Gore Vidal is very bright an a real American treasure. Just started following him in the last couple of years. Very truthful. Great insight. You are right sad about how worse it really is. Maybe Bernie is the only Senator who tells the truth about the corporations and super rich. I also read tons of books, and following history of our country. In my opinion, this country was not made for middle class or poor. Always for well to do.

2:49/12:27 As a music teacher Im surprised he may be alluding to perfect pitch being
associated to "gifted"musical ability or so called "talent" .Because composition and performance of music at all developmental levels and stages can sometimes be conflated disproportionately with having an "inborn gift"as against a trained and nurtured one.
The majority of the world`s music making takes place through an initial auditory and rhythmic response at birth to a cultural environment of stimulus alongside language development and usually before literacy.
Whereas musical to all levels skills via "Relative Pitch" go largely unregarded more often than not.
In fact there are instances where "perfect pitch" can be seen as a disadvantage in some instrumental teaching and learning where notation
    and transposition is involved.

Vidal was always a bit of a liar. He claims his family had no money, yet he attended one of the most expensive private schools in the country. His mother loaned him the money to buy an estate in NY so he could set up a run for Congress.
Vidal always thought of himself as a major player in politics with connections to power.
JFK simply referred to him as, "Just one of Jackie's queer little friends."

He was wrong about Reagan. Reagan was a populist and stood in reaction to what Carter and the leaders did in the 70s. There is an element to what Vidal is saying is true. The Reagan lineage did not last. What we got was decades of ruling class like Vidal states. He oversimplifies the American system. Like Reagan, Trump is a populist, but like Reagan, even if he gets a second term, there will be a tendency to go back to the establishment types.
