I love how both Torvi and Legatha knew that Hviserk was going to win. Soon as Torvi saw Hviserk fighting her son she knew he was gone. Also love how you can hear Hviserk battle cry before it even shows him.
Hvitserk wonders why he chose Ivar's side? Because at the heart of it, they're a pair of bloodthirsty bastards. Hvitserk has a taste for battle even Ivar doesn't have. He goes into battle laughing and smiling throughout it all and seems to enjoy killing far more than any of his brothers except for Ivar. It's too bad they're both too shortsighted to realize the reason they've stuck together is because they're so alike.

Yeah they all inherited certain traits of their father. Ragnar used to have that same smile. Ubbe has that trait in him too but not nearly as much as Hvitserk

Hvitserk is the real Berserker!!! He never lost a fight against anyone or showed himself weak!! He's just a dark character, but everyone respects him, you could see the face of lagertha when he was fighting against Jarl Borg's son, clearly she knew that odds was against Gothrum!!! Hope Hvitserk will do more important things and will have an ambition to be a leader outside the battle too!!!

Bjorn was 16 during the first battles with jarl Borg so Hvitserk was not too young to be good warrior even tho he was less experienced than Aethelwulf, he could have inherited some of his fathers fighting skills

You’re underestimating Hvitserk. He’s a beast in Battle, reminds me a lot of Rollo. Ubbe is also a beast and reminds me of Ragnar when he fights. I think Ubbe will win, but just about.

What're you talking about?? Despite being crippled Ivar HAS gotten his hands dirty fighting at York multiple times and when initially avenging Ragnar. Just because he occasionally sits in the back doesn't mean he's done less. He's honestly way too valuable and sharp a mind to risk putting into battle anyways. It'd be like saying the king in chess is useless, when the whole game revolves around capturing the king because then everything else crumbles. Hvitserk is awesome but he's the fighter, if he goes down the army won't lose it's best tactician and chance of winning the war. Sorry long response that's just my $0.02

People say Ivar is cold and ruthless, but you have to be pretty damn bloodthirsty to kill someone you grew up with, played with, knew your whole life, and was an extended member of your family. (Guthrum is Hvitserk's step-nephew for those who lost track at home.) Hvitserk is a true berserker on the field, all he cares about is killing his next opponent. There's a reason he always seems to be smiling during combat.

It should be faithful to the sagas because the sagas are way more interesting than this tv show's timeline, and if they're going to display historical figures then what's the point of basing them on that figure if you're just gonna kill them before they are even significant people in history? I can tolerate and even enjoy some historical twists and liberties in fiction but Vikings is completely out of hand and it's annoying as fuck watching it happen.

Rewatching this, I realise the producers of Vikings must have been very inspired by the 2015 adaptation of Macbeth. The visual language of this episode and even the music is just like the opening battle in that film. Björn is even wearing Micheal Fassbender's armor from that film!

Crow's Eye second? Ubbe de facto defeated him but he speared his life, Harald and his brother were also stronger fighters than Hvitserk. Harald and Heathmund killed a lot of Lagertha's forces by themself

One of the best shows ever, it isn't a documentary wich would not be close to this good, look at how many people are commenting good or bad, there hasn't been this much anticipation for many shows. Battle scenes are epic, there will be some metal songs from me coming inspired by this show

Vikings has taken a lot of liberties with some characters, but then again, this Guthrum might not be the same as the badass who was with the Great Heathen Army
NxOD I just started The Last Kingdom a few days ago. I've only watched the first episode, but I hear great things about the show. The first episode was REALLY good. I'll get back to you when I watch both seasons & see their interpretation of Guthrum.

I reallly love the first seasons of Vikings, one of my favourite series ever. But this is getting ridiculous now. So both Torvi and Lagertha look like they are aged 20 to 25, while Björn, Lagertha's son, looks like in his 40s at least, which he would be meanwhile. Why the ef do they not let the women age? Ragnar died middle aged, King Egbert was a doter, and still Lagertha looks ever younger and now even younger than her own son? She would at least be between 50 and 60 now, why don't they show her aged and powerful instead of that hollywood conform "women always have to eternally stay super young to be attractive" - Bullshit!
Yep. That's popular entertainment for you. One of the things I liked about this show in the beginning was that the women looked reasonably healthy and might actually be able to fight or work a farm. Now they've changed Lagertha into Xena Warrior Princess and made Torvig her fuck toy along with that sickening anorexic "shield maiden" who fortunately got killed in this same episode...all to appease modern popular ideas of beauty. If this were realistic, Lagertha would look like Granny Old Age by now, but would have gained some dignity and wisdom along the way and be loved and respected for it!

What lie did Aslaug tell?? It's not like she lied about being pregnant by Ragnar, it was honestly his kid. She didn't make Lagertha leave, Lagertha CHOSE to do that all on her own because she felt "humiliated" (she then learns the true meaning of the word after marrying Earl Sigvard). Ragnar even begged her to stay and she still walked.
Asluag being a shitty wife dosen't change any of those facts. Quite the opposite, had Lagertha stuck around Aslaug would have been little more than a baby factory and Lagertha would have been the true Queen. But she didn't and THAT is why Lagertha lost her "husband and her world"...because she walked out on them.
The bottom line there WOULD BE NO WAR if Lagertha did not decide to usurp Kattegat TWENTY YEARS AFTER THE FACT. Keep in mind she also refused to go to England with Ragnar JUST SO she could usurp Kattegat after he had left.
