That is such a beautiful fabric. A perfect choice with those draping ruffled sleeves and the lovely flowy skirt pattern. Your teaching is clear and helpful. I'm so grateful to you! I haven't done a lot with knits, so all of these great tips you give us are so valuable!! I wish we got to see the dress on you to see how the sleeves fall and how long the front of the hi part of the hi-low hem. Perhaps there will be a picture of you wearing the dress on Facebook. Thank you so much!!! ❤
I'm making this dress tomorrow in a girls size 18/24m, and I really can't wait to see it all done!! It's so cute! I love you tutorials so much!! I think I've watched 5 a day lol I "watch" them while I'm sewing too! Thank you so much for all the great tips!😍
I am a long term subscriber and watch all your videos. Love this dress, these tutorials take all the worry out of making something new, you explain everything so well. Seeing the construction all the way through gives me the opportunity to see if I might have a problem or do something differently......I might be tempted to sew the front bodice to the skirt and then sew the lining to enclose the waist seam. You are sew confident on the serger, I am still very slow a cautious 😂😏 xx
Wow! I've never done any dress making before, but this I can really see me achieving! Great video tutorial, I'm off to find me some fabric.. Brilliant and excited.. 😍💡😊
I've been subscribed for a while and have purchased a few patterns but this is the first video I have watched. I have never sewn a thing so I know I am going to fumble through it unlike your graceful sewing lol. I've seen so many post this dress on Facebook and I love it every time. I'm going to get brave enough to sew it eventually 💗
Cant wait to make this pattern. Thanks so much for all of the fabulous tutorials, I have been subscribed for a few months now and love how simple you make everything look..
I am so jealous that you can eyeball your hems. That’s my new goal! Thanks for this tutorial - I just got a serger and was looking for something to make for my 3-year old niece. This pattern is the perfect combo of fancy/princessy and easy to make. I’m wondering if a lettuce hem would make the sleeves even more ruffley.
If I have a heavier cotton lycra, can I not use a liner and finish the neckline with bias? Thank you for this video, I have the pattern and was hesitant to start...not anymore!
I love all your patterns! I have several that im planning on making by October. I like the fact that you all have many dress and skirt options for people like me that only wear those pieces of clothing. I have been a subscriber for a while and enjoy every tutorial. Thank you! Oh agree with the liner. I use the same fabric as whatever I'm making with it to line it.
First time sewer here, I love the feel of wearing stretch fabrics but haven't been able to find any that really suit my taste. So, can you please tell me where is the best place to find pretty stretch fabrics?
So is your cutting mat in beginning metal since the magnets stuck or is there metal under your mat and the magnets are just that strong? And if it is a metal mat, where did you get it?
Just subscribed! I'm loving your tutorials! I'm a complete newbie at sewing and I've definitely caught the bug 🥰 Just purchased a few of your patterns to get me started I'm so excited ❤ x
I wanna make this dress, but I’m having a little bit of an issue with the sizing. The dress is drafted for 5.5 I’m 5.2 it has two areas where you can shorten or lengthen on the Bodice and then again on the skirt part do I distribute the difference between the two or do I do the difference on both? sorry if that sounded confusing and thank you in advance
I'm struggling with fabric mainly because I'm convinced I'll mess it up! As a beginner I would really like to start by (don't shoot me!) using some sheeting material until I get more confident, am I totally wasting my time or is it a good way of just having a go? I realise it won't hang as nicely. I ❤ the tutorial, please keep up the great work as it gives me hope. XXX
Making a trial version with cheaper fabric is smart and recommended. You want to use the same type of fabric that the garment calls for. If it’s a woven pattern, sheeting would work. If it’s stretch fabric pattern, you’ll need to use stretch fabric. Walmart has some cheap knits for this.
Wow! That was a quick sew! I thought it would take a long time! I do have a question for you though. I am doing the kids version and didn't turn this on till I already had the bodice done, but now wondering if i should re-do it. There was nothing in my instructions about a liner. :( Is that just something you do? Or did I miss something? I may just try one with the liner just to compare before I place on the bodice. As usual! Great video!
I am wanting to make this dress with lace overlay as a wedding renewal dress. Can I use non stretch fabric for this pattern and add a zipper to the back? Or do you have any recommendations? I already purchased the fabric years ago and would like to use it. I have a poly blend silky fabric along with the lace for the overlay. Any help would be appreciated!
because its a fitted pattern which will have negative easy you need to use stretch fabric. If I was going to try to make it with woven, I would size up and I would make a mock up first before using my good fabric ❤️
Have a question about sewing the skirt together. The pockets are marked at a different height on front and back, meaning if you line up pockets and bottom there's 4cm or 1 3/4" extra fabric on the front piece above the pocket. I've doubled checked and the pockets is marked and sewn according to the pattern. But this isn't mentioned in the video. How do I solve this?
I just subscribed. This is a beautiful pattern, haven't sewn it up yet but you make it look so easy that I may have to do this soon. Thank you for the great video! You mentioned nude or white ITY. Can you recommend a place to purchase? I've been looking at my usual fabric go to's and haven't found it yet. Thank you.
I have not sewn this as a sleeveless pattern and the pattern is not drafted for sleeveless but if I wanted to try it as a sleeveless I would either fold the armcye under and topstitch or measure the armcye and create bands at 80%

Magnetic where I can find it???
What kind of magnet system do you have
I was wondering if this dress could be made sleeveless? If so, what would you do about the armscye hole?
I have not sewn this as a sleeveless pattern and the pattern is not drafted for sleeveless but if I wanted to try it as a sleeveless I would either fold the armcye under and topstitch or measure the armcye and create bands at 80%
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC Thank you! I'll probably just keep the short flounce sleeves. I'm wanting to make this to wear for our 10 year vow renewal.
