V20 - And I want...
- Keyframe editor that's better/easier. Please for the love.
- Better drawing tools... like if you could just build illustrator-like functionality in that would be great. :)
- Alignment tools
- Better macro editor/ a way to make presets that doesn't require being a coding genius.
Alignment tool would be so nice.
Rotoscoping in the edit page
Alignment tool!!!!! PLEASE DVR!!!!
Definitely agree with the macro editor stuff, that is in a terrible state right now. But I wanted to ask what you would like to see changed in the keyframe editor? I find it to be the best that I worked with so far, but would love to hear your opinion
and text boxes
My request would be that they do a search of the forums for anything along the lines of "SERIOUSLY WHY DOESN'T THIS SOFTWARE HAVE THIS SIMPLE FEATURE" and just focus on those. New fancy features are great (and bring sales) but QoL stuff makes everyone happy.
Totally agree. There are hundreds of feature requests there, many of which have been requested many times over the years. Like, let us undock the monitors in edit. We can do it in Fairlight so it must be theoretically possible.
YES. This software actually gets a lot of QOL features right, it's just that it's so damn inconsistent that even the most basic features are missing most of the time
A Bug/Feature Tracker has been requested many times on the forum, and this would be incredible. There are so many features that would make keeping bugs and feature requests organized. Like a "Merge" feature to combine duplicate bugs/requests into one. A voting system to allow users to vote on features/bugs that should be a top priority. It would also be an easy way for Blackmagic to put status updates on the progress of these bugs/features... like 'Bug confirmed', 'In the works', and even 'Sorry, not gonna happen!' lol The forum is such a terrible way to keep track of bugs and feature requests, not only for us users but for Blackmagic too.
@@Tekkerue Agreed. Unfortunately BM has no intention of ever listening to us or telling us what they're doing.
@@HikingWithCooper Well, they did listen to one of my feature requests for audio (VST sidechaining) as they added it in v19 (and they did it exactly how I was hoping they would). It took over 2 years, but they got to it eventually. lol😁 And yeah, I wish they'd say more about what they are doing. I totally understand they'd want to keep new "ground breaking" features top secret, but there are sooooo many mundane things they could be open about and have more discussions with their users. Many of my feature requests are things that some other products have had for well over a decade, so there is no reason they can't engage in discussions on things like that.
A simple one for me - a FAVOURITES option for FONTS.
- Flexible, movable UI
- better, more flexible multi-monitor support
- Proper keyframe & spline editor on every page (working with keyframes is super buggy, copy-paste doesn't always work, many things cannot be keyframed etc.)
- Fairlight page timeline should work the same as the edit timeline
- Resize VST windows
- Fairlight audio routing with external sound cards
- Fairlight audio track groups
- Fairlight multitrack audio export fix (VSTs don't apply properly)
- Fusion drawing tools improvements
- update imported files live (like AE does with Illustrator & Photoshop for example)
- Fusion (better) vector graphics integration
- Fusion page playback improvements
- Font previews and favourites
- ability to format text differently within the same text element
- speed editor should execute the same functions on the edit page
- speed editor could add functionality to select which tracks it operates on (with its numpad for example)
- overwrite insert on the speed editor
I don’t remember who said it but partnering with someone like affinity or another non-subscription based vector company to integrate vectors better would be awesome. Either that or just improved motion graphics would be my biggest hope.
yes that and partnering in general would be really nice. personally I would love to see a collab with blender
@@IndepthResolve Oooh that would be awesomeeee
I'd like to SEE what the FONTS actually look like in the drop down list instead of having to hover over them all the time.. & also to be able to 'click' your favourites
will probably be 19.5.
My list would be:
- Spline Editor for the edit and color page (man i swear i need it)
- a better way to zoom in the color page's node panel
- alignment tools
- more stuff related to expression (cause there are only a few things you can do with expressions, unlike AE)
- ruler (come on, its time)
OR
- better motion graphics tools
I would give anything for a better motion graphics experience, like, actually
Isn’t it about time that we were able to save compound clips and fusion clips in our power/smart bins? Sheesh!
You can save fusion comps
you already can do this
Better keyframe + spline editor For Edit Page, I mean make a better window for them!
I would like a really simple and easy option for guide lines, like in Premiere Pro
100% agree with you
there are guide lines i think
@tdyrc yes you can drop them as an effect on a clip or adjustment clip. But it ist not really handy to use
Yes!!
I think it'll be 19.5 -- my big request is a serious investment in motion graphics. I love fusion, but would love a dedicated motion graphics workspace. Working with tons of keyframes, timing, and aligning elements gets very cumbersome and frustrating in fusion. I need more than just a halfbaked shape node and some templates to fully leave Adobe. I don't think it'll happen unfortunately. The focus seems to be on a deeper integration with their hardware (the real money maker) -- and it seems like most people aren't doing complex/professional workflows in fusion so they don't see the point. That, and a better focus on integrating third party extensions.
I think they should add a playhead skimming feature just like fcpx. It will shift most of fcp users to davinci 😂
If they ley the Fusion UI customize like v9, you'd be able to create any dedicated UI you'd want.
@@resolvewithharshfax
@@rano12321 Yeah. UI would definitely help, but the problem with mograph is pretty deep. Don't know if we'll ever get there honestly.
1. More optimization for 3D effects in fusion (Image Plane, 3D Camera, so on).
2. Make the Keyframe and Spline Editor more intuitive and easier to use.
3. Webp file support (seems like a small thing, but every other editor has support, and it would help a LOT for people who edit with PNGS)
4. Keyframe system in the edit page (Including graph editing and looping)
5. Modifiers in the edit page (Anim Curves, Character Level Styling, Shake, and so on).
6. Save presets from edit page clips to your effects library directly.
I would love to see them update outdated areas of fusion.
Like macro editor, audio, keyframe panel, hotkey manager, fusion settings, toolbar, shortcuts, caching.
Some of these things just feel like they arent fully integrated into resolve yet and still have some bugs or settings that dont work
In Resolve 19.5 I want to:
- save effect presets as in Premier pro - applied effect, set up, saved preset
- improved macro saving, it's not super complicated, but every interaction is a pain. At a minimum, I would like to avoid having all the parameters displayed at once, and I could drag and drop only the parameters that I need to save - this would be much better. Roughly like saving MOGRT for premiere. But I think davinci can do it better
- improved editing of keyframes on the edit tab, so that more plugin keyframes are displayed. it is desirable that it can be opened in a window slightly larger than it is now. Sometimes minimal changes are necessary and you don't want to jump into the fusion tab once again - extra clicks are a waste of time
- improved vector system. Yes, they significantly improved it in the 19th version, there was a vector text, but it is still not perfect. I would like a normal svg import, or even better a bitmap to vector converter, like in after effects
- sync multiple tracks at once on the timeline like pluraleyes, without the need to create a multicam clip. Sometimes when working with huge monotonous projects, I really miss this feature.
- automatic silence cutout like autocut. there are python scripts, autoeditor - but I think it would be nice to have this function built into davinci
- it would also be great if the sound library made it easier to add "new" sound libraries and added a folder hierarchy. I now use Soundly only because of the fact that there is a hierarchy of folders. If I want to find whoosh from a voice, and not, say, from some techno pack of sounds, I don't want to go through all the whooshs, even if I created a separate library for them. I want to see my finished structure in the sound library as well. A very cool preview feature, and the fact that you can not leave davinci, but if I have 100 tracks of music, where 20 tracks are for one type of project, 20 for another, etc. - I don't want to listen to all 100 tracks at a time until I find the right one
iPad iPad iPad.. more iPad features that work.. like a FULL version without hacks and workarounds.
My biggest complaint about Resolve is the destructive nature of editing clips on the timeline. The worst one is when moving a clip on top of other clips, the other clips are deleted. Also, if a clip with a transition is moved even one frame while in selection mode, it deletes the transition. I came to Resolve from Vegas Pro and Vegas did not do either of these things. My feature suggestions to address these two issues:
1) Layered Video Editing: use layers on individual tracks to allow you overlap multiple clips on the same track without deleting anything underneath. I have a feature request thread for this one on the official Resolve forum (from 2 years ago).
2) Auto-crossfade mode: When clips are overlapped, automatically add a crossfade. When a transition exists between two clips, moving one of the clips should adjust the length of the transition instead of deleting the transition.
Just these two things alone would improve my editing experience in Resolve significantly.
The moving clips and deleting other clips is so frustrating! Thanks for pointing that out
What other software doesn't overwrite on the track? Is it just final cut?
@@VibeMusicAiRecords Yes, it is! I have a feature request called "Layered Video Editing" on the official Resolve forum. If you're on the forum, give it a bump to let Blackmagic know you want it too. Hopefully they'll do it if enough people ask for it.
@@gabehobbs I used to use Vegas Pro and it did not not overwrite on the track... it also had an auto-crossfade mode as well. These are just a couple examples, but honestly, Vegas destroys Resolve in many ways when it comes to basic editing. Even after over 3 years of using Resolve, I still hate editing in it. 😫
Layers and auto-crossfade for videos instead of eating the other clip would be amaaaazing.
I need a setting to realign the whole ui, just like Premiere pro. I can't edit a vertical video on a 16:9 workspace. I have to decide whether I want to see more of the video or more of the timeline.
I’d like to see an update to automatic captions. Where it would highlight each word as it’s being spoken.
Yeah, I’d like to see a lot more out of auto captions. Different ways to animate and emphasize would be really great (especially for client work).
We need áudio remix tool Like the one in premiere pro
That feature alone keeps me with an Audition license. It would be great to have in Fairlight.
1. A true "Remix" feather like Filmora and Pr have. One that lets you extend or shorten music to match your media.
2. A homegrown captioning feature that is easy to use (or maybe easier to us) than Descript with multiple presets like CapCut.
3. The ability to copy and paste text attributes to other text.
4. The ability to save compound clips in Power Bins
5. Please make the font selection alpha responsive so when I type in the first few letters of a font name, it comes up. This way, I don't have to scroll through the hundreds of fonts I have to get to the one I need. You already have this for the effect in Fusion, why not the font field???
6. Expand the number of colors you can save AND allow them to be saved to specific projects for branding purposes. Perhaps even do it by project.
I hope for v20 addressing the Adobes upcoming AI-features. Like gen AI to add a couple of frames when you just need a few more frames to stretch the clip. I also think a chat where you can add a LLM that can build fusion nodes and color grading with text instead of just by draging nodes will be the future. Similar to how apps like Cursor changed how to coders work. There are already ways to script DaVinci Resolve, by making it easy to plugin LLMs we can enable so many more creators to build more advanced effects, or even macros to rough cut first drafts according automagically.
In multicam editing, being able to place the multicam screen on the 2nd video clean screen so you get a better view of what you are cutting.
I would love for it to not crash while I'm working in the fairlight page, it's the only part where it goes wrong for me every single time 😅
Ability to export transcripts with time code. Premier does this really well. I have to do a round trip workaround with other software to do this right now. Use it all the time to send transcripts to clients for review.
Better Retime Curve controls. For some reason, we still can't rotate the handles of the curves when speed ramping. For Fusion, maybe fluid dynamics or just some addition to the particles system. It's been ages.
A switch that can change the background from black and white to white and black.
In summer time, you can see little of the DRs on your screen outside on your laptop.
Rules and guides in edit and fusion page.
it already have these
@@clyntonmann1725 What we have the Grid Effect is the margin of safety.
Faster multi threaded fusion
19.5 - I NEED a DVD / 4K "Adobe Encore" solution. If I could create and burn to disk... Wow, my life would almost be complete!
Brother it's 2025. Nobody burns disks.
@@jakebaine But disks are soooo much better quality than streaming.
@@jakebaine I guess you dont work filing school shows, Art center shows and weddings... Its high demand for normal people who want to keep memories on disk.
1st. Dont Change!!!
In every change I have a big fear nowadays... I am expecting Davinci to stay loyal to the "No SUBSCRIPTION".
To Keep the Studio version (with all the features and upgrades) WITHOUT SUBSCRIPTION.
2nd. FIX BUGS - TOO MANY!Focus on Efficiency and Reliability instead of amazing new features.
3rd. There are some really annoying things in DaVinci - Fix them please.
Most Annoying : Video tracks are often taking a lot of screen space, caused by clips (somewhere in the timeline) with curve control enabled. Just close them automatically or give me keyboard shortcut to close them all without searching in the timeline.
I bought a 42 monitor and I still don't have enough space in my timeline VERTICALY.
In Premiere I never had this problem.
My only solution to this is to toggle timeliness to make them dissappear!
Better Macro creator
Better video stabilisation.
Whilst Da Vinci has some good stabilisation already and does work just fine from time to time, Premiere Pro's Warp Stabiliser is more consistent in its results and has more polish than Da Vinci's. I've used both for a while so I think I have a solid opinion on both software.
Similarity stabilisation in Da Vinci is prone to having weird stutters, random camera zooms, and twitchy outputs, and whilst Translation can iron that out for the vast majority of the time, it doesn't stabilise rotation or tilt so you can still get shaky footage at times. Though saying that, when I want to stabilise static footage, I use Perspective + Camera Lock and 9/10 it does it with no issues whatsoever.
Whether as with Premiere Pro, I know if I just plop it in, hit Warp Stabiliser and set it to 5%, 9/10 I get the smoothed video I want, with no weird twitches or random zooms. So most of the time, if I have a clip that Da Vinci won't stabilise properly or Translation isn't cutting it, I put it into Premiere, export the stabilised clip, and then put it into Da Vinci. It's not the most convenient setup but it is what it is.
Honestly, if Da Vinci could improve their video stabilisation to be on par or, dare say, better than Premiere's, I'd ditch the former and use Da Vinci full time, because other than that, it blows Premiere out the water in everything else.
So, 19.5 and I'd love other basics things, like a "non-destructive transition" I asked before, which is, having "easing" (spell?) and the "ripple timeline" when changing the speed to be "on" by default.
Oh! Having a screen recorder included would be neat :)
or even better lets us chose if its on by default or not without having to click on it everytime.
@@jaimefernandez2624 for sure, yes! (I wanted to say it but, also wanted to keep my comment shorter lol!)
There's quite a few "I want this by default" that could be added.
AI Generative fills would be nice so I don’t need to zoom on odd dimensions pictures…
a revamped macro interface... the few times I've used it, it felt like a huge chore for what should've been a simple text template. and then any nice looking formatting is locked behind having to use a text editor like why
meanwhile in after effects you can just drag and drop all the properties you want and add all that organization in the software... this is the one thing that has bugged the hell out of me in Resolve ever since I started using it
Whether it's 19.5 or 20 is just numbers.
What I'd like to see is a major focus on the efficiency and reliability of Fusion in Davinci. The ONLY crashes I've had while working with DR have been caused by Fusion.
Oh, and also, I'd like to see some uniformity across the UI. For example; in some preview windows, you have to use Ctrl Scroll wheel to zoom in. In others, you just use the scroll wheel. There are other little inconsistencies that I can't remember just now, that are just annoyances.
1. Fade In word by word effect like in AE
2. More intuitive macro saver.
3. Ability to use modifier straight in 3d text node. Normally you have to use a text+ and connect it to Text3D
4. Easier addition of materials to text 3d (or shapes). Like element 3d but built inside of davinci. + Bevel emboss
5. built in bevel and emboss effects
6. Better support for shapes motion graphic anims
yeah fr the fact the you cant haver character styling in the text3d is so unnecessary and annoying.
also that you cant input two seperate 3d materials as bevel and front like in the extrude3d is annoying. Makes everything so much harder
1. You have the follower text modifier
- New keyframe editor similar to after efffects or at least to the level that premiere pro has.
- Ability to rearrange the UI panels. Especially due to demand for vertical video, therefore we need a vertical canvas.
- Alignment tools
- Effects presets usable in all effects (similar to already implemented saveable transition presets)
- Audio waveforms need to be visible at the smallest track size with a setting to toggle on and off the file name when working with the left hand of a track (always hard to see the wave under the text).
- Be able to relink individual missing clips straight from the timeline.
- Fix the current AI tools and add helpful ones similar to Premiere pro like remixing music.
- a render cache option to toggle rendering over specific work areas of the timeline which can be moved (therefore unrendering those previous areas).
V20 my list ( and ive made sure these arent repeats of anyone elses comments yet)
-more rendering options for the USD system, including a better option to render reflections. (more than just the "Storm" renderer)
-better options to have depth of field in the 3D system, a actual lens blur depth of field in the without using a depth map
- auto keyframe options, so instead of keyframes defaulting to linear, they would be based off of a speed curve of my choice
- a integrated video plugin option, like motion array, where i can look up a stock video, or template, and drag it directly into the timeline
-quick export preset option, ones you can make yourself, like i want to be able to hit quick export and just render out a audio waveform
-this is all in addition to the other popular requests here... Keyframe editor that's better/easier. Better macro editor ect...
Four main things . . .
• completely configurable UI like Adobe.
• make Patch Replacer truly useful by adding independently adjustable b-splines for the source & target windows.(Red Giant did it with their version)
• fix the poor tracking of the strokes in Magic Mask(they slip all over the place for no reason).
• and for god sakes, give the option to make the UI in the edit page the same as Adobe, instead of the maddening, unintuative way it is now.
Cheers!
Fusion needs some motion graphic improvements. Puppet tools and the ability to add adjust clips with linked audio to the power bin
I want to see automatic translations into any language.
My bet: 19.5
I‘d love to see alignment tools, dealing with illustrator and photoshop files like in After Effects and a much better keyframe and spline editor in Fusion. If you are coming from After Effects this just doesn‘t feel good in Fusion.
I specifially want transitions and other stuff (which I'm not sure) to be able to applied on adjustment layers
TEXT WRAPPING
This makes me want to swear. I shouldn’t have to manually redo every line of a wall of text just because I want to change the font size.
For software that can do so much astounding stuff it is unimaginable that it can’t handle text the way my VIC-20 could.
Yeah a completely overhauled text engine is really a MUST.
They should use a similar font / text system that illustrator uses. An easy vector based canvas over the screen that allows people to create text easy and move it around / adjust it freely, just like vector fonts in illustrator. It's the most versatile and simple approach
I think it'll be 19.5.
-I would love to see some better captioning options, akin to the likes of CapCut or TikTok where it can do multiple styles of captions and highlight different words live, etc. Captions are also kind funky sometimes and it will sometimes just show a word for a split second, or it will put a word of a sentence starting soon on screen before the audio even starts.
-I would also like the transcription editing to function better since as of now it cuts off the ends of sentences when you remove gaps/empty spaces. Also, Fusion splines and keyframe panels are always a pain to use.
-This would be a major overhaul, but better lighting and texturing in Fusion would be cool to be able to do 3D stuff that doesn't look like it's from the 90s.
Imo it will be 19.5
Just wish every Effect that AE has will be in fusion but at the same level and not a second class quality.
Like Proper Puppet Pin tool
All the ployline design - zigzag, waviness, taper and more
Breaking Glass effect
And i bet there are more...
But if i am to be "realistic" I wish is an improved and fixed version of the Keyframe Panel in Fusion... and diamonds... lot's and lot's of diamonds. i don't think it's much to ask.
I would LOOOVEEE for there to be an easier way to add/edit keyframes, smothing animations and such.
All the alternatives no feel crampt and difficult to use. I never get them to play nice with me 😅 and i don't even know why.
Would be great if keyframes were easier to use for adjusting settings on the color page as well.
It's all there.. just not so intuitive. Hard to hit the correct keyframe and all of that. I like how it is in the inspector on the edit page. I just miss some controls.
-Masks in edit page
-Easy keyframing on fusion page
-motion blur for speed ramps in edit page
I would like to see more tool tips / pop up info when you hover over ALL tools and icons so you know what they do. Not all icons / buttons have this.
I would also like resolve to have some sort of designation to fields that can be right-clicked to provide more options than what you normally can see. It would make using resolve so much easier.
Some software have ditched the normal version numbers and gone with the year instead. So maybe that could be a thing.
But for features. I'm not speculating just yet. But getting the USD 3D ststem to at least feature parity of the normal 3D system. Heck even getting third party renderers in there would be huge. Like. Simething like Blender's Eevee. Or Epics Unreal Engine.
One thing I really would love to see is a system that can take in Gaussian Splats so we can use them as virtual sets. And on top of that, some how use depth extraction to make a displaced 3D plane for humans or other filmed props that can use the Splat as an HDRI for realistic relighting. And also have the Splat be able to occlude regular 3D meshes.
That would be a huge thing in my eyes.
From an audio perspective, I would love to see in Fairlight a clip remix function similar to the one in Audition. That feature alone keeps me with an Audition license.
Animated Subtitles
besides the ability to save compound clips and Fusion clips in power and smart bins, I need an option to exclude specific clips from being affected by an adjustment clip
V20, Here we go:
- I want an tick box option to lock shapes aspect ratios so we don't have to use an expression or size height and width independently.
- I want a beefier 3D system. If AE can have something as strong as Element3D, Fusion should be competitive.
- I want a small ease-of-use addition: a simply hotkey that allows for quick-connecting nodes and another to cycle the connection through inputs. I hate having to find those triangles.
- Right-click to reset your adjustment (like Blender has) would be awesome.
Those are what immediately jump into mind.
- automatic music stretcher like in premiere pro!
- and better keyframe editor
- better collaboration via NAS
- improved auto-captions for (swiss-)german
I'd like to see the option to adjust the mapping on the Speed Editor. All those buttons in the middle that don't really do anything unless you're editing a multi-camera shoot? It would be nice to be able to re-map them for a feature that I actually use.
(like blender) CONSISTENT SHORTCUT KEYS PLEASE BLACKMAGIC, I BEG YOU!!
Ability to increase the GUI font size. We older folks using 4K GUI monitors have a tough time seeing the small program fonts.
Get a 5K monitor. HUGE difference in clarity.
@@coursedesign8312 Thanks for trying to help but unfortunately it is the small size of the font on high rez monitors that makes reading difficult, When I use DR on a 1080p monitor the font sizes are larger and readable.
The UI size can be changed in preferences. is set mine to 200℅ and it makes the text bigger too.
@ Thanks so very much for that help. I'd missed that setting in DR completely, Big help
1.Performance improvements: Its been running slower ever since davinci 19.
2.Auto save Magic Masks: You dont have to render out your magic mask over and over.
3.More cool AI features and improvements and effect presets.
4.A couple of keyframe improvements and other possible overhawl of the node system, that lets you use
1: Nodes
2: A layered system like premier pro.
Because for some people its really hard to understand.
Merge cut page & edit page, vertical workspace, easy keyframe editor.
Multiple layouts for the edit page (fusion page already has this) to optimize screen estate for vertical video.
I would love to see then focus even more on the collaboration part. Right now Resolve is the only good software for doing so, but it would be awesome to see them introduce even more collaboration features and making it the best software out there for collaborative workflow. Especially for the bigger production companies out there.
In Avid Media Composer, when you view your media folder in frame mode, you can click and drag on each individual file and move them around the folder to create groups of shots such as all your wide shots, all your medium shots or all your shots of individual characters. I really hate not being able to do this in Resolve.
It’s probably going to be 19.5.
Interestingly enough, my biggest request actually is more Fairlight related. I want a spectral frequency display that allows me to select and operate on specific frequencies or sounds. The neural engine stuff is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but there are instances where being able to specifically isolate and remove/modify smaller pieces of audio quickly would be a game-changer.
I would like live recording straight from camera a bit like streaming software like OBS, would save loads of time for content creation
Fix the speed retime and curve controls on the edit page. The keyframe and curve editor should all be able to be edited within the inspector panel. Zooming in on a clip on your timeline is a headace especially if your are trying to precisly retime with your audio track.
Open up fusion to allow 3rd party render engines. V-ray would be nice to use inside fusion.
Bug Fixes and Features asked since a long while:
1..drfx today are not working correctly when a footages is included rather than still pictures (when not .drfx, things are working fine)
2. multicam timelines wrong representation into the preview screen. If the timeline is a scene itself, it doesn't keep position, size, zoom etc.
3. supported cue markers into wave files
4. Pause rendering
5. reconstruction of wave envelope failure
6. not able to delete custom databases
7. missing upload progression
8. missing placeholders
8. Compound Clip: FX in original clip aren't into the compound, when that compound is inside a Multicam Timeline
10. Item markers on Fusion composition, visible on Fusion Tab
11. missing searching box for fonts
... many others
i would LOVE a mesh warper node in fusion. the lack of one is the only thing keeping final cut installed on my machine.
1) In the Edit Page, when you add a border from effects, have the border stay with the clip if you shrink the clip with the transform in the inspector.
2) In the Edit Page, with Auto Sync Audio, add Sync with In Point or Marker
A serious custom controls editor where I don't have to copy paste the nodes into a text editor everytime I want to make adjustments. And 19.5 :D
What I've wanted since my start with Ressolve - Midi Recording, programing and editing in fairlight. Just basic. don't need anything fancy. Basically a mini DAW built in. Can already play VST synths with midi in Fairlight and record the audio out but would love to be able to record the midi or program it so you could actually score in fairlight. Also the ability to import/export midi tracks so they could be shared with a more advanced DAW if needed. Would be nice to at least get a basic sketch of the midi score done in resolve rather than having to export the video into my DAW as currently because ofc if you then change video need to export again so to match the score which is just not very Resolve.
Yessssssssssssssss to this. I think this would be bigger the Blackmagic understands. They will get a lot more people using the software if this was possible. The closer Fairlight becoming an legetimate DAW would make this DR more professional for more people and would continue to build on DR initial premise, which is, it's a all in one program.
- Alignment tool
- Better caption / animation
- Better spline editor
I want the old Windows Movie Maker clip splitter. Where you imported a video and it just split it up automatically.
Not where it has to calculate scene cuts like current. But just did it random. It helped to have a bunch of small clips to look through than shifting through whole episodes.
-automatic backup for projects that are in the cloud
-clear file management for files and proxies in the cloud. and a possibility to clean it.
- maybe last colour node adjustments with colour panels, when you are in Edit page;
-support for vector files;
- fix the problem with black background, instead of transparent, when masking alpha channel;
- custom settings for some keys on Speed Editor (at least cut to end/start to playhead);
- new colour panel, with ColorSlice? (hw request)
- new Atem mini ISO, but with 4K support? (hw request)
TRANSITIONS!!! I just want DVR's transition to remove or "play around" (because, sometimes, I really want or need to keep the removed frames) the frames they need to fit without needing me to remove them manually.
Seriously, if the old Windows Movie Maker from 2012(!) could do it, how on Earth is DVR not able to do it???
Rotoscoping tool like in AE. Mag is not a precise tool
Movable anchor in shapes
Ability to change default page
Rulers and guides
Pixel-based measuring sides as an alternative for relative calculus
Automate to Sequence at unnumbered markers would be very helpful
I just want them to fix the audio bugs. Sometimes audio doesn't play, sometimes it sounds choppy, sometimes the waveforms don't show up on projects, or they don't update as you move/edit them so they appear to have the wrong waveforms
Deliver Page injecting metadata for 360° videos. Premiere Pro has this as a simple checkmark, but for Davinci Resolve we need to use third part applications in order to have the correct metadata for 360 videos. It should be an easy implementation.
My big ones are
- the ability to customize the editor more, hide more stuff, dock windows
- better media management. Its great, but I'd like more views/control over things like tags, categories etc.
- oh and to add to that, better marker stuff. I hate how fiddly the marker bar on the timeline is. Please let me resize it, stack layers of overlapping markers etc. Toggle marker groups.
- I'd also like a way to work with fusion comps specifically designed to have multiple inputs that don't require you make 3x1, 4x2 etc constantly and/or have an easier way to reference the layers underneath without relying on the confusion reference comp thing.
I think it'll be 19.5, unless BMD has some major major update up their sleeve. I'd love to see - and I'm not normally a fan of this - but more AI. Specifically, a way to extend a scene or a better patch replacer/fixer tool.
Changing different app windows like in Premier Pro
An ideal 20 would maybe a better consolidation of the different programs. One one hand it’s great not having to have multiple programs to round tip through, but sometimes I feel like the Resolve suite is Ripley’s machine gun, flame thrower, grenade launcher, flashlight from Aliens. We have two different timeline based tools spread out over three pages and two different node based tools. It makes for a lot of confusion sometimes between keyboard shortcuts and viewers and so on. The inspector panel doesn’t even work the same on different pages. I just feel like I should be able to have a clip in the timeline and open it in a node editor and see the basics of what has happened to clip on the timeline already when I open it.
Need just one feature 🥵 Secondary playhead , moving the playhead just by hovering 🤩( Same as final cut pro skimming feature🤛)
I would love to be able to use Adobe After F/X in Resolve. We need a conversion program that would allow Resolve to incorporate into our projects. Thanks Patrick
Many bugs to fix but hey, I'll grab a whole category.
Revamp Fusion
I want much better support for vector files (ai, eps). It would be great if we could import them as regular files, without conversion to shapes. This is the last thing keeping me from completely abandoning After Effects
I want Clip Color to be included in the list of effects that are copy and paste-able.
I would love the ability to add audio effects, scratch that, just audio in Fusion.
Also better ways of parenting node properties and copy/pasting things from property to property.
Good alignment tools would be nice too, something with snapping for splines for example, or just rulers for the Fusion viewer that we can snap things to.
A fusion modifier that can work on the live sound waveform. Other editors have been able to do this for a while.
i was thinking about this the other day, imagine if they implemented some kind of chat gpt system where it could analyze the shot, and you can ask it to do things through text prompts like 'remove this tattoo' and it would do it for you
V20 I want, being able to make favorites with in and out to do selects in the edit and cut page. I also want continuous playback from one clip to the next in the edit page. Basically make it more like FCP.
I think it will be 19.5
1.- A way to duplicate the same effect in the same clip on the edit page, keeping the attributes, until now if you copy and paste attributes these overwrite the existing ones, they should put a checkbox like: "Copy and keep existing effects"
2.- Being able to modify parameters in the inspector just by using the mouse scroll.
3.- A simultaneous Text + graphics editor on the edit page, simply selecting them all just like "Text" works, something like what WJTimeline did but more integrated and with more capacity.
4.- Improve overall performance, since v19 I have suffered multiple crashes, just opening the effects tab when you are in fusion takes about 4 seconds and can even generate an absurd crash.
Something I really wanted from da Vinci was to be able to automatically save the configuration file to the project folder.
When I used Vegas pro, it would put a configuration file with the project. I moved from one computer to another and did not properly bring my database over. I really would’ve liked to have had the configuration file for a couple projects.
I agree with fixing the bugs first. I deal with bugs on a daily basis. I reported one to black magic design and they confirmed it and said that they would get it fixed. I guess I can take the time to report every bug I come across but that takes time.
Id love to see Resolve get Native Support to adjust CST for the footage its ingesting. So many times my iPhone footage comes out white because I forget to color grade even though its not log.
I feel like It should be V20.
- What I want is more Keyframe options and easier tool.
- I want a spindown effect added into resolve, there is a plugin but its a little bit of a pain to install.
I'm real hyped for whatever they add
Imagine if the bugs were fixed. wow. sci-fi
improve keyframe smoothing in edit page
