meta stuff. he isn't high elo but his thresh knowledge is very good. His channel name is Cryo.

But whether his version of thresh top is actually viable or not is still to be questioned.
He usually goes Titanic hydra/bruiser or real tank.
I'm approximately his elo and tried it a few times, and while yeah this pick works somewhat when surprising enemies, it can't imo be meta in high elo when you meet the same people often.
Your damage/survivability ratio is mediocre as best, his base stats are still originally done around a support's stats.
And while the durability patch helped him not to get tower dove if he misses a single hook, it still didn't help Thresh a lot: Thresh doesn't have an armor growth like other champions, he just doesn't gain armor with levels because of his passive.
Since the durability patch was done around resistances growth, Thresh instead got more hp per level, and not that much honestly.
If i'm gonna play a tank top with high damage and CC, i'd rather go ornn, and most bruisers are better at doing most things Thresh top does apart from CC :/

This challanger had use alot of support including: taric, rakan,... ( most likely champion has strong roaming) to go top. I remember he once use taric and solo kill wukong 3 times in a row

You have to take into account that thresh top works because players are not used to the match up. So Ady has experience against all matchups, but the others have none against thresh

I play something similar in ARAM when I get Thresh a lot too. Vs a non tanky team you can go with Kraken, beserkers and such as well. Runaan’s is fun to use too since Thresh’s auto is considered a ranged auto attack. Basically building thresh as a ranged adc. Once you get Kraken en boots it starts to get fun. Edit: you might want to pick up some lifesteal for sustain.
Imagine taking Runnan instead of RFC 2nd item for long range slaps. Thresh doesn't have sustain damage. This troll pick has been in the game since he was released. People tried to make the crit tresh with sheen in build for literal decade. Never worked, after his E passive damage goes away he just doesn't do enough if he's pure AD. Building him bruiser for spacing is far more viable, because his kit allows him to peel for his team while still doing some damage if you play him in solo lane. Even on ARAMs you'd probably do far more damage with Iceborn, Berserker greaves, Wits end and maybe Warmog as third item. That would allow you to deal damage and CC but also regain HP since on ARAM Warmog is OP item, thus allowing you to actually tank something for your team. Other option is full support CDR build so once you get 90ish AH you can perma hook someone. AD Thresh has always and will always be suboptimal troll pick.
Might try this Thresh build in Aram. Such a fun build

I love heartsteel Titanic and fulll tank with berserker greaves and lethal tempo in ARAM. Almost guaranteed to do most damage and tank most damage as well while having highest CC score

Recommended to actually not take berserkers as thresh
Going mercury's for cc or tabis (steelcaps) for heavy ad will be much more beneficial almost every time

Eh... I wouldn't be worried. From my time watching Cryobeat for fun, I know that Thresh has a horrible gimped auto-animation specifically to prevent things like this happening to him. His first auto always has a wind-up time to prevent Thresh from properly being able to kite people, meaning he can't properly abuse attack speed unless he stands still.
Then there's the fact that Dobby even threw shade at this build by calling it troll and derailing the video into a Shyvana spotlight mid-way through.
