    CORRECTIONS:
    47:19 - Sigrid has a strength of 6 because the pink run on that card adds to their strength amount.

    What a surprise to see you have this uploaded before the Kickstarter commences! Anything Tiny Epic Games is an instant back for me, but I enjoy watching content involving their games. Thanks for the in-depth run-through.

      Yeah, it's unusual for me to launch early but I have another video going live for tomorrow for a different kickstarter so we decided to release this video a day early so that they won't overlap each other too much. Glad you enjoyed this :)

    Amazing and very insightful teach and playthrough, as always. :)
    I pulled the trigger on it and am backing, such a meaty experience on a small box. Pretty impressive! It’ll be my first Tiny Epic game, actually.
    Thank you for the video, Jon. :)

    Your first Tiny Epic Pirates tutorial is how I fell for the Tiny Epic series. As someone who regularly leads friends in the learning of games, watching your tutorials has made me far more effective. You flow between mechanical details, overview, and underlying tactics in a way that I find incredibly intuitive. Your curation of play to cover most, if not all, mechanics concisely is really where these excel. Also, it's where I assume you spend a significant amount of time. Thank you so much for these!
    I do keep trying to send everyone here before getting a game to table, but my wife calls it "assigning homework."

      You gotta learn to teach the games yourself.
      The best way to teach games with regulars is to omit rules and slowly add them in round by round.

    Oh wow, what an interesting game.A lot going on for such a tiny game. Those cards potentially getting stronger as the turn goes on is my favorite part. These Tiny Epic Games have been hitting the spot for me with their most recent releases.

    I'm not sure if Jon will see it (or remember it?) but at 13:31 - if I'm not mistaken red would not remove his warrior right? Because yellow needs more warriors than ANY other player to "deal damage" yes?

    super cool thks for the clear game play but your camera auto focus so whenever u move your hand and token the board got blurred and makes it hard to see

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that's been a bigger issue with my new camera that I bought 6 months ago. There's no way I could feasible film these using manual focus (it would take far too long and I'd likely mess it up and everything would sometimes be a bit blurry) so I hope to get better at dealing with the auto focus with my hands. It seems to be worst when super zoomed in, perhaps I shouldn't zoom in so far.

    • @WorldAquariumSingapore
      @WorldAquariumSingapore 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JonGetsGames yes understand, and to provide you some more feedback hope it helps, when i look at the video when your hand move the tokens or cards i can get slight headache due to the blurred out part, so if it can be like your older videos where there are no auto focusing will be best, btw your way of presenting the games are superb cheers

    Hey! I was looking for your tutorial/playthrough of Tiny Epic Dungeons... Where did it go??? I want it back 😟

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A couple very impactful rules were changed between my filming the tutorial video and the final version. I tried to put corrections for this in to compensate, but they were too pervasive a change and after discussing it with the publisher we decided to take the video down in order to not confuse people about how to play the final version correctly.

    Hey Jon, great videos! Quick question: any tips on running games like this solo for game testing purposes? If I wanted to test my game quickly without bothering my friends, and the game has a hand of cards that represent possible actions, how can I play as each player "fairly"?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly the only tip I have is practice. Also, I'm not really playtesting here, instead I'm focusing on teaching the game well. I think solo playtesting player vs player makes sense for getting the bones of a game's mechanics worked out, but for things like balance testing I'm not sure if other people can be replaced for getting good data.

    • @Wylie288
      @Wylie288 ปีที่แล้ว

      Late here but you just act in your best interest per player. Keep track of what information you *should* know as that player. And disregard any decisions made based on information you shouldn't know. Just pick the best player that action could take using the information/context they should be aware of.
      This works fine to test out if mechanics work. But, people have different playstyles tendencies, and fall run into different pitfalls. Its not a replacement for testing with others. But for figuring out if your game works and is even ready to show others, simulating multiple people works totally fine.

    Why are the sea areas called fjords? Fjords are narrow, deep inlets. I'm not seeing that here.

    I wonder if at 53:30 the ship that was just built could move 2 units to kick green out of the port, and then deploy 2 settlers onto that island, giving yellow 4 influence to green’s 2 (with their remaining settlers on the island). That would give yellow the majority, and control of the rune stone for that island.

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, that would have been a good move for sure!

    • @Wylie288
      @Wylie288 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be. But remember, taking over islands raises the value of that rune. If you don't have many pink favor cards not contesting pink is a good idea. The real points come from favor cards. The board itself is nothing more than the main means to influence the value of each score. A variant id like to try is reducing the value of favor runes. But that completely changes the strategy that I think is unique to this game.

    Am I the only one who can see it as Tiny Epic Blood Rage?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've somehow still never played Blood Rage, but I have heard that drafting is a key part of it so there does appear to be at least some surface level mechanical similarity.

    • @pete4922
      @pete4922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blood Rage was my first thought with the drafting and with how losing battles gives you a benefit. On the other hand my feel about Blood Rage (only played it once) is that the cards are where the focus of your strategy is, where this seems to focus more on the tactical aspects of fighting over the runes. I shy away from games where players need to be familiar with all the cards to be able to compete, which is how Blood Rage felt to me (again, not an expert). So this seems pretty interesting to me. My fear though is it seems with so much to think about each turn, turns might go pretty slow. But this looks super solid to be. I wasn’t going to back it, but now I am pretty tempted.
