    Nicely done. The Mrs. appreciated hearing Syd talk thru the mental part of dropping.

    Real stuff. You make progress, but still need to be brave enough to make the decision to call it off when it feels wrong. Nice work, you two.

    Syd, great riding. Nice work on the drops. No over thinking. Just relax and go with the flow. Have a fun Enduro at Santa Fe Big Mountain. Enjoy.

    Just saw this (even though it's 5 years old). This is inspiring because I know you're a great rider, but felt hesitant to do the drops at Jagged. You see the vids of people really flying down JA, and it honestly made me want to do it less, not more. Your video shows that it's OK for even a VERY GOOD rider to have a little hesitation on big drops.

    Great vid. It really inspired me to gather my courage and learn how to do drops. Two skills sessions later and things are coming together nicely. My husband has even built a ramp for me to practice on. You did awesome at the Enduro. Happy shredding.

    Great work! Knowing when to back down and when to go for it is super important. Gotta hit it when you're feeling it! I tried some of my first jumps last week and stopped myself once I knew I had gone far enough for one day, excited to go back and go a little bigger next week!

    My mate and I do sessions like this all the time, and if you keep the mood chill and stoked, it always results in significant improvement. Like when you guys rode with Brian and Seth, just doing things with friends over and over again is so much fun. Just gotta do it on more trail jumps eh

    Those used to scare me too when not at high speed. Best way to cure that is break it down into a more trials like approach. Work on bunny hops to get the pitch control, work on big, low speed drops to loose the fear.

  • @OliverBatchelor
    @OliverBatchelor 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I always feel like I'm not going fast enough to do any jumps - but then I can't imagine going any faster without being totally out of control. How much do you really need to be able to bunny hop to jump properly? I can't bunny hop to save myself, so I pretty much avoid any kind of jump on the trails.

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the jump. Most jumps are made to be hit at a certain speed, so if you aren't making the landing, you're probably not going fast enough. That being said, if you don't feel comfortable going faster, you shouldn't! At which point you need to start adding some pop (i.e. a bunny hop) to go farther at the same speed...

  • @streddaz
    @streddaz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice work Sid! How come Macky is riding the road bike? Surely the suspension of the mountain bike would be better on the wrist? Is it so you can’t hit the fun stuff 😉

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's because the angle my wrist has to be in to hold mtb grips hurts, but it's only on the road bike hoods! Better explanation in our last video!

    When Im jumping on dirt jumps sometimes my feet or foot will come off the pedals, why does this happen? And how can I keep my feet on the pedals?

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! I suspect what's happening is that you are getting static in the air instead of continuing the row, anti-row movement. It's one of the things Lee talks about with jumping. Hard to explain, but basically you treat a jump like a big roller and push down the backside.
