That's really cool. Marshall Harrison uses a different approach, with the same sweeping physics of using your fingers-which is kind of the inevitable path, just developed by two different people. Abasi maybe saw Marshall doing it, or he just did it on his own too, like i said, not surprising that someone of Abasi's musical intelligence wouldn't think to combine both. Both people are innovative & amazing players!

Whoa. 0:45 The influence of african patterns is just So.Much.There.
Talk about cross-fertilization of musical languages and the importance of being exposed to different musical contexts, voices, musicians.
Totally dig Tosin Abasi's musical technique qhich IMHO is miles more sophisticated than other "pure" (as in non-influenced-by-other-cultures) shredders.
Currently my top fave along with Govan Guthrie and walking tall in the footsteps of prog luminaries such as Howe and Holdsworth....!

I've still yet to understand the appeal of Tosin whatsoever. His style just sounds so graceless, not to mention contrived. Also, just in case enough people haven't said so already, I think swybrid was Marshall Harrison's innovation; he puts the idea to much better use, at least to my ears.
