All of you complaining on how "oily" this looks yet you're eating delicious, cheesy and greasy cheeseburgers at McDonald's on the daily. Lol! Get out of here with your nonsense TH-cam specialists. You all know you would eat this in a heartbeat. This food looks delicious to be honest with you. Great video Mark! Subscribed.
I wasn't talking about Mark. He has the right to complain because he has experience with food. I was talking about the TH-cam specialists who love commenting retarded comments. You all know who you are.
Hey Mark, my Vietnamese friend taught me to squeeze the lime into the salt and pepper, then dip the beef when eating Bo Kho. I highly recommend that taste experience!
Thomas Mon I agree to an extent. I don't know how easily one would find mozzerella bread in around as the cheese would be a bit mor italiano. but a piece of bread is about as old as recorded history from what I have seen. IThe oil is even great while cooking. However, nothing wrong with skimming a little with the serving. Lean meat is just that. Like in the french and elsewhere browned butter ads a robust flavor texture as I am fairly confident we need fat for the flavor of cooking delicious meats with a robust dish. That bread and oily beef?...can I order one? I am american white boy but it looked like what my boss would offer me and I never said no ;-) Rus-sian breads. Africa?? I just wonder nowadays what really tastes bad unless it is completely decomposed LOL.Peace
I find it strangely satisfying watching you eat, Mark. Maybe it's the awesome facial expressions you make after each bite lol. I guess I just like watching people enjoy eating their food. Anyways, it's cool to see that you've eaten almost every well known Vietnamese dish so far during your visit. If you haven't already tried them, here are a couple of dishes I think you'd really like: Thit Heo Kho (Braised pork belly), Canh Chua Ca (Sweet and sour fish soup), Cao Lau (Special noodles with pork, fresh greens topped with pork crackling and spicy sauce) (only available in Hoi An unfortunately). Keep up the great stuff, dude :-)
Mark Wiens Also forgot to mention, Mi Vit Tiem (Egg noodles in a herbal duck based broth with roast duck typically served with bok choi and mushrooms)!
Your very kind but your a fish herbs and chillies man! What I love about you is your ability to try and find the best in every meal that makes everybody want to try the places you visit!
Mark, you truly relish your food but it all goes to your toes because you are as trim as can be - good for you. Delicious food and wonderful locations. Bravo monsieur! :D
The scream came from a traditional Vietnamese soap opera playing on the tv in the background. Vietnamese soaps are very dramatic as you can already tell lol.
The bread is dry, and the beef stew is for dipping the bread. This way you can get the spicy of the stew absorb by the soft part of the bread, and the crunchy of the bread skin still there. I don't put the meat on the bread. I just break the bread apart and do a quick dip into the stew and eat it like that. I use the spoon to scoop up the meat and other to eat along with it.
Mark weins, I love your videos and watch you chow down on food. It's spiritual but go to dai lak. I'm Vietnamese but I think it's enjoyable for you and your wife. They call it Lovers Lane of Vietnam! Thank you.
Thats funny. Im called Ut Nhung too, Ut bc im the youngest child and Nhung is my vietnamese name. Love ur vids Mark. Keep up the good work. I eat hot chili peppers w every meal as well. Thanks for making my mouth water all the time. Cant wait to take a trip home and maybe stop by Thailand to try ur recommendations. Take care!
If you are in District 1 go to Pho 2000 and have their stew/pho dish.... they put pho noodles in with it and it is amazing. Its 50% pho, 50% french stew. One of the most delicious things Ive ever eaten.
I'm Vietnamese. The good "Bo kho" usually doesn't add that much oil. It mostly would leave people sick feelings after eating it. So watch out the amount of oil before you make it.
You released this video an hour ago and have over 300 views and 37 comments! When I first saw it was released only an hour ago, I thought I would be the first view and the first comment.
Hi Mark. A great video as we always expect from you. I have a question: Have you considered the option of exploring other regional cuisines aside from asian regional dishes? With all respect, your follower, Carlos Julian.
Dipping the baguette in there would be delicious! I can hear the television in the background LOL. So loud. It's one of those plays back then kind of like Chinese operas.
This is Food Channel, not a Vegetarian Health Food Channel, want to eat health go cook your Shit at home. Every country has it's own culture of foods. Thanks for showing mark, keep it coming man!!!
Mark, you have to try Thịt bò nướng lá lốt (aka bò lá lốt), it is beef wrapped in betel leaves and grilled on a stick, and can be eaten plain or served with some thin bun (noodles). I think it smells amazing!!
Oh god lol let me try with my Saigon accent... I suck at finding examples. Thịt - tit (to make it appropriate, think tit for tat) bò - bo (as in borrow) nướng - I really can't think of anything for this one at the moment.... scratches head* lá - the "á" is pronounced similarly to the "a" in the exclamation "ack!" lốt - like "lock" but said with the tone of a question, and the hard "K" sound is silent. Although I suppose you don't even need to say the whole thing; bò lá lốt works perfectly fine.
I’m in Saigon. I’ve been sort of struggling to figure out how to find egg noodles… I usually get it with bread bc, although I like rice noodles, I prefer the Hồng Kông wheat/egg noodles (mì?) When I lived in Thailand it was easier for me to sub noodles, but I’m finding it more difficult here 🍜
You are a good sport Mark. Have you ever had Perpetual stew? It's said that a restaurant in Bangkok serves a soup from a broth that has been cooking for 45 years and is replenished a bit every day. I don't know the name of the restaurant so you will have to find it. I hope to see your review on that soon.
Hey Mark! I was wondering, do you always finish your food when you eat out? If not, do those who own the restaurant seem to get offended when you don't? Just wondering! Love your vids.
This is different from normal bo ko, greesy version or new one, i never seen it yet but i do love bo ko, u can eat in variety ways, bun, thin or thick rice noodle, or france bread lik we this one too.
your stew was more fatty due to the french baguette combo. you use the baguette to soak up the fat. had you ordered it with pho or mi (egg noddle). then they would have skimmed the fat off for you.
How do stay thin with all the carbs you eat Mark? Do you do lots of exercise, don't eat a lot the rest of the day, or are you just lucky? I would get so fat! I wouldn't be able to stop eating if I travelled from eating spot to eating spot! ;)
I love your videos man! I love how u put so much chilli in everything you eat and eat it like a boss hahaha and that reaction you do every bite haha the *orgasm* thanks for visiting my mother country! suscribed
a good bo kho should have hints of lemongrass, cinnamon, star anise and just a touch of heat from chilli. I like mine with tripe in addition to the beef shank which has been braised under it's fall apart tender
to eat this better you should dip the bread into the stew. if you order Bo kho with banhmi, they will serve you a dish with more oil on top than the version with Pho, so it can easily cover your banhmi. anyway you eat a lot of chilies don't you :)) in every video :))
It shouldn't be this greasy. What you do after the stew is cooked is, you leave the stew to cool down then the fat and grease comes to the surface. You then scoop up all the fat and grease out of the stew.

Spot on. Some people are full of shiet.
I dont think theres lot of mcdonalds in vietnam even if they have it(im viet living in us) i dont think he eats there
It's greasy because you supose to dip the bread into it
Lol mark lives in thailand... I don't think he eats McDonald's haha.
Best dipping sauce ever!
Why you did not dip the bread into the beef stew?
akathetruthteller
dip for french only? you really don't have a sense of innovative.
Thomas Mon I was thinking the same thing! :-)
Thomas Mon I agree to an extent. I don't know how easily one would find mozzerella bread in around as the cheese would be a bit mor italiano. but a piece of bread is about as old as recorded history from what I have seen. Thomas Mon it tastes really good with bread.
Thomas Mon : Why no staff help him to dip bread into the bowl
YOU WERE BEING KIND..I DON'T THINK YOU LIKED IT TOO MUCH
I find it strangely satisfying watching you eat, Mark. Maybe it's the awesome facial expressions you make after each bite lol. I guess I just like watching people enjoy eating their food. The people seemed so nice and just loved watching this, thank you for sharing!
That stew looks like the most amazing type of Beef stew you can possibly have, a great base for adding chilis!!
it so funny to watch the way in which Mark try to imitate the vendor lady!! thanks for sharing
Btw she did spoon way too much oil into ur bowl, it shouldnt look that oily. Glad u still enjoyed it haha
Nice mark, i love watching ur videos :).

I love Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, Japan... I love Asian People.
The way i eat this is put herb, chillis, lime and use the bread to dip in the sauce or broth, let the bread soak in the sauce then enjoy
To me, this is one of the best choices for breakfast. It's even more tasteful eating with "phở"
You are a very nice guy Mark.
my god they're playing cai luong in the background lol
All I heard was someone screaming "Meeeeeeee!!!" lmao.
Lol
All I heard was "meeeow"? music in the background
lomang lamang respect please

Thank you.
normally, beef stew in Viet Nam is not oily like this dish, and the fact that it is one of the most delicious dishes i have ever eaten
Thats funny. Im called Ut Nhung too, Ut bc im the youngest child and Nhung is my vietnamese name. Love ur vids Mark. Keep up the good work. I eat hot chili peppers w every meal as well. "Ngon hông?" "Ngon ngon... ngon ngon" it's so cute!
Looks delicious.
Thanks for sharing.

Mark, do you know any vietnamese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur that you would recommend?
Nicely done! Looks fantastic!
❤️👍
I'm Vietnamese. The good "Bo kho" usually doesn't add that much oil. It mostly would leave people sick feelings after eating it. So watch out the amount of oil before you make it.
It's amazing how it looks almost Hungarian (probably tastes nothing like gulyásleves though) - quite a few of the components match too.
If u dip the baguette into the soup u get a really satisfying taste and feeling
I've eaten many Pho Bo Kho, and that was definitely one of the oilier versions. Haha :)
You invented a new way to eat bread with beef stew =)
Omg that bread !! Looks delicious!!!
You released this video an hour ago and have over 300 views and 37 comments! When I first saw it was released only an hour ago, I thought I would be the first view and the first comment.
That looked really good. Nice vid.
Uuuuuh!! I can't look >.<
And the music behind is hilarious 😂😂 Ahaaha!
it's cai luong, a kind of traditional vietnamese music
oh really Deja Vu?? I didn't know :) Thanks a lot for the information!
Its so oily but looks delicious !! Keep it up !!
Mark Wiens you really should retry this dish by dipping the bread into the beef stew in order to enjoy it 100%
Served with French Vietnamese baguette? Sooo good.
This is Food Channel, not a Vegetarian Health Food Channel, want to eat health go cook your Shit at home. Every country has it's own culture of foods. Thanks for showing mark, keep it coming man!!!
Hey Mark! those banquets you suppose to dip them in the stew....
Hey Mark, can you get us a recipe for the french bread, can you put that on top of the list of recipes, PLEASE!!!
Your Vietnamese is very good :D
Mark, you have to try Thịt bò nướng lá lốt (aka bò lá lốt), it is beef wrapped in betel leaves and grilled on a stick, and can be eaten plain or served with some thin bun (noodles). I think it smells amazing!!
How do you even pronounce that lol? o_o
Oh god lol let me try with my Saigon accent... I suck at finding examples.
Thịt - tit (to make it appropriate, think tit for tat)
bò - bo (as in borrow)
nướng - I really can't think of anything for this one at the moment.... scratches head*
lá - the "á" is pronounced similarly to the "a" in the exclamation "ack!"
lốt - like "lock" but said with the tone of a question, and the hard "K" sound is silent.
Although I suppose you don't even need to say the whole thing; bò lá lốt works perfectly fine.
That actually made it a bit easier to pronounce, ha. Thanks!
***** it's pronounced as Tit Bor Nu-ong̣ (Nu and Nong quickly combined together) La (as in la la la) Low-k (as in Low but you add the "k" sound).
Tasty and delicious👍💯😋
I Love your vidios about japan (tokyo)
I’m in Saigon. I’ve been sort of struggling to figure out how to find egg noodles… I usually get it with bread bc, although I like rice noodles, I prefer the Hồng Kông wheat/egg noodles (mì?)

Bo Kho is delicious, you gotta eat it if you haven’t

hot stew and baguette..... that's my kind of comfort food
This makes me miss vietnam!
Sốt Vang!?
Love Vietnamese beef stew! Been too long since I've had it. Like to dip the bread in it.
wonderful colour, really want to have a bowl too.
Mark i know this video is old but you can pronounce vietnamese pretty good.
we want the pho bo mark, where is it?? :)
your stew was more fatty due to the french baguette combo. you use the baguette to soak up the fat. had you ordered it with pho or mi (egg noddle). then they would have skimmed the fat off for you.
You sounded like a crow when you said the dishes name. LOL. Looked tasty.
Still have a hard time using chopsticks. Looks so easy when you use them
After you fill the bread, you are supposed to dip it in the stew or pour it over the bread
yummy! Thanks Mark!
The bread is for dipping into the broth and soak up the flavor!
Looks delicious 😍
I'm a vietnamese person and when I eat bo kho your suppose to dip your French baguette, then eat it all together.
Looks good and delicious! Pho Bo Kho!!~~~ I like Bread with dipping sauce!~ Hey! Taste good??
You should try durian. I like your videos
I am vietnamese.....Bo Kho is my favorite Mark Wiens
How do stay thin with all the carbs you eat Mark? Do you do lots of exercise, don't eat a lot the rest of the day, or are you just lucky? I would get so fat! I wouldn't be able to stop eating if I travelled from eating spot to eating spot! ;)
Is that the bread you use for banh mi?
yeah, i/we use it to make "Bánh mì".
Looks amazing !!
Bo Kho with steam rice 👍👍👍👍👍
That looks like ketchupy goop lmao. WHERE MY SHIRT I WAITING STILL
Its oily but its delicious. It really depends on the chef too... Not all viet beef stew is oily
I love your videos man! I love how u put so much chilli in everything you eat and eat it like a boss hahaha and that reaction you do every bite haha the *orgasm* thanks for visiting my mother country! suscribed
Have u tried goat soup with bread?
My god, that looks heavenly. Jealous
a good bo kho should have hints of lemongrass, cinnamon, star anise and just a touch of heat from chilli. I like mine with tripe in addition to the beef shank which has been braised under it's fall apart tender
Mark, don't you ever get tired of soup?
that bun was to big for him to roll his head while foodoragasming rofl!
we looooveeeeeee stew!!!!!!!!!!!! some advise??
It is very oily because it's cashew oil which give the stew a bright red color. Don't worry its not the beef fat x)
mmm yum, i'm going to go get some right now :)
if the stew is sooo oily why are you still eating it leave the damn table and run !!!
wow looks fab!
where u from
to eat this better you should dip the bread into the stew.
if you order Bo kho with banhmi, they will serve you a dish with more oil on top than the version with Pho, so it can easily cover your banhmi.
anyway you eat a lot of chilies don't you :)) in every video :))
It is oily but that is why you have the bread.
And get a small side dipping dish and mix it with salt and pepper and lime
I like the part where you bit off a section of the herb.
It shouldn't be this greasy. What you do after the stew is cooked is, you leave the stew to cool down then the fat and grease comes to the surface. You then scoop up all the fat and grease out of the stew.
i don't think Mark finished the oily soup
TI wish I could go back to Vietnam
You gotta dip the bread Mark! Lol
He eaten very super spicy 😝😝
I'm from Vietnam
The recipe please...
