Great video again, never thought I'd want to go to Africa but more it's looking promising. 2 questions. What was the temperature when you were there? And what's the process of getting trophy mounts imported back to the US?
End of August was 50 in morning and 85 in afternoon. Can have it dipped and sent back for taxidermy or can have it done there and shipped back. Price comes out to close to the same
Great video just one question how did you get your suppressor out of the country with getting in trouble I've heard you have to have paperwork from the state department I order to travel out side the US was just wondering
Nope. I did a video on all the details. Long story short I just had my tax stamp paperwork with me then had form 4457 with me in order to bring it back duty free
Dude - great videos. U should load 140 sierra game changer bullets with h430 , 41.3 grains of powder about 50 thousand off the lanze - u will be impressed
I'll admit, just because of the negative chatter I thought poorly of the 6.5 CM. At some point WTW was talking about velocity and weight, and it occurred to me the energy was better than a bunch of other rounds that people say are plenty good for deer. Now I think a bunch of bad shooters jumped on the CM train, thinking it would be a shortcut to success. I like to think I'm impervious to hype, but I"m eating crow on this issue.
Ho ho ho.....wait a minute. This cannot be true......I thought that the 6.5CM bounced off deer and antelope......Great video hoss.....you've come a very long way. Proud of you brother...be blessed.
The video quality on your Africa Hunt is outstanding, I'm not sure how you will feel when your back to reality and self filming. I was one of those 6.5 Creedmoor haters then I won one in a raffle, call me converted. Pleasure to shoot, accurate it does have limitations for hunting but so do most cartridges. I wouldn't want to use it on Moose or Brown Bear but then I don't want to use 338 Lapua on deer either.
Hey man, when you harvest those animals do you keep the meat ? Or is it for the trophy? I did some work for some taxidermist when I was younger, sometimes it was the hides and heads and sometimes they would have whole animals frozen. Thank you for your patience and understanding in advance

What amazed me about Africa is how much game occupies the same land..so much diversity of animal species...they all seem to occupy a certain nitch , feed on different plants..
That's exactly right. We have about 18 species you can hunt in that area. Some are browsers, some are grazers, some are both. And like you mention, different animals consume different plants within those broad categories.

@@ottokittel709 I hunt bear, deer, and elk with eld-ms every year. They work incredibly well. I also know several guys who hunt elk with 22 and 6 creedmoor using eld-ms. @bobbyhutton3004 they can advise all they want, they still wouldn't know what they're talking about. Wildebeest, elk, etc aren't magical animals. 6.5 is a great round, but I'm slightly puzzled by you using it. As I understand it, the main virtue of the 6.5 is its capability at longer ranges. Not that it isn't effective close-up, but wouldn't something else be more typical for this style of hunting?
The 6.5 CM did the job despite the naysayers claiming it is not powerful enough. The Savage and scope are a nice rig. Congrats on the nice Impala and enjoy there rest of the safari.

Too many 6.5CMs out there for it to be forgotten anytime soon so I would not worry about that too much, it has been a very popular cartridge for quite some time now. If you shoot inside of 300 yards the 308 is just as good when you start getting out beyond that the 6.5s really begin to shine although if I were hunting something other than paper or gongs at 450 yards or more I would probably go with the 6.5 PRC, yeah the CM technically packs 1,000 ft/lbs out to 700 with the right bullets but I like a little extra energy. If you are a one gun guy, and you live in elk country I would go with a 30 cal, not that the 6.5mm won't do the trick, clearly it will but it's ideal game is in the whitetail/pronghorn class and won't compete with a 180-200gr 30 cal on that larger game IMHO.
