If You know how to use the Syhcrhorn Engine, VSL is simply the Best! the control and programmability is outstanding, Thank You Guy for this Video, Duality Strings rose the bar ridiculously high.
Interesting thing is i wonder if you could almost do this already if you have some of the other vsl products. People will bound to already have smaller sections and solos that they could layer and get the exact same effect. Love your teaching manner Guy. The lecturer we all needed at Uni and never got.
@@ThinkSpaceEducation I would really like to get my hands on some VSL stuff at some point but it is getting the funds and CPU resources to run them haha. But they sound real high quality from I have seen. I have Spitfire Solo Strings but they are so buggy and destroy my computer and Studio One, they cause problems on projects all the time! They sound great and work in literally anything which is why I haven't moved on but I am beginning to lose my patience with them and actively seeking other solo string libraries.
Hello Guy, well you explained the library better than VSL themselves. Congrats for that! My question: I own the Synchron Strings Pro and wonder if the big set of Strings in the Duality is better than the Pro or not - what do you think? and for sure the small section of the Duality is really cool ...
It's different. Duality has lept very high up my go to strings list - if you already have pro? Not sure unless you can pursuade Paul at VSL to do a crossgrade offer!
An other fresh video made by Our Guy just the day before! And in real time again. No cheat. Some drink margaritas while being massaged on the beach of Pattaya but no, this man is not made with the wood of frozen old videos shot in advance two years ago, he's always on the go and don't sell you old fishes. (Or maybe our estimate friend cannot plan his video releases, du know...)
Love the videos, Guy. I've been following you for the last several months and have finally started composing myself as a result. I've learned a lot from you, thanks. Just wondering, what is the make and model of the touchscreen mixer you were using in the second room?
Like parts of this library. Shorts - some of the Celli mics. Not 600 worth that is for sure. They should have diverted more attention to wider array of legatos.
16:12 I think you're dead right, Guy. The best libraries for making music with are the ones you HAVE, not the ones you WISH you had. My only library (not counting freebies) is BBCSO Core. Which is a great allround library, and I'm certainly making use of it. It would be nice to have BBCSO Pro, and any number of other libraries; the spirit is willing, but the pocket definitely isn't. So I'm making the most of Core. I'm in the middle of realising Bartok's 3rd Piano Concerto, a work I had always wanted to play. Now that I have my own private orchestra (Core), I'm doing it!! So far, I only have one track out using Core. th-cam.com/video/EFkhkXAh0es/w-d-xo.html . I just read a comment on Facebook about it this morning. The commenter wondered which part I had played! She hadn't realised that I had played everything, and hadn't realised that the orchestra she was hearing was actually a Software orchestra! I regarded that as very high praise, if people didn't know it was a software orchestra!
That's a really nice piece well done! I love BBC Core - its the library we recommend to all our MA students. The only problem with Core is the lack of things like Bass Clar but you can add that from elsewhere.
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Exactly. Core is an absolutely fantastic tool for a hobbyist composer like myself. Core has effectively given me my own private orchestra, whose sole job is playing my music. Beethoven never had that luxury. Yes, there are missing members, but these can be added from other sources as needed. I, too, have been recommending Core to anyone who wants their own orchestra. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my comment, as well as listen to my piece.
I have so many string libraries.....combined i have a string section of over 3000 players! I dont want any more string players, perfectly nice people that they are 😅. Although, "Tiny String Players" 8:12 library would be an interesting one. I'm learning not to impulse buy.
Hi Guy i was wondering if you critique peoples work i am trying to get in to library music and have a couple of tracks but i am just not sure if they are suitable i am very self conscious of my mix as my room sucks and i have a pair of dt770s and a pair of sennheiser HD598 open backs but my mix sounds so different in each pair
When you mess up at 6:29, I thought that sounded really interesting. Now I was wondering, when you fix errors like that, is it because you think it sounds wrong? Or do you remove it for the sake of simplicity for the video? If it's the latter, I get it; you need to make a video within a certain amount of time and can't always faff around. But if it's the former, then maybe you could try leaving mistakes in sometimes and see where it leads? There's been a lot of times in these sorts of showcase videos where you're improvising something and then you "mess up", and it ends up sounding super colorful and I like it a lot. But then a second later you go back and erase it. It's a little disappointing, because those moments of error usually make something vastly more interesting than keeping the music strictly diatonic all the time. "Happy accidents", as Bob Ross would say. Anyway, I've been watching your videos for a long time and I love what you do, lol :D Just thought I'd comment on something that I've noticed repeatedly throughout the years on different videos.
My question is - with all of the tech out there, is it intentional that all software is forced to make strings sound cheap by contract? I doubt these players would enjoy having their sounds duplicated which would allow BBC, Hollywood etc., to not need them anymore.
Sample orchestration will never be as good as an actual live orchestra. It can get close, but a live orchestra adds that extra 20% or so, that just makes it sound more special.
(Just sayin’, I far prefer you in the shed to the studio. Much less uptightness in view of the garden & the birdies 😁 🦜🌸🌺☀️🌷) Thank you for the knowledge-sharing! 🙏❤️👏😁

I will!

Exactly! Use any solo or chamber library over a larger section and you're in business - - - - and thank you
My guy Guy, doing great work in the music world 🌎. I enjoyed this video as usal.

Ha ha, hey guy, my guy Guy is that the same as you guy Guy? If so, agreed, my guy Guy and your guy Guy are the guy!
14:30. Made me sit up and pay extra attention but then I think you also did it justice, Guy.
These sound absolutely fantastic, probably the best sounding string vst on the market to my ears.
Its right up there to be honest

I've been looking at this library. Thank you for showing it to us! And I've done the "Sampled Orchestration". It's great!
Excellent - this library is truly wonderful
I always like your humour plus it is a great sound
Thank you for this wisdom, sir 🙏🏾

LOL that accidental keyboard hit... very dramatic! You should intro that way every time!

64 megabytes? Luxury! I used a BBC model B micro. Top of the range. 32 kilobytes.
32kb? Luxury, we lived in a hole in the road with a korg sampling delay, 1kb 2bit uphill both ways...
Hi guy, can you please do a berlin string (not first chair) vs Spitfire Albion Neo? Thanks!

Lets say, hypothetically, someone may have an Akai sampler of their own. And lets just say they would like to… creatively acquire your demo.
Thoughts?
Feel free
sounds great. quite expensive though. maybe someday
Its a pro piece of kit but the standard edition is around 500 and in effect youre getting a large symphony libary and a chamber library in one
