Well that depends. In most areas of the US, the only legal exhaust system on a modern vehicle is the OEM design, or such that meet their specs. Modifying it in any physical form would be illegal. Then there's also the sound pressure level test. I'm pretty sure his exhaust would fail most area levels. But that's only a guess. ;)
A few family members are cops and I love to mod my car they say its all up to the officer but most of them dont care about Tinted windows, loud exhausts thats just the stuff they add to your ticket after you do something worth their time. All though if its a "slow" day yeah you might get unlucky. This is in California other states may differ

In most cases, true. It depends on the circumstance(s) and the attitude of the driver. But if it wasn't up to the LEO, it would be legal. Or they wouldn't have the "option" to write a warning/citation.

To his credit, the cop was cool. An uncool cop and things could have turned out much differently. But there's ALSO a point to be made that being respectful, courteous, and agreeable is EXACTLY the reason this guy got a warning and not a knee in the back! Act the fool, and it really doesn't matter WHAT color you are. Had a white guy done the same thing, he too would have been pulled over.
I got pulled over a few weeks back. He just wanted to let me know I had a tail-light out. Cool guy. But again, I did all the right things. I had my window down, I had my hands on the wheel in view, and I greeted him the same way this guy did. Using the word "officer" immediately shows respect for his authority and the job he has to do.
Good cop, good stop, and a good back and forth. And hats off to you driver for obviously understanding how NOT to become a statistic!

A cop pulled me one time for “accelerating too quickly” even though I stopped at the speed limit. They put that law in order because when cops see people street racing but the people racing see the cop and stop before they break the speed limit, the cops then use the law of “accelerating too quickly” as a way to still give you some sort of ticket since you couldn’t quite get one for racing. It’s the cops way of saying “still got ya ass”

Makes sense. The speed limit isn't the only rule of the road. And at the end of the day, rapid acceleration has the potential to create a more dangerous situation in comparison to a more moderate acceleration. So that's when the cop's discretion will come in.

Those aren't "mid-mufflers".. they're called resonators. They prevent the annoying droning noise during highway driving etc. I would've kept those and removed the actual mufflers if you wanted it louder
