So glad you guys are enjoying the reaction - this track was super heavy. Now it’s sat with me for 24 hours, I can safely say it’s stirred up a lot of emotions for me (I lost my father last year) and learning they based the track around the TEAR grief psychology model, it just resonates with me deeply - so thank you so much guys 🖤

Sorry for loss, I lost my grandmother in May, my father in June and my dog Ireland in August last year, so now how you feel.
You were spot on with your reaction, actually you are the only reactor who really understood the emotion they were expressing, love love loved your reaction to this song, as well as all the others.
So J Hope didn’t rap when he joined BTS, he would from practicing with Rm and Suga in the dorms and found his own style so that is why you can tell the difference in their styles, you are extremely intuitive, you get these guys so well. Oh and btw love listening to talk, l am a sucker when it comes to British, Irish and Scottish accents, so could listen to you just read the phone book 😂, but also as I said, very intelligent and intuitive, and yes BTS does find you when you need them the most, it is so true, happened with my sister when she was in the hospital after her heart attack, she then wouldn’t stop talking about them so since she didn’t really have anyone to talk to about them in the beginning I would let her go on and on, till then I got hooked with their dancing skills, the fandom who treated you as if you were a life long friend, and then when the pandemic hit, I was really glad I had already been following fhem for a few years since 2018 and I was regretting I didn’t know about them in 2013, but thank god their earlier lives live on youtube and weverse so I was able to see what I missed, I feel like I have been following since 2013.
Glad you are finding them now, enjoy 💜💜💜💜

I couldn’t pick a “favorite BTS rapper” to save my life, because I connect to all of them in different ways, but I’ve noticed Suga’s verses tend to hit me the hardest. Pretty consistently since I became ARMY a few of his lines in a song have stood out & gotten me to look into the dark corners I tend to stuff painful topics in and avoid for years. It feels like he grabs a huge spotlight and points it directly at them so I can no longer ignore them. This acronym is a perfect example. I don’t deal well with goodbyes/loss and it’s something I really need to work on addressing.

I have always been into indie, rock and rap so I got into BTS through the rap line. Cypher 4 popped up and I had never seen anything like it. Amazing lyrics and the whole crowd chanting 'I love myself' in a rap track? I had to know more and that was it. I am now forever spoiled and no other artist has come close for many reasons. The lyricism, the musicality, amazing production, top tier performances, everything done at the highest level. And with a work ethic and the appreciation of fans I have never seen before.

I think this is one of the most emotional songs by BTS, and it was written when they were considering disbanding in early 2018. They were skyrocketing in popularity in the West, and the pressure to keep performing at the highest level were draining them. For some months they only had one day off per month. They were overworked and exhausted. But their love for music and performing, for each other, and for their fans pushed them through.
RM is a poet and he's known for his beautiful lyrics. His song "Wild Flower" is produced by DOCSKIM, who also produced this track.
J-hope is a consummate performer. His 70-minute set at Lollapalooza is electrifying. "More" and "Arson", if you want to see more from him.
Suga/Agust D has several songs telling his personal story, like "The Last", "Dear My Friend", "First Love". The songs themselves are already emotional, and the live performances take them to another level.
I love BTS songs that tell about their personal stories. "Born Singer" is about their debut experience and "Hip-hop Lover" is about their relationship with hip-hop.
They are sincere in every song, in their lyrics and their performances, and sometimes it means being vulnerable and emotional.

Suga was the first to write his verses when they were thinking about disbanding (2018), after he showed it to his brothers (BTS) they all cried together and, thank God, they decided to keep being together.
I love the way they transform their experiences in art and give them to us to heal (them and us).

  • @cjayj442
    @cjayj442 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +32

When they performed it, ARMY didn't know that it was about the disbandment talk from 2017-2018 so I think the emotion in the performance was a little surprising to ARMY. I believe it was about a year after the concert when Suga spilled the beans that it was from their disbandment talks. He wrote it for the members and then RM and JHope added their verses. RM is TEAR from crying, Suga is TEAR into pieces and JHope is FEAR.
And Korn is one of my top 10 favorite bands, along with In This Moment & Nonpoint, but BTS is always at the top. 🙂

Wonderful reaction and breakdown on this one. I often think the fandom asks for this song too early, and people don't always get the depth of the pain. But you got it right away. I have seen this video so many times, and the guttural sound that J-hope makes at the end breaks me every time. It is the way he uses sound with his whole body. Onomatopoeia-ic.
I am so happy that you found poetry in music. Art allows us to feel things so much deeper.
One of the reasons I love BTS so much is that they are poets. Shakespeare is my thing, and in my mind, they are modern-day Shakespeares. Highest praise I could ever give.

You are right about jhope. While suga and rm have completely different technical and poetic styles, jhope has an emotive style of rap.
You can see it in their mbti types too, rm is entp or enfp, suga is intj (both intellectual thinker types) and jhope is esfj an extremely emotional and physical personality type.
The 3 of them compliment each others brains which is why make such good thoughtful music together.
One of my favorite BTS tracks is called RAIN from dark and wild and all 3 rappers take turns painting a lyrical picture and interpreting the meaning of rainfall in seoul city.
RM interprets rain as creative burnout, suga as transience of life and jhope as depression.
And that shows you how 3 rappers can use a single metaphor in 3 different ways in one song.

I can’t imagine performing this every night given the background of the song. Yes, I definitely see it in Hobi in this performance.
I give all of the guys a whole lot of credit for being as open as they have been with their emotions. They’ve never shied away from showing the darker parts of their lives. We’ve seen every single one of the seven cry, sometimes together, sometimes separately, and all of them comfort each other. As much as it hurts to see them hurt, it’s beautiful to see men so comfortable with expressing their emotions.
Jimin flat out said, “I realised it’s not good to hold back tears. You should cry whenever you want. There’s nothing worse than suppressing tears.” Coming from the guy who had to put on a hyper masculine front in their early days (and who has since grown into his real self), I think it was really wonderful he said that.

Suga raps with his whole heart
Jhope raps with his whole body
And docskim produced and arranged (I think) for this performance…
    Some folks love the ciphers
But so much of them is very pointed towards incidents and personalities particular to Korean artists
    Some prefer Ddaeng and ugh
But again without the insight into
Korean language and culture a lot is missed
    (Although the “explained by a

But outro tear … the only reference that usually not
Caught, is Suga’s T.E.A.R. Which refers to the
    TEAR Model of Grief
A frequently used model in professional grief counseling settings is the TEAR model.
T = To accept the reality.
    E = Experience the pain.
A = Adjust to the new environment.
R = Reinvest in the new reality.
Otherwise the sadness anger and fear surrounding their almost disbandment in 2018 is unmistakeable
    In every word

Bts wrote this song about themselves… in late 2017 into early 2018 they were all really struggling emotionally mentally and physically etc…they considered disbanding at this time. They had been together since 2011 and debuted in 2013. Their schedules increasingly became insane! Lots of pressure all around … if you go back and listen to the lyrics, they really fit what was going on at the time. “We dreamed the same dream “ … I think that’s why they rap so passionately! It is such a beautiful and sad passionate song. I also love the real sincere feelings that they convey through their lyrics. They are relatable to anyone! I love this song! The string the arrangements the lyrics, the delivery the beats. This is what drew me to the rap line.
The reason for talks of disbandment? The guys had been working hard for 5over 4 years. Finally starting to see some success but that pace took its toll. Especially on the maknae line. V/Taehyung said that he seemed to have the hardest time because he is slower and laidback person. this pace was a complete overhaul/juxtaposition to him as a person.
Jin said that during that time, they only had 1.5 days off every month. This wasn’t their debut, this was occurring 4 yrs after their debut. Was this worth it to them as individuals? And if one is out, then they are all out. It wasnt about obtaining their dream, they were there. It was about the cost of it. And that’s something they had to answer individually, but in reality, the strength as a team, and that loss would be worse. They trusted in each other to help each other be strong.
It’s heartbreaking to hear this song.

I have to admit that Jhope used to be my least favorite member. However as I learned about the individual members, my esteem for him has grown and grown. Despite the fact that he is touted as a scaredy cat I think he is the bravest when it comes to the things that really count. I became a Jhope fan when he was the first member to release his solo album after BTS announced their temporary hiatus. It took guts to be the first one out of gate when Army's emotions were so high due to the fear of a possible breakup. Then he doubled down and headlined Lallpalooza. He said he wanted to play in front of an audience that was not all Army. He wanted to see if non Armys would like him and his music. That takes guts and I'm so proud of him. I'm so happy that he smashed the performance and I love every single song on his debut album and newest album. I wish him continued success and am here for it.

People are always undermining Jhope’s penmanship. He has written very complex lyrics, they are too abstract for the normal people to grasp it. About the emotional connection, he stands apart because he is a PERFORMER through and through! His insanely strong stage presence pulls your attention to him and he pulls you into his words and his emotions. Jhope is also not less than other in techniques, they were all in underground scene, while he didn’t rap, but he was a street dancer. He was into hiphop way before the other two so rapping came to him naturally as a street dancer. If we speak about techniques we need to touch on the flow. And he is famous for his insane flows. He doesn’t have a fixed one and can switch to three or four flows within a chorus or line. He can do speed rap too, fastest doesn’t make one the best. Rap is rhythm and poetry and he is exceptional in both. Putting this out here because he is always placed third behind namgi when he can possibly outdo them, actually might have already done that. He can also sing and I don’t have to say he can dance. Jhope is literally an ACE! Again not saying to put down Namgi, they are as accomplished too. Just that a few section of people always discredit Jhope penmanship or rapping skills. He is not less to the other two in any way. They all got trained in BH for rapping under well known khh rappers. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Love your reactions!!! Even if you didn't like it I just know you would have something intelligent to say about the music or even why...thankfully you did though 😄 Other's have already given context to this being about them considering disbanding. For context of where it sits in their discography. They have a 3-album series called Love Yourself (Her, Tear & Answer). This track is from the 2nd - exploring the dark side of being in relation to people (it can be superficially taken as partnered relationships but I believe for BTS it's not meant to be limited to that or was even written with that in mind, clearly) - the title track is Fake Love (for them it was inspired by feeling like they didn't want to let Army down and let us know how tired and burnout they were), there's also Seesaw (not wanting to be the "bad guy" for being the one to end it - from what Yoongi said in Beyond the Story that's how they were all feeing, not wanting to be "the one" to call it quits). RM and others have said this album almost didn't get made, that's how close they were to disbanding. Thankfully that didn't happen and we're here now sharing it as part of their history and the art they made from their pain.

I agree with you about J Hope but the other 2 rappers do have songs where you can really feel their emotions. Suga especially. In particular Snooze, The Last, and Amygdala. The last has no music video, but you can find a lyric video. I almost prefer the lyrics video for a first listen before a live performance because reading the lyrics is so important for that one. Snooze has a fan made music video that is awesome, unlike most fan made music videos, and Amygdala is the third in Suga’s trilogy that includes Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala.

I’m back after watching your reaction and comments. Very intelligent and insightful. That’s another reason I like hearing what you have to say. I will say, as you also said, not to say anything about J-Hope and Rm since I do love their styles, that I am more a Suga bias. J-Hope is amazing with his expression. I suppose it’s because I relate in many ways to Suga/Agust-D. For me, I feel he writes so much about his personal experiences as well that he exposes a lot of himself. J-Hope is bubbly, makes lots laugh, cry, respect! Through😢their career together, RM and esp Suga hold back showing their emotions or did from the public since RM is the leader and Suga was known to be quiet but loving. Until the last Day of his D-Day concert, no one ever saw Suga cry and sing/rap with so much emotion. J-Hope was also in the crowd with Jin and J-Hope did help Suga with …was it some choreography ARMY? Suga shouted to J-Hope giving him props.
That’s my reason for liking 1. I love each of them for different reasons and I can see why you are drawn to J-Hope and respect and am happy that you find his performances captivating. As an amateur psychologist as well, I understand those 7 stages of grief and how Suga incorporated them too. Many have felt these stages. I still have yet to come to the ‘acceptance’ for some. BTS encourages us to let out our feelings regardless of who we are. I’m female, but have also grown up taught not to show your feelings. I am now fierce so many years of being ARMY though I am older so looked at their songs as things I did think after I found them shortly after their debut. Some people are not used to me expressing certain things and in many situations, I still have to hold everything together. I love how you mentioned poetry and rapping. That’s what I also feel! I used to write a lot of poetry or lyrics and also play a couple of instruments but couldn’t get them to go together. You are extremely talented that you can do shows of your own and I thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I do love BTS as ARMY, but I obv listen to other artists though oddly, none of them have made me want to become a better person. Cheers to you!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🇨🇦🇯🇵👏👏👏🎶 Normally, I’d suggest Amydala by Agust-D but you have to see his other 2 first since it’s a trilogy. I see others have recommended fantastic songs by J-Hope so looking forward to next reaction. I

JHOPE in this... ❤‍🔥After Suga wrote his verse when they were all talking about disbanding, they wrote their verses based on how it made them feel... for RM it was a sadness (TEAR) and for Suga it was like being torn apart (TEAR) and for Hope it was a fear. These guys expressed it all so well. Thanks for checking it out. If you haven't done Baepsae (aka Silver Spoon aka Crowtit aka Try Hard) yet, I highly recommend it. It is one of their more serious songs with intentionally silly choreo. These guys have lots of depth. Plus rapline songs Ddaeng and Ugh. Links below, including the versions of BTS having fun with their own songs, as usual, and the DKDKtv explanations because they are worth it! You could do the one for Ddaeng too and no one will get mad! LOL. But I did include the link to the video with included brief explanations. Have fun on your journey in all music! Hope you keep including BTS content. They are quite versatile and full of substance... so worthwhile.

I’m really happy I found your channel! Your reactions are so genuine and honest and sweet, and it gives me a lot of joy to join along you as you go down the BTS rabbit hole! 💜 There are many BTS songs with melodies and lyrics that have the power to gut me. I don’t know how to explain it… Even in some of their lighter tracks there is sometimes some melancholy in it. I want to say BTS seasons some of their songs with “han”- this Korean concept that has to do with sorrow and grief (based on their colonial history). The han I sense in their music emotionally resonates with me on such a deep level. It reminds me so much of loneliness, of quiet despair, all the tiny little cuts, the numerous disappointments, heartaches, and failures that sometimes become beautiful and helpful tools (once someone has healed). Their music breaks my heart and heals me at the same time. I hope you keep sharing your reactions! When you have a chance, I think you would love “Ddaeng.” Check out the song, but (very important) also check out the behind the scenes part. Ddaeng also deserves a watch of the explanation video as it illuminates all the magical nuances within it-stuff we wouldn’t know about since we are Westerners.

Another musical style/genre TK add to the BTS list. For more emotions, the vocal line can suck you in either Truth Untold (ballad) or House of Cards (r&Bjazz). Also, magic shop, that one is for Army and is beautiful.

Yes, your feelings were very spot on and intuitive here. I really liked it. 💫 🐈
I do see the comparison to Korn as Rm really spits his feelings out like a perfect storm - Suga incinerates his heart - & J-hope almost feels as if he is about to throw up his torn emotions and his shredded heart right there on stage 'for everyone to see...' It's a very brave performance from all 3 & especially from J-hope who is all feelings here.. ✨
Ps: I think my favorite song from Korn is "Blind." And Mostly for how his emotions run so deeply through the lyrics; As if he is fighting himself, pushing each word out like they are crushed pieces of glass and barbed wire, dragged through his throat, just... One painful syllable at the time. -> It does something to me. 🔥💔
    (Anyways. 😇) Rec:
    1) "Spring day" from BTS is 💜 but there is One theory that I think you should read a few lines about first..
    2) "The last" by AgustD made me actually Cry, first for one emotion, and then for another..

Loved your "amateur psychology" lesson although I don't think there was anything amateur in it. You got the emotions right. That's exactly how I feel about the song.
Also, what drew me to BTS is their courage to be vulnerable and real in front of us. Not only have they shown their strengths, "weaknesses" shared their worries with us, they have even made a point to show the inevitable "ugliness" of life, and all that while humanising all those emotions and humanising themselves. There is literally a video of Taehyung and Jin having a no-so-pretty argument with each other and the members sitting down together to resolve the conflict. You will have to watch the video for yourslef to know what I mean. I was taken aback by the kind of emotional intelligence these young men displayed in that clip. While "idols" are supposed to be "perfect", BTS strays away to show that they are equally human as us and go through similar experineces as us. It has been such a beautiful learning experience knowing about these 7 amazing men! I hope you get to see that clip by yourself and I hope you understand what I'm trying to say!💜

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Appreciate u pausing and speaking more here. I really want to hear what u have to say. This song talks about them breaking up. It is a heartbreak song. When Suga was rapping did u see he was acting like he kept getting punched. The acting, dang. Dior BTS is everything. Suga is so swaggy. RM so cute and Hobi 0.0. Jimin bias, Suga wrecker and OT7. But after this song Army were dead!!! I am glad u re-watched this and read the lyrics. Such a powerful song. It is intense. It is passionate. It is truth spoken out loud and thank god never fulfilled. So much feels. Love it. The stage mix is fine too hope u check it out as well as their other stages of this song. Suga is the main producer in BTS. RM is the 2nd producer but he been writing more then producing in the last few yrs. Burn It is also a call back to one of Suga's songs in his mixtape. Hugs. -2019 Army NY USA💜
Suga said: "the lyrics for Tear were written for the members. When I was writing the melody, at the time, we were deeply contemplating whether we should quit or not. When I played the song for the members we all cried together".
Also RM is saying "Tear" as in crying and Suga as in ripping something apart.
Imajin All The Purple said on 2/25/23
They actually hid a third meaning of tear in the song: Suga says T.E.A.R. which is a coping mechanism for loss:
T - To accept the reality of the loss
E - Experience the pain of the loss
A - Adjust to the new environment without the lost person
R - Reinvest in the new reality
They are lyrical kings indeed! 💜

I REALLY recommend you guys to watch their speech at the 2018 MAMA Award Show when they won Artist Of The Year. They talked about their disbanding in their speech (Jin made it clear). It's very emotional and I think it's good for you guys understand Outro: Tear better. 💜💜💜

Hi! Just on the topic of "feeling it" while performing, i think J-Hope comes off as very expressive because he's a dancer first, he feels everything in his body and it shows. I'd suggest The Last, with Suga you hear it, the pain the everything. Not sure if this track is your style of rap but the emotion is incredible 💜
