Poor Archie, he can never relax and have a good time - sort of like my dad. Mom's side of the family were a silly bunch, always laughing and making jokes. Dad thought they were crazy! "Aw jeez, holy Toledo, for cryin' out loud!"
What a great deal that house was for Mike and Gloria when they moved in. 3 bedrooms? Bigger than Archie and Edith's house? What luxury it would be to have a house with 3 bedrooms for a young married couple like them. They gave Joey his own room but what did they do with the other? So many possibilities! Frank's cake looked great but he sure got on my nerves with poking Archie and singing a happy birthday song to a joke for heaven's sake. He's too over the top for me sometimes.
sure he can. We had a young guy in our neighborhood that just walked in whenever he felt like it. My parents were married a long time before they started a family, so this kid up the street was sort of like an unofficial adopted son. By the time us kids came along, he was a young man.
There were a lot of people that believed this show was racist. But it was the opposite. It was from the perspective of an ignorant racist. The spin off The Jeffersons showed the same racists ignorance, but from the perspective of a black man.
I remember seeing this as a child and I just could not understand why Archie was so upset that the Jefferson's house had one more bedroom than his. There was so much about petty human nature that I hadn't learned yet.
Norman Lear and his writers were just awesome. I'm 65 I remember all these episodes.
I had the privilege of growing up with this show. Every Saturday night at 7PM CST.
I lived in Michigan so it was EST so 8:00 for me.
Those were the days 😂

I 💘 the original Lionel he was funny
May he RIP.⚰️⚱️👍
I love how Edith was in contrast to Archie and she treated The Jeffersons with kindness and respect
I love how Lionel always dealt with Archie with humor and sarcasm. That’s how you deal with bigotry make fun of it.
Lionel was also a cutie
Lionel knew how to play Archie.
You shouldn't have too to begin with.
Archie's and Lionel's interactions were comedy gold. 🤣
Yes!! I loved how he was always sarcastic with him.
Lionel has a physical attractiveness I didn't notice back then. 😊
I completely remember seeing Sally Struthers on the show and suddenly noticing that she was attractive in a way i never felt before. Very confusing!

Mike Evans was ALLWAYS the funniest on the show 😂
Black people are always singing and Italians are always singing, that is the way it should be.

What Was Lionel Singing?.😃
Archie put up with alot, Lionel can't just walk in

Didn't Edith open the door for him? I'm just asking.
Lol...Lionel walks in as Archie is yelling racist crap as usual. SMH
That was Archie’s anthropology lesson lol
Funniest show ever.
Frank Lorenzo's character was too gay and jolly.

Not to mention Norman Lear who played Archie was the total opposite of his character in real life

Challenging to make fun of it in economic matters….
