This album feels like what metal will sound like in 100 years from now.
I get it. This is more a joke. But a 100 years from now? No. What will be happening in 100 years is not a thing we can even pretend to know. Just look at how much things have changed in the last 10 years.
Overproduced and heavy for the sake of being heavy? Don’t spare me.

Music is subjective, and many people -- including myself -- don't consider this overproduced or heavy for the sake of "being heavy" in a bad regard whatsoever. You should learn to not push your shitty negative opinions onto others, though.

This album definitely requires a couple listens to fully grasp. After more listens, Pleasures-Virtual Function became my favorite section of the album. It’s definitely lengthy but I think after enough time with each song there’s enough interesting parts to keep things interesting.

I totally get why people don’t like Darko but man it just does something for me.
I hope Darko keeps going and going. Shit's wild. Remember gang, if groups don't do weird shit like this that might be borderline un-enjoyable for some people, other groups now/down the line wouldn't have diverse/experimental stuff to pick through and expand upon any small cool/new/unique concepts/sounds that otherwise wouldn't have been discovered. It's a cycle. Get influenced/inspired, conceptualize, execute, learn, repeat. Double kick was a dumb idea at first because it was a new idea, like most things, but now it's a cornerstone of genres (with an 's').
I think Darko is well aware they can easily make a traditional song, most people can, it really isn't hard. Darko has passages of that type of stuff just so they can pull you off course. Stop listening to the songs like "songs" and follow the motion of the moves they're making with their decisions of when/where/why they're switching it up yet again.

Not weird at all - they're very unique and pretty much have their OWN style of music that no one else is making at this point. It's way up there for me as well, between this and Boundaries imo

Starfire is AOTY for me it just blew my mind with how insane it is, it beat Half Living Things for me as AOTY. I just fucking love it 10/10 a masterpiece. There will never be another album like this one unless Darko one ups this album since they're already working on new music

Idk why but to me somehow darko just makes easily digestible music. Like its heavy af and random noises but it just works and sounds so good. And im a tom vocal fanboy so that helps
This is definitely one of those albums that gets better and makes more sense with multiple listens. Darko is so chaotic your brain needs a warm up lap before it's ready and your fight or flight is turned off.

Album of The Year
This album is the only thing I've been listening to since it dropped
We have both the same reactions hearing 5D haha.
This and Boundaires are my AOTY contenders in the core scene along with Knocked Loose and Enterprise Earth.
Outside of Core, I’d recommend Volcandra (blackened death), infant island (blckgaze), zombieshark (Cybergrind), frail body (post hardcore, screamo), inter arma (psychedelic sludge), glassing (post-metal, gaze), thou (post-metal).
Curiously enough, the album was failing to get me with the first couple of songs, but then ever since Cry Baby, that's where the album really hooked me in until the end. Honestly, this and DC's Angel Killer Zero are my two favorite albums from this year so far.
Please check out Saving Vice, their new album called "Good days, dead eyes". They're one of my favorites and imo all their songs are absolute bangers.

Album started out as a 6 or a weak 7/10 but it very quickly became my favorite with repeat listening, there's so much to catch that you really can't pick out the first or second time you listen to the album and there's so much shit they've done really well.
Sora is incredible and kind of feels like they've just mastered a different genre by accident
Virtual Function is incredible despite me not liking the feature on it, I'm just a huge sucker for strings in heavy music and they've executed that ending so well
The album came in with 2 of their best singles and at this point I don't even listen to them as much anymore because of the newer stuff
If you throw out the 16s track, Mother which is purely an album thing and Cry Baby which so far just hasn't clicked for me this is a 9.5 Album for me

I fucking love Darko. This was my favorite slbum of the year so far. I think their have been some better ones, but for pure enjoyment, this one is my favorite.
i personally like the softer tracks a lot more than the heavy ones, the heavy ones dont feel too different than anything theyve already made apart from some of the production/sound choices but a very solid album indeed i like how there is a lot of variety. 7.5/10 as a full album for me but 5D is just something SPECIAL thats easily the best song of the album

This album is so ass, and at the same time, is so goated; Darko is something, thats the only way to describe it
I didn't listen to the album on my own, just this cut up version and I STILL got fatigued half way in. Almost everything here is stellar, but there's TOO MUCH of it, to the point where some songs lose identity and clarity by the 13th fucking switch up and you realize the song has 3 minutes left. Exaggerating and maybe its a cleaner experience in full, but still. Just let me breath man holy fuck lmao. Also the chat did mention the samey guitar and when some cool shit is going on in the background you just sometimes blank them out because its just in the way. light 6 to a strong 10

it sounds like an OST to something and its super disjointed. I like it overall but they need to cut the fat out and focus their sound. They make some BANGER softer music. Sora was fucking incredible.

19 tracks and nearly an hour and 15 minutes is too much. Plus a decent amount of the tracks are kind of forgettable. There are some bangers on the record but as a whole, it didn’t hit as hard as most stuff from Darko does.
Edit: After listening to the album a few more times I’m noticing that most songs are really good it’s just the overall experience of listening to the album as a whole seems borderline unenjoyable to me.
I feel that, once they did Donna (which is great) and especially after doing Coming Home, it just feels like they switch between their usual style which is hit or miss for me and these softer songs.
Sora for example, I really enjoy the chorus but not much else, the lyrics are so generic and bland for me....
i can not stand this band's sound. definitely one of the popular bands that i just do not understand the appeal. it's so overproduced and annoying. they're just mashing shit together trying to sound are different as possible and it just sounds like computerized nothing. there's no memorable hooks or interesting riffs. it's just djent djent djent, spastic electronics, and boring deathcore vox. and why is this over an hour? it's SO self indulgent
