Love my R. Genuinely think it's one on the fastest point to point cars on a twisty British B road. Lots of things are faster but the R just gets it's power down so well. The harder you accelerate around a corner the tighter it turns
It's a great piece of kit. I loved it, as you can probably tell from the video 👍 And, IMO, people who keep going on about them being boring are just talking nonsense. I was many things during my time with that car, but bored was never one of them, nope.
"Genuinely think it's one on the fastest point to point cars on a twisty British B road" - that's exactly what I said when I got mine. I'm much quicker cross country in my mk7R than I ever was on my R1
I bet that is quite funny 👍 I really enjoyed that car and it's still going strong. Hoping to do another review on it soon. Its got even better and hopefully so have my videoing skills🤣
Many thanks 👍Personnally, I prefered the GTi. Lighter & manual gearbox always does it for me. Did prefer the R's brakes though and it's still a great car (IMO the perfect daily driver).
@@midlifemotors5050 Lighter & manual is what I’m used to as well, I don’t mind a manual daily though. Also, the GTI pp comes with the brakes from the R

Can’t wait to get my mk8 manual R here in the states 🙌🏼 great stuff
Haven't managed to have a go in the mk8 yet but fingers crossed my time will come. These cars are awsome, nice choice 👍
Great video mate, really well presented 👌
Thanks fella 👍 It was an early one so steep learning curve!!
The colour of that car really helped too, looked fantastic in the outside shots.
I've got a stage one R estate and it's the best all round car I've owned. I love leaving people for dead in an Estate..... :D

4:24 I’m not really having to drop a gear
1 second later: drops a gear 😂
I blame the car. Wasn't the car, but that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it 😉
Great video. In terms of just driving pleasure which one do u prefer, the GTI or R?

@@shijovarghese1837 Ahh, didn't realise that. Good knowledge 👍 They would make the GTi even better. Must try and get a drive in a pp GTi.
mk 7.5 with stage 1 APR and DSG turne into a 370hp 500nm is worth more than a mk8
Agree 100%. That apr stage 1 is mega 👌
Yawn
