    Good to know that you need to be a HOT GODDESS to be able to melt metal.
    Joking asside, thank you for this tips and tutorials!
    I wanted to make customized rings and jewelries for a while now, but was very lost with how to aproach it with my limmitted budget. This soldering method seems to be the answer since I also need a soldering iron to fix some of my electronics which would hit 2 birds with 1 stone!

    The solder tip would take solder due to oxidation you can use a wet sponge to shock that off also a scrub pad to aid in cleaning. Also when your done using the iron you need to tin the tip to prevent the oxidation

    • @eugeniaedits
      @eugeniaedits  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Do you suggest using tip tinner to prevent oxidation or covering tip in solder is enough after I am done soldering? Now I know what wet sponge does:) thank you!

    • @badger2566
      @badger2566 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just a ball or solder should work. Tip tinner can help if your trying to get it to take solder again but you need to use the sponge to shock it off then tin with solder. You can get a kitchen wire pan scratch pad and that will help remove oxidation off the tip

    • @badger2566
      @badger2566 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if you leave the iron on for extended periods of tip will oxidize the tip as well

    Amazing! I thought I wasn't doing it right but now it's likely I had the incorrect solder and iron! How do you connect the tiny diamonds together on the quartz ring?

    • @eugeniaedits
      @eugeniaedits  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Rhea! Thank you so much for your comment ☺️ I am so glad the video was helpful! Connecting a rhinestone is a little bit tricky here’s what I do: I basically melt the base that I am trying to add the tiny rhinestones on. So I would create a pool of solder if that makes sense and then while solder is still in the liquid form I would use pliers and carefully place rhinestones onto that pool of solder. You would have to operate very quickly because solder as you know hardens very fast.
      Once solder hardens it acts like glue and keeps rhinestones in place. ☺️ I will be posting more videos on soldering and I will def show how I set tiny stones. ☺️☺️☺️

    I stumbled upon your video looking for information on a soldering iron that's good for jewelry making. Thank you for making this video! It has helped me make up my mind and I ordered one. You're video was very informative. I love your personality and your unique style of your rings! I have a question... someone asked at what temperature you use to solder jewelry and you said 450 degrees. What I have been reading is 650-700 is best for lead free solder. Is 450 just the best working temperature for this iron? I'm going to be giving this a try soon. Nervous!

    • @eugeniaedits
      @eugeniaedits  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so sweet! And I am so glad I was helpful! Thank you for encouraging - this means the world to me! So temperature wise you will be able to see at what point its TOO runny / melty for you to work with. 450 to 500 worked for me. I noticed if I up it over 500 it gets too runny. But! Dont be afraid you will see what works best for you but just testing it.
      I think if you are working with flat surfaces like stained glass high flowing solder might be a good thing. BUT! If you are trying to work vertically (like I do with most of my rings) I try to keep a solder at a pliable state rather then drippy state. So maybe that is the difference.
      Try it and you will be fine! So excited for to start. That iron is my favorite and has been working great for me.
      Thank you once again!
      Eugenia 😍

    Girl! Your stuff is amazing! I am a self taught crystal artist and I have never wanted a soldering station more! I’ve been using wood burning tools and a 25w weller from Home Depot. Do you still use this iron? Thanks! Xoxo from Wisconsin 😁

    • @eugeniaedits
      @eugeniaedits  ปีที่แล้ว

      OMG! You literally made me cry! ❤️ THANK YOU for being so sweet!! Yes!! This iron is AMAZING! It comes with different tips too! But I am still using the same tip - it does not oxidize if condition it ( if you cover the tip with solder and leave it covered for protection against oxygen). I used to use wood burning tool when I was a kid! I want to get dremel soon! I am so excited for you to start! That soldering iron is amazing and you wont be disappointed. I bought total two, first one (different brand) was awful, but this one is great! Nice to meet you! Thank you so much for your support!!!!

      @eugeniaedits  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thank you so much! I am glad I was helpful! I usually keep it around 450 f and it’s enough for the type of solder I use. At 500 and up it solder seems to be more too runny for me. But it might depend on the solder wire you get ☺️

      Awww! Thank you! Yes! I buy them the band and then add solder on it :) The ones are used are said to be 925 silver but I doubt they are 100% silver as solder does get stuck to them. So they might be silver coated. They are also adjustable - so it’s good when it comes to different sizes:)
      You are so sweet! Thank you for your comment! You have made my day! 🥰🥰🥰

    If my jewelry is golden color, wich wire do I need?

    • @eugeniaedits
      @eugeniaedits  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rubi, you would have to use silver solder wire but then use liquid gold leaf to paint silver parts. I am not aware of any gold solder so unfortunately most of soldering is done in silver.

      @NEW BLOOMING MOON first, thank you for answering 😊 I don't intend to do big things, I just want to make like good finishes. For example I want to complete closed the ends of my bracelets or collars.

    SO...I started soldering but just recently I noticed the foil tape is lifting.....why would this happen? I am taking all the steps needed to ensure it sticks...what am i doing wrong?

    • @eugeniaedits
      @eugeniaedits  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carrie! So this is happening because you might have touched the tape with your fingers a little too much. Or the surface of the stone / material you were attaching tape to had some grease. So I suggest using rubbing alcohol to clean surfaces before attaching a tape.
      Another reason could be you might have been repositioning tape too many times and and it lost its adhesion.
      Another reason could be that the tape might have not been pressed hard enough to the surface of the stone/ material.
      You can fix the existing piece by using a little of E6000 glue and press the tape back it i the stone.
      Another solution is to use two parts Apoxy resin - it will create even stronger bond.
      I hope this helps! So happy you are experimenting with soldering! You will do great it just takes a little bit of practice♥️
      Eugenia ♥️

    Not real JEWELRY soldering, C'mon.....that's for circuit boards. You have great personality, you can make the leap, and start properly. We believe in you!
