Really enjoying these bike videos! I've used that Permatex Steel Weld before. The retainer tabs holding the spring mechanism in the column shifter in my EB II broke off, sending the spring and retainer flying. Clamped it back together, used a blob of Steel Weld to hold the retaining disc in place, hey presto! It's been a number of months now and it's perfectly fine. Much less hassle than removing the entire column to repair it.
Great work as usual boss! Grrr... Seeing all of those dowel pins hammered into the block just makes me boil. I have yet to disassemble anything "worked on" by the P.O. that wasn't a complete disaster. Best as always from me and Frankers!
I found this one yesterday in the YT suggestions. I didn't get the notification. I think YT is up to it's usual shenanigans. I didn't get the notification for the live feed either. YT is like the HAL 9000, it makes it's own decisions. "Open the pod bay door HAL." "I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that."
I follow another guy who does a lot of small engines like brigs n straton. Repairs a lot of alloys and pot metal stuff the same with 2 part epoxy. When it's just flashing over he shapes/sands the repair with a moist finger. It has a really good finish.
Fantastic as usual Peter, thank you. I'm going through a similar process with my Suzuki GT750, amazing how few peopled seemed to know about the locating pins. Feel your pain with delays. Keep the vids coming!!
Great work on the ring-ding Peter! For mixing, I have a huge pile of old hotel door access cards which make dandy goop spreaders and if you cut them in strips, superb mixing sticks. When done - into the bin. Hey - how is you little Starlie working?
Hi Peter, those cards would be very useful! Back in the early 80's we had a computer at school that had to have every line of code marked with a pencil on an individual card, so even a modest program used quite a few cards... everyone wanted the expired cards for everything including shopping lists! As for the Starlie, it's perfect and really glad I did it, although no cars are getting too much use in this lockdown, cheers.
I reckon a TIG welder would've fixed that broken bit there Peter. Looking back on Covid lockdown, that made everything difficult. Someone with TIG expertise could easily restore that and make it as strong as original.
I have used devcon aluminium epoxy in the past for a outboard motor anti cavitation plate (worked) you may already know if not hope you can use this information to your advantage Mr Anderson
Hi Peter your gt 250 videos are fantastic. I’m facing the same problems with kickstarter bush pins. I’ve got anew return spring installed but it doesn’t spring back as I tightened the cases it gets stiffer. I’m a novice but I’d appreciate any tips on how to pre tension the kickstarter return spring.!

That's not good Harvey, but who knows how this whole YT thing works. I can send links via email if there are any other anomalies, cheers.
Friday evening, some beers and a video from Mr Anderson. How's the tranquillity?

nifty repair there Peter :)
Peter, the part of your beverage that's tea is healthy. It's all the other stuff folks add to it that isn't.
Yes David, don't I know it haha, cheers.

Did you ever consider buying Some aluminum brazing rod and raise the peace in with an asiidlean torch just a thought mate 👌
Had a few of these "back in the day", worst problem I remember was those awful rings that hold the exhaust manifolds on the heads.
Glue !!you mean weld !
