Mark Fydrich was a fan favorite, he was everywhere commercials, sports illustrated and even dynamite magazine.
Bird mania helped Ron Leflore and Rusty Staub make the all-star team as starters.
The Bird was a free spirit unfortunate his career and life were cut short. RIP

Such a character, that Bird! Great memories there.

Gotta love the air brush on the Reggie card.

Indeed. I suppose Topps just couldn't bring themselves to release that Orioles card and NOT show Reggie as a Yank.

Love the 70s and 1977 was a special year for me as it was my first in Los Angeles, where I became a lifelong Dodgers fan! FYI - you pronounced
Mark (Fid-Rich) Fidrych’s name wrong (don’t mean to be a stickler, just giving a heads up!)

Appreciate the heads-up. We're a team effort, and part of the team is having fun learning all the various and sundry ... and colorful ... athlete names!

A cool parallel set to the 77 topps is the O Pee Chee set. After I put a NM 77 set together I started collecting the O Pee Chee set only 264 cards. Almost identical to the topps but with a later release date and many variations, with many of the Blue Jays getting their own cards in actual Blue Jays uniforms not the air brush jobs of the Topps set. Many of the Expos have different pictures also (Carter, Perez and Dick Williams).

That's very cool. Orange gum, too!

Love these mid/late 70's sets! This was just a year before i arrived on Earth ! I'm trying to complete Brett and Yount's 70s card collection, just need a '79 Brett and a '75 and '77 Yount :)

You're a young buck, then! Compared to me, at least. You're getting close on your PCs there. The Brett should be pretty easy -- Yount maybe a little more challenging. Have fun, though! Thanks for watching!

How can you pronounce Bruce Sutter's name wrong? It's pronounced like Suiter.

You have to multiply WAR times 3 (relative to other positions) for closers because they are only involved in close games. They apply their “added wins” were they count the most.

That would make Mo Rivera more valuable than Cy Young or Walter Johnson. Not sure I'd make either of those trades.

You also mispronounced Mark Fidrych's card.

    Fidrych not Fredrich

I love your videos on baseball cards, I really do appreciate; however, you pronounce many names incorrectly and some info provided is incorrect. Nonetheless I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you.

I got the bird rookie card with a Beckett authentic autograph on back . Any thoughts on what it may be worth ?

Hard to say exactly, but this front-signed PSA DNA sold on eBay in December. Probably represents a ceiling of sorts. ebay.us/qlbTSA
