Hvitsertk hasn't been trained by anyone, he has a natural talent for fighting. I really love his split personality: outside of combat, he's a quiet person who doesn't talk much compared to his brothers, but once the fight starts, he goes into berserker mode and becomes a killing machine that really enjoys fighting. I think that's why he joined Ivar rather than Ubbe. Even if he preferred Ubbe, he didn't want to become a farmer like him, he wanted to continue looting and fighting, and that's what Ivar promised him. The Ivar/Hvitsertk duo, regardless of the arguments they had along the way, was the perfect duo. Ivar implemented brilliant strategies which were applied by great warriors like Hvitserk

Only Rollo and perhaps Heahmund would have had a clear advantage on Rollo and that's because Rollo was just absurd in the show: Easily beating Floki even before Borg joined in, easily kills one eye, matches Borg in one quick encounter and completely disarms him immediately in another, beats down (admittedly) drug addled Ragnar. Beyond Rollo, even a Heahmund would struggle or be even with Hvitserk. The guy spent the latter half of his appearances doubting himself when he was in the top echelon of fighters shown.
Hvitserk looks really uncoordinated at times, yes is loves bloodshed and fighting but he is much smaller and weaker than Bjorn. Bjorn is just too strong too fast and too experience for any of his brothers to compete with him. I always felt like Ubbe and Hvitserk have more plot armor than anything else, they are quite vulnerable when fighting and the only reason nobody exploits that is because they are main characters.

If he hadn’t been so consumed with addiction and grief, and been so trauma bonded with Ivar, Hvitserk could’ve taken Norway for himself in time. He fights like a wounded wolf. Watching battle scenes in this show is always exhilarating but seeing Hvitserk fight pulls me to the edge of my seat.
Hvitserk was criminally underused and slept on in this show. He had flashes of them possibly giving him a interesting arc, but for every step forward they would take with him they’d take 2 back. He ended up basically being the side kick in every storyline. But by pure skill, I think he was the best fighter of the sons of Ragnar. Björn and Ubbe were more physically imposing, but Hvitserk is honestly more impressive than either despite appearing to be the physically smallest of the siblings (except maybe Sigurd) I honestly think his body count in the last season probably surpassed even prime Ragnar. In my opinion, Hvitserk is one of the most vicious fighters of Ragnars sons because he was literally an Ulfhednar and I think that the series continually hinted at it. You can see it in the way he fights, his vocalizations in battle, his descent into addiction ( historically Ulfhednar and Berserkers took natural substances to induce the trance-fury in which they fight, but Hvitserk was able to achieve this *naturally* just by fighting and descended into addiction in times of peace to try to achieve that same high- which he could only really do when he started fighting again.) How he was generally dual in personality- super chill with a charming smile, sense of humor and enthusiasm but became effortlessly and almost gracefully homicidal in battle. Last but not least as the series progresses, a key part of his outfit is the Wolf fur on his shoulders. Compare Hvitserk to the Berserker that was assigned to kill Bjorn ( rather disappointing fight scene from that Berserker, but Im referring to the Growling scene) or better yet, the Maul Berserker with the hammer. The only reason Hvitserk didnt take the solitary path of the berserker is because- and I know this sounds cheesy af- wolves are pack animals. He was always by one of his brothers side and when he wasnt, he was most vulnerable. In my opinion, Bjorn was a beast, a natural tactician and extremely tough. But in a serious fight against Hvitserk, he would be too rational whereas Hvitserk damn near dances while fighting, no thought beyond which direction to head in to continue killing. A true match for Hvitserk would be Rollo- because Rollo was a Berserker.
The sloppiness in his fighting is pretty damn real. The way he kind of prances and shows the emotion is crazy. Also the fact that he still takes damage and isn't just killing everyone makes it feel so much more real
Hvitserk didn’t get a lot of persistent screen time in S6 but he’s truly a very good fighter and saved Ivar’s ass more than 1 times In S5 he killed the son of Björn, S6 killed lagherta and wessex’s leader army which save Ivar from a certain defeat. Everytime Hvitserk is fighting he will always create consequences

Bjorn and Ubbe were no-nonsense fighters and went straight for the killig blow, Hvitserk danced around the battlefield because he had the agility, talent and reflexes to pull it off and Ivar was an absolute psychopath that would keep stabbing a dead guy despite being surrounded by dozens of enemies. I love how even their fighting styles show off their personality in some way. Really cool.
To the people who say Bjorn would beat Hvisterk, the only feat I see from Bjorn being above Hvitserk is killing a bear, beyond that? Hvitserk was one of the absolute top fighters in the show. Only Rollo would have a clear advantage on him as that guy had an advantage on everyone when he was in Sly One mode, guy was relentless and it's a wonder drug addled Ragnar was able to keep up with him in the hitting match like he did.

I just started Vikings this year and recently just finished it by far as fighters go.. the moment Hvitserk was introduced, I instantly fell in love with the character. His development was relatable and seeing hime climb above the impossible was fulfilling.. Such great writing.. could have been better in my opinion. But still amazing nonetheless. All things aside........ Hvitserk is a FUCKING SAVAGE!! The way he engages battle is ferocious and swift.. taking everything head on.. no regrets.. enduring every moment with pure adrenaline.... blessed with the highest thirst for bloodshed, amongst the Sons of Ragnar, by the Gods. So many honorable mentions..... Bishop Heahmund, Warrior of Christ.. Queen Largatha, the Greatest Shield Maiden.. Bjorn Ironside, the True King of Norway.. I think it's cause Ivar is not only louder but monstrously evil in a way. Hvitserk was very dangerous in battle due to his skill. But off the battlefield he's was more calm and less unpredictable unlike ivar. Hvitserk loves the fighting while ivar loves the pain and suffering of others. You'd fear hvitserk on the battlefield but you'll fear ivar on AND off the battlefield. Dude threw an axe at his own brother out of nowhere (I get the aslaug comment got to him but I just don't think it warranted that reaction personally) killing him in cold blood in front of everyone and then proceeds like nothing happened. Ivar proves time and time again how vicous and evil and downright vindictive he can be even off the battlefield. Ivar is considered a leader due to his loudness while hvitserk is quieter and not demanding attention to be on him
they were afraid of Ivar's mind not really physically..although scary when he kills on the ground like a snake toward its victims... Ivar was intelligent and full of rage
I felt bad when he was in his depressed addiction phase and talked about how he hadn't achieved anything in life. He was always electric on the battlefield and at one point was the iron fist of Ivar's regime. He accomplished a lot.
You can tell he was taught heavily by rollo on how to fight. He's probably just as good a fighter as rollo and ragnar and not many could beat those 2 in a fight ragnar and rollo threw down once and almost beat eachother to death.

I think if they leaned more into Hvitserk being more of a “Berserker” type character- they had him do mushrooms etc, which is what they did historically. At times it just felt they didn’t know what to do with him, I think making him be just as crazy as Ivar would’ve been pretty cool.
This may be because its been a while since I've seen Ragnar and Rollo fight but I truly believe he is the greatest warrior we got to see in the series and I feel that he was only going to get better had we seen more of him

@@jammypacks4504 He's better than ubbe for sure, he beats ubbe mid-high diff... however him and Bjorn are roughly equals, Bjorn may win through experience but hvitserk is much more talented and probably has much more potential than the 2 greatest fighters heahmund and rollo if he hasn't already surpassed them.

Bjorn and Ubbe were no-nonsense fighters and went straight for the killig blow, Hvitserk danced around the battlefield because he had the agility, talent and reflexes to pull it off and Ivar was an absolute psychopath that would keep stabbing a dead guy despite being surrounded by dozens of enemies.
I love how even their fighting styles show off their personality in some way. Really cool.

To the people who say Bjorn would beat Hvisterk, the only feat I see from Bjorn being above Hvitserk is killing a bear, beyond that? Hvitserk was one of the absolute top fighters in the show. Only Rollo would have a clear advantage on him as that guy had an advantage on everyone when he was in Sly One mode, guy was relentless and it's a wonder drug addled Ragnar was able to keep up with him in the hitting match like he did.
Yeah he is faster and more skilled in combat moves.
But Bjorn is a wiser fighter and stronger. Very hard to predict.
Blocking Bjorns strikes is probably not pleasant.

From my perspective Hvitserk is a Berserker, who thrives on a battlefield. It's almost the only place for him to unleash all his deamons and rage to somehow make it up for all the sorrow and pain he's been through. Being his own enemy himself, every fight is fight for his true self. Fierce, dark yet so loyal. Fave character!

I swear Hvitserk fights like he’s on Psycho-Jet 24/7. Uber chad. This might be a hot take but I think he’s the best fighter of Aslaugs children. There’s a fantastic debate for Ubbe as well but I think Hvitserk just has that primal rage. Ubbe is smart as hell but I feel like he’d get overwhelmed. No way either of em could take Bjorn tho.

I just started Vikings this year and recently just finished it by far as fighters go.. the moment Hvitserk was introduced, I instantly fell in love with the character. His development was relatable and seeing hime climb above the impossible was fulfilling.. Such great writing.. could have been better in my opinion. But still amazing nonetheless.
All things aside........ Hvitserk is a FUCKING SAVAGE!! The way he engages battle is ferocious and swift.. taking everything head on.. no regrets.. enduring every moment with pure adrenaline.... blessed with the highest thirst for bloodshed, amongst the Sons of Ragnar, by the Gods.
So many honorable mentions..... Bishop Heahmund, Warrior of Christ.. Queen Largatha, the Greatest Shield Maiden.. Bjorn Ironside, the True King of Norway.. Rollo, the Great Warrior.. and last but certainly not least.. Lord Aethelwulf of Wessex...
All of Ragnar's children were great fighters, but Hvitserk was the only one who truly taps into that Berserker mode.
I felt like Hvitserk really got a bum wrap in the show, dude was a straight fuckin savage.

I think it's cause Ivar is not only louder but monstrously evil in a way. Hvitserk was very dangerous in battle due to his skill. But off the battlefield he's was more calm and less unpredictable unlike ivar. Hvitserk loves the fighting while ivar loves the pain and suffering of others. You'd fear hvitserk on the battlefield but you'll fear ivar on AND off the battlefield. Dude threw an axe at his own brother out of nowhere (I get the aslaug comment got to him but I just don't think it warranted that reaction personally) killing him in cold blood in front of everyone and then proceeds like nothing happened. Ivar proves time and time again how vicous and evil and downright vindictive he can be even off the battlefield. Ivar is considered a leader due to his loudness while hvitserk is quieter and not demanding attention to be on him
they were afraid of Ivar's mind not really physically..although scary when he kills on the ground like a snake toward its victims... Ivar was intelligent and full of rage
I felt bad when he was in his depressed addiction phase and talked about how he hadn't achieved anything in life. He was always electric on the battlefield and at one point was the iron fist of Ivar's regime. He accomplished a lot.

You can tell he was taught heavily by rollo on how to fight. He's probably just as good a fighter as rollo and ragnar and not many could beat those 2 in a fight ragnar and rollo threw down once and almost beat eachother to death.

I think if they leaned more into Hvitserk being more of a “Berserker” type character- they had him do mushrooms etc, which is what they did historically. At times it just felt they didn’t know what to do with him, I think making him be just as crazy as Ivar would’ve been pretty cool.
Agreed they should have made him a berserker. It would play into his addiction too.

This may be because its been a while since I've seen Ragnar and Rollo fight but I truly believe he is the greatest warrior we got to see in the series and I feel that he was only going to get better had we seen more of him
