Yes 1964... a wonderful time to be alive! 1964: Three civil rights workers murdered in Mississippi during "Freedom Summer;" Race riots in Harlem and many other U.S. cities; U.S. military forces launched attacks on North Vietnam in response to an "alleged" attack on a U.S. destroyer off the Vietnamese coast (turned out to be an LBJ lie); Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa was convicted of fraud, conspiracy and jury tampering; 1964 was indeed a pivotal year in American history... the beginning of the end of the end of the "American Dream."
Nessa época não havia tanta tecnologia como se tem hoje, mas podíamos ver as almas das pessoas expressadas nas vozes e canções , muito lindo toca na alma ✨🇧🇷
At the top of their game, a flawless rendition of Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind. Which should bring a tear to every conscious soul on the planet on this April day in 2022.
No gimmicks. Just genius. If I see one more half naked singer, or pink &/or green hair, or one more tattoo creeping up a musicians neck, I am gonna barf. It ceased being edgy years ago, and is usually indicative of minimal talent.
It’s 2024 and I just can’t stop thinking about this song and now I go to a senior center and take a chair exercise class that plays the song and the first couple times I heard it. I cried and cried. Now I just enjoy it every time I hear it and we get to exerciseand make motions with this song and I love it even more now, but I’ve always loved it my entire life and now I’m old and grow up with this song and these wonderful people who sang it and I miss them dearly
I’m Spaniard and I heard those songs when I was sixteen, just beginning my university degree and ten years later than were recorded. The beauty, the songs and their voices are still deep in my heart
Why now a days, singers, makes an almost nude outfit to attract the sometimes no sense music, these group dress in a decent styles and the songs is somewhat make sense, somewhat factual!!!
My mother seen then at western illinois u. 2.50 to see. If your broke come see for free. She said .1963 at this time . Times were different. But dam to come together in peace is gold.
Just in the last few years it seems that such vintage recordings of extraordinary performances has arisen out of the depths and posted for us to remember and the kiddies to learn. PP&M were truly magical. Can't believe it has been 60 years. When I was young.
Awesome group ! Awesome songs ! The sonngs here are my favorite Peter Paul and Mary songs ! Are they all gone now or is it just Mary who died ? Does anyone know ? Thank you for telling me if you can someone !
Sadly Mary died in 2009. I believe she was 72 years old. She had a form of cancer but I think she ultimately passed from complications of a bone marrow transplant.
I spelled songs wrong as I was trying to type too fast but I know its spelled songs but I should of looked at what I typed before I sent it out ! Sorry !
While living in Bethel, CT, in the 1990s, I was at the local Jeep dealership, in Danbury, getting my CJ-5 serviced. Who came and sat next to me in the waiting area but Mary Travers. I was lucky to be able to thank her then and there for the beautiful music she gave us.
I had the pleasure of meeting Peter a couple of times. I even played roadie for him and had his equipment in my Jeep for a couple of days before dropping it off. This was in 2014 or so. My sister is good friends with his daughter Bethany. A very nice man, he did 2 pro bono gigs for my Mother and her foundation. Thanks Peter.
I met Mary on the street many times in NY In the 70’s but saw PPM. From their beginning. Mary was a smart cool talented But not in your face. Miss her and the boys
@@johnmcintyre1965 She was sick and suffering from leukemia. Near the end, her face was very swollen; probably from chemo & steroids used to treat the illness. She put on weight as she aged but looked good until she was so sick.
Albert Grossman knew how to market an act. Mary in a Chanel suit and Peter and Paul styling the Brooks Brothers. With that said, they had great song material and the talent to back it up.

I wonder if anyone could please tell me, who was playing the Double Bass? I know it’s definitely not Dick Kniss. He probably moved on to join John Denver at that stage. Thank you if you can help find out about this Bass player….!
This is one of their best songs ever 2023 there will be no more songs like this ...really truly miss the old America🇺🇸🇺🇸

yes, I was 14 and I still sob with the songs..and today, VietNam seems small given our entire democracy at stake.@@andreasmodugno

Yeah, me too thank you for the post.☮️😎
Love them. They were the reason that I became a guitar player. Probably more than a few others were inspired too!
Same here 60 years ago and still playing the guitar
PPM singing Bob Dylan songs was my inspiration
Thank you for sharing...
Really they were one of my time thank you peter Paul n mary

Falou muito bem, concordo!
I can’t believe this was 60 years ago 😂
Me neither - I was 5!
Let us realize the truth of what Dylan is saying in "Blowin' in the Wind", we HAVE the answer! It's here, NOW! We only need choose it.

Did they EVER write a song themselves? Just askin'
Yes, both Paul Stookey and Peter Yarrow were great songwriters.
Puff The Magic Dragon, a beautiful song, beautifully done.
Despite having a hidden ugly drug message behind it. Still a lovely song.
It does not. See interview with Peter Yarrow who wrote it.
@@guyconnolly6926 It most certainly does. Unless you consider drug abuse, in this case marijuana, to not be ugly.
It's about the loss of childhood innocence, but you're welcome overlay any twisted spin you care to.
There is no hidden ugly drug message to Puff. Is that you, Spiro?
@@aspensulphate, it aligns with the classic kid's cartoon of the era, "Beanie and Cecil." The song has absolutely nothing to do with the drug culture.
Great 9:14

Puff the Magic Dragon always makes me cry. 😢
True words.
There will never be another Peter Paul and Mary..Can't imagine all the time they put into every song.. The harmony is superb.
How right you are.have been a fan since their first l.p hit the market.have never any gr.oup that has come close to p.p m

I did hear them in person in 1963. Tremendous talent and music.
I saw these wonderful talented folks in 1864 as a 13 y o at Carnegie Hall and throughout the years. They were like fine wine.
I heard them in person. Cincinnati Ohio. October 1963.
I got to hear them in a small theater in the round in 1980. Fantastic concert

What a great selection of songs by this superb group. I just wish that their music could be heard more widely. Thanks for posting
Bob Dylan wrote some amazing folk music, and PP and M did this song great.
Very few would understand how PPM made the imprint.

What Great Harmony. Like vocal trapeze artist. I saw them from their beginning
I was so happy to see them in one of their last concerts.
I love folk singers that sing against the harmony . . . Mary Travers, Judy Durham, Cass Elliott . . .
Little children love this song. Puff the Magic Dragon 🐉😂🎉
Love their ❤music 🎶 🎵
They were my inspiration in grade school to form a group and sing their songs 60 years ago.
Charming, soothing with deep human feeling throughout.

Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey are alive and well and sometimes still perform together.
Sadly Mary died in 2009. I believe she was 72 years old. She had a form of cancer but I think she ultimately passed from complications of a bone marrow transplant.
I attended Mary’s Memorial in Nov 2009. 3000 folks at Riverside Church. I miss her

Along with the Byrds, they introduced me to Dylan. The gateway.

Not really a very nice man. if you check on him he was sent to prison for raping a child.
Puff intro was just a little hint of what the song was really about. Sounds like the audience weren't hip to his act❤😂
