(Did you know that, originally, pink was "the boy's colour" and blue was "the girl's colour"? Pink being seen as "pale red" and red being a "male" colour for its association with blood and fire, and "manly" violent things like that. So pink is "man light", as it were. Then blue was for women because blue is a serene and calming colour, like the sky or the sea. But then, weirdly, after World War II, the supposed "gender colours" just flipped over and now pink was for girls and blue was for boys. Which, you know, tells you just how valid this "this colour for this gender and this colour for this other gender" idea really is, when they just randomly flipped it over halfway through and everyone just goes along with it anyway. Flipped on a dime, so couldn't really have represented anything intrinsic or fundamental about the genders at all.)
Anyway, yeah, "his and hers" is a special phrase. A marketing thing to indicate that it's a paired package for opposite sex couples. The plural possessive "their" - which you're right is what it ordinarily should be - is deliberately split into "male singular possessive and female singular possessive" to emphasise the "this is a paired package for an opposite sex couple" thing.

The math at 11:43 is incorrect. The couple's PC actually adds up to $3,413, making the difference much smaller. Without the need to put so much hardware in one case, and eliminating the difficulties of AMD CPU with NVIDIA graphics in unraid, an AMD machine for separate PC'S could have brought the two scenarios to very close in cost.

I run an unraid gaming machine. Ryzen 3900x, 32GB's ram, 24tb storage and growing. Really cool setup, i don't think i could go back to a bare metal desktop again. Its so good to just fire up extra VM's for testing software without changing anything on my main gaming vm all while serving media to the house 24/7 through plex and emby.

This is pretty cool! Of course, most people wouldn't use a PC like this, but imagine if something like this was offered preconfigured for consumers. I think a lot of people would jump on the idea of one computer running basically two computers.

The software they're using to run the entire thing the way they are is why they fly through it. If you do what the paid software does manually it takes a *lot* of work. Check out vfio on the arch wiki

Unraid is a software RAID program for linux, but unraid uses something else as the hypervisor to control the VM's. All via Linux. Windows 7 pro had a virtualization software built in as well too, dubbed the "XP Mode". But it was very rudimentary, and slow. Now a days, It's almost seamless unless you go cloud based, which makes it feel like XP Mode again.

GPU passthrough makes massive sense for core-heavy platforms. To chicken out at the first sign of trouble to switch to the competitor is exactly what I've written: guerrilla marketing.
If it is really impossible to pull it off on AMD, well, research that and explain it in the video. But to announce an AMD build and switch to Intel at the very first hint of a problem is shady at best, especially with cutting edge stuff and on a topic where a lot of viewers might take legitimate interest in. For example, Intel has nothing on Threadrippers, probably the best platform for this type of work by far. So a working AMD example might be quite educational.
I like LTT and Linus, but this was a low point. First time I watched it I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

@@karaloop9544 I'm with you. I'm actually planning a pass-through build (Linux enthusiast, but gaming...) using an AMD CPU (once I get my hands on a 4000-series APU) and an nVidia card (...3060? Maybe.).
This video forces me to reconsider my choice of CPU and do some additional research, which is good, but on pretty bad data, which is bad.
So I was, and still am, with you on them doing a half-assed job on the AMD pass-through. Which is why I tossed out a facetious insult towards the LTT team, after upvoting your comment.
Also, I'm with you on once you've typed out something long and thoughtful, and you notice that you may have misread what you're responding to, you'll still want to post it. ;)
@@c99kfm from the video, I got an impression that it was Unraid specifically which was the problem, not GPU pass-through. So, if you're not using Unraid (and why would you), you might have more luck with AMD.

I just LOVE the paint job on that PC! Easily one of my favourite pinks!
I used Aster to multiseat on my Windows machine. As far as I can tell it offers you the full capabilities of the machine on each "seat", which meant that running two instances of a moderately demanding videogame on a single gpu/cpu was a blast.

I wouldn't say cutting edge virtualization technology, Linus. This is a technology that has been available to power users since the early 2000s and was already available in the commercial space in the late 90s. It has gotten better over the years but the capability of 2 VMs with dedicated graphics and HIDs has been available for the last 10 years in the prosumer space. I have been running ESXi for my home server that is also connected to several HIDs in different rooms for over 10 years. Any Unix-like system is multi-user from the times of the original Unix, however, in 2001, a dual-socket dual-GPU computer with decent specs to be able to run two instances of a game simultaneously could have cost you $10000+, at least in current dollars.

I am fairly certain that an SGI Onyx workstation had dual simultaneous users without virtualization in 1993. Course it cost a whopping $180k+ in 2020 dollars and only ran at 250Mhz and probably dimmed the lights when you flipped it on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but such setups are not allowed by many games anymore. That is, running Windows as a VM will result in getting kicked or even getting banned. Battle Eye already does this. Linus, you can do a video on this.
