  • Not far from Stow-on-the-Wold, the village of Naunton sits in a small valley along the river Windrush. Our travelling companion Herbert Evans didn't have much to say for the place, but we still certainly found it to be a peaceful spot.

    I love the cawing of rooks, a sound of an English spring. Thanks for another wonderful film.

    Naunton is my home. I grew up there. For me there is nowhere on earth quite like it. Thank you for your kind words on my little piece of England

    Thirty years ago I remember looking down on Naunton when driving from the Fosse Way to Cheltenham, where I was working as a locum for six months. It looked very enticing. I didn’t get round to visiting the village, though I did cycle from Cheltenham, up the Cotswolds scarp, to Guiting Power and other nearby villages. At that time I did not know that some of my direct ancestors came from this area. I have ancestors who were baptised and buried in Naunton, Temple Guiting and Lower Swell, among other places round here. I visited Naunton for the first time last weekend. Thanks for your video: a very nice reminder of my visit. (I find your voice and delivery perfect for this subject.) I feel privileged to have a personal connection with such a wonderful area of England.

    Thanks for showing us around inside the lovely church. My favourite part was the pulpit! I’m glad you were able to enjoy the local pub. Good food and friendly people 👍👍

    What an absolutely delightful little documentary! As an American, I'd never even heard of Naunton, but I feel as if I know it intimately after your lovely presentation. Thank you so much! I'll have to check this place out when I visit Britain. Greetings from Los Angeles!

    Even a proud Yorkshireman like myself can appreciate the beauty and tranquilityof these vilages. BTW, I have a Book of Psalms produced by Shuckburgh & Reynolds Ltd. Presumably your late brother's company?

      Absolutely my brother's company. Isn't it a beautiful edition? I have a copy myself. Take care and thanks for watching.

    Next time we go to Stow we will have to make a detour there. Lovely video as ever and a treat for Sundays.
    Please could you spend just a little more time filming the streets and houses so we get a better feel for the place?

    What a peaceful place- thanks for sharing. Have you ever heard of a village/small town called Rosewood that existed as late as the 1820's?

    • @TheCotswoldExplorer
      @TheCotswoldExplorer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am afraid not. There seems to be some suggestion of a place near Winchcombe but I can find no real record. Sorry.
