fIVE Podcast Ep1: Sophia Wittrock & Larissa Schmid, Founders of Jesango

In this very first episode of our fIVE Podcast, we give you a short overview of the start-up scene in Germany, followed by an interesting conversation with Sophia and Larissa, about why and how they decided for an entrepreneurial journey and what they love about it. Both have entrepreneurial parents, but also highlight how much the support of an Entrepreneurship Center and its connections, people and network can help to set up your business model right.
The short quiz at the beginning is based on the Female Founders Monitor, a study by the Bundesverband Deutsche Startups e.V. and Google for Startups on the importance of female founders for the German startup ecosystem. The goal of the Female Founders Monitor is to support women entrepreneurs in Germany and to promote the openness, diversity and competitiveness of the startup ecosystem. On the basis of facts and figures, the FFM raises awareness of the conditions for female founders, identifies current challenges and fosters social change.
"How to create a successful team?", is the focus of module 07: ‘Together you’re less alone’ in the online course “Introduction to Entrepreneurship”. Thomas Cooney, a professor at the Dublin Institute of Technology talks in his video about the essentials of building ‘Entrepreneurial Teams’. The course is open, free and accessible for everyone. This episode was recorded in December 2020. In March 2021, the founder of Jesango decided to sell their business to head out onto new entrepreneurial adventures. Whereas Sophia and Larissa decided to start their own fashion brand, Clarissa is about to join another start-up team.
