    Just returned home from the local Ducati dealer. All I can say is 'WOW'!!! Pictures/videos don't do this beautiful machine justice... You have to see one in person to truly appreciate its magnificence! I was blown away to be honest (no I don't work for Ducati... wish I did!). The BMW R1200 GS is now out of the equasion. The MTS GT is the bike for me. Bring on spring!!! ;)

      GrandpaBambu I notced in the EICMA video, the clutch cover doesn't have the Testastretta 11° designation. Do the 2015's not have the Testastretta 11° engine. They may just call it the DVT...

    Hey dude, I remember seeing your bike on display in the front window at GP. I ended up buying a grey GT at the end of April. What day did you buy yours?

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought it in November last year. They stored it for me and brought it back in the Ducati display section in Mid April. :). Congrats on your purchase man!!

    Amazing machine and it effortlessly doubles the speed limit and then some. That is one of the reasons why I traded my '13 Granturismo in on a Harley. Otherwise I wouldn't have my license today or would probably be dead by now. I couldn't imagine 16 hours in the stock seat, my ass was numb after an hour! I always left mine in sport cause it was such a rush and I liked the suspension on the softest setting for cruising, soaks up the bumps like riding on a cloud ... too bad the stock seat didn't feel the same, lol. I know exactly how hard it is to resist twisting it so stay safe and enjoy .... I miss mine, fastest bike I ever had.

      @docmanrides  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Brian Zaborowski Thanks for the comment Brian. I just can't seem to get enough of this bike. It's funny because I traded a Harley for it LOL. Cheers and stay safe!!

      @brianzaborowski2724 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha, I did the same exact thing when I got my Duc. I got rid of a perfectly good '11 Road Glide Ultra for it ... then I traded the Duc for a '14 Ultra Limited less than a year later.

    Thanks for a great review, docman! I'm planning on buying an adventure touring bike next spring and the Ducati Multi is definitely a contender. Have you ridden it in the rain? What's the weather protection like? I'm also looking at the BMW R1200GSA and KTM 1190. Would also consider the Aprilia Caponord but there are no dealers near my home - I'm very close to GP Bikes and visit there often.

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David, thanks for stopping in. I just came back from a 2600 km trip with the Multi. I rode in torrential rain falls for hours last weekend and the bike was totally awesome and performed flawlessly. Traction control, abs and skyhook suspension kept me solid on the road. Rain protection is very good and the bags are all water tight. I highly recommend for you to try it out at Gp's and make your decision from there, they are all good bikes but for me the Ducati is a match made in heaven. Good luck on your quest!

    Hi Docman1- really enjoyed your video. You say that in sports mode it will lift up in the 1st 3 gears. I don't have that impression with mine and want to make sure it has not lost any of its power due to a technical problem. Obviously I feel the fork go up, but not the front wheel. Do you accelerate all the way in each gear to feel that? Thx for helping me figure this out!

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Casey and thanks for your support. To answer your question, I don't think that your bike as lost any power over time. When in sports mode with the Ducati Traction Control turned off, your bike becomes a different beast and that's when the wheel takes flight. But you need to be very careful not to lose the bike. DTC is what is keeping your front end down. I hope this helps. Cheers

    Nice review, crisp editing to chop out the unneeded stuff. Love your ride, beast in Italian clothing. .. Oh the sound is so classically beautiful, One of the best made bikes imo, love the fact that the Ducati Multistrada and the KTM 1190 Adventure are both so light.
    Sports bike in comfort ergos... Thats really my kind of bike. hoping to own a grandtourismo horse too someday ;)

    I like your comments about the lower seat. I'm 5'6" (also on a good day lol), and I've been using the standard seat the whole time because I heard that the lower seat is not as comfortable. Is there a noticeable difference between the two (besides the height)?

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say not much difference at all. My buddy has the stock seat and gets up once in a while to relieve the pressure lol. I really like my lower seat. Hope that helps. ;)

    Hey Doc... long time no talk. Sorry that I didn't get the chance to stop by on the way to Montreal at the end of May... How's the Multistrada GT running? Mine has had a few issues. One ongoing. Just starting to get really comfortable on the bike. Crazy weather we are having huh? I'm still riding!!! I can pick-and-choose the days to ride. Retirement has it's perks! ;)

      +GrandpaBambu Hey Grandpa no worries my friend. No my bike runs great, i'm sure they will iron out all the small issues. Totally normal for a new engine, all the makes have the same little problems in the first year of production. I wish you Happy Holiday's to you and your family.. :)

    Still have mine, great bike. Put a Sargent Seat on mine and the butt pain is totally gone now. 500 mile days are now easy. The bike will actually carry more stuff than my BMW RT. Plus when it’s carrying that touring stuff it carries it better than the RT. I put on a throttle lock cruise control on the bar end and it is good for long droning rides now. I’m going to add electronic cruise this year. Build quality is ok but the BMW is better. The RT fairing is better but this bike is way good on dirt rocky roads. Not GS good but good enough.

    Is the Ducati GPS a factory option, or is it a dealer accessory? Is it remotely operated like BMW's Navigator 5? What is the price tag? Thanks Doc...

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I payed about $800 with all the works installed. It's a dealer option and not remotely operated. Waterproof, glove friendly, lifetime updates, bluetooth etc.. Really like it

    • @Ducati_Dude
      @Ducati_Dude 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** Going to have one installed on the '15. Yeah, didn't think it was remotely controlled. Wanted to be sure though... Thanks much for answering 'all' of my questions. Much appreciated!

    docmanrides1, would you comment on the display?
    How is it lit at night?
    Are there issues with angle of view or using polarized eyewear?
    Many thanks,
    Wm

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Display is excellent at night, it has 3 settings of backlight: Low, Med and High. I keep mine on low and the illumination is perfect even with a tinted shield. During the day even with massive sunlight hitting the Display I had no problems seeing it at all. Polarized eyewear are no problem at all. Hope this helps. :)

  • @fellipesombrachrist

    Hi docmanrides1, I'm thinking about buying one of these what are your thought comparing this bike to the BMW R 1200 GS?

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Fellipe! I love both the Ducati and the BMW. I believe that the GS has more edge off road and the Ducati shines in cornering at higher speeds on road. It truly depends on what you want to do. So if you are looking for more off road adventure type rides I would buy the BMW. But if you like sport touring in the mountains and love great acceleration like me, you will not regret the Multistrada. Hope this helps. Ride hard, Ride safe :)

    • @fellipesombrachrist
      @fellipesombrachrist 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man, that was a good answer.

    • @Ducati_Dude
      @Ducati_Dude 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking this question Fellipe. I too am torn between the Multistrada and R1200 GS. I ruled out the 2014 Duc as there is no cruise control. CC is a 'must have' for me. So I decided on a 2015 BMW R1200 GS (still haven't plunked down any coin yet tho). Wait... stop the presses! 2015 Multistrada has cruise control. Very seriously considering the 2015 Multistrada... Going to visit a Ducati shop this week. Hopefully will get a demo ride...

    How much weight can you put in the sitecases ? #And how fast can you drive without getting disrupted by them ?

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ducati recommends 10kg per bag at 180 km/h. But I had a little more on my last trip with all my camera gear. I went to speeds up to 225 km/h with no disruptions at all. 👍

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Napas Meehan Maintenance cost are not that bad, considering that you change the oils every 12000kms. Your looking at about $250 to $300 dollars depending on where you live. The big one is at 24000Kms for the valve check at about $900. It's a Ducati. Cheers

  • @lkazanov

    Great review....where's the cruise control? Every bike in this class seems to have it. They have ABS, throttle by wire, should be an easy add on.

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree. A cruise control should be part of the bike. I spoke with my dealer and they said that Ducati was working on that. Usually they listen to their clients. We should have a cruise control update in the very near future. Thanks for watching. :)

    Is 26,000 miles a lot for this?

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  ปีที่แล้ว

      The short answer is "it depends" on a few things to consider. Was the maintenance done as prescribed by Ducati, these things have a desmo service to be done every 12000 miles at about $800. What kind of riding did the previous owner do? Street or Adventure riding is another consideration to look at. This will determine how much money you will need to drop on it in the near future. These things are very expensive to maintain and if it was me and with what I know now, I would pass at that milage. But that is just my opinion. I hope this helps you make a sound decision. Thank you for the question and have a wonderful day. 👍

    Ducati has dropped the 'Granturismo' designation for 2015... We have a choice of the MTS 1200, or the MTS 1200 S.

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wondering about that. That's to bad because I really enjoy the options on the GT trim. Perhaps you can add to the s model if you want to tour with a pillion. Hmmm thanks for sharing.

    • @Ducati_Dude
      @Ducati_Dude 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** Yes, we now have to choose the 1200 S, and then add the accessories individually. Silly way of going about it IMO! Yeah, I thought that the GT trim level was a great 'simple' way of getting an all decked-out touring bike. BMW does the same with the GS. You have to 'individually' select the accessories that you want. I thought Ducati was 'thinking' a bit when I saw the Granturismo trim level on the 2014 model year.

    • @Ducati_Dude
      @Ducati_Dude 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, there are accessory 'bundles', but if you don't want 'all' the items in a particular bundle you would probably want to order what you want individually.

    You said Testastreta eleven?Lool mine is the 13" model and is the testastreta 2.. They progress pretty fast that engine in Ducati..hahaha

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya it looks like a number 2. But it is in fact 11 for the degrees on inclination of the cylinders. Check it out here. m.ducati.com/bikes/multistrada/1200/tech_spec.do

    • @Miata822
      @Miata822 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's 11. If you look closely you will see a little degree symbol°. this referees to the 11° valve overlap in this version of the 1198 engine. the superbike version of the engine has 30° more overlap. While that makes more power at top RPM it isn't very rideable on the street, lacking any kind of midrange torque.

      Actually, one thing I couldn't find in the manual that I hope you have the answer. For each settings (Sport and Touring) you can have the 100 or 150hp..that no problem. But then, you can switch between High or Low...do you know what's that for?

    • @docmanrides
      @docmanrides  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The 150hp low gives you a very tame power band. The 150hp high gives you all of the engines power and is very aggressive. I usually stay in 150 low. Hope this helps.

    Lol... When you talked about the guy in Australia... I was not impressed... Is not to brag, but I drove with my Pikes Peak with my nephew in the back, and the 3 panniers, from Portugal to Italy, straight in 23 hours... ahahahaha... we are talking about 2200 KM ( 1400 miles)... we just stoped to put gas, eat something, to pee... In pure December... ahahaha... -2 Degrees ( 28 Fahrenheit). We had crazy fun because it was a rush... I have part of that ride on my youtube... ahahhaha...

    I have a love hate relationship with mine! Multi gt 2013
    Just done 2500 miles around Spain and France , great bike let down by .....still poor electrics! Not the suspension as that's German !
    The dash needs replacing after going mad! New heated grips after they failed and new starter button as that stuck as well, I am anal when it comes to cleaning and maintenance so I know it's not due to care!
