I have a great small sign that reads, "Don't tell my mess, a creative person lives here"
😮😮 the perfect sign!!
Scarlet, you do you! I work best in chaos…from chaos comes creativity and order! I used to be so embarrassed about the “mess” because others told me that I should;not anymore! I apologize for nothing when it comes to my creative space. Can’t wait to see what you do this year:)
I swear that because it looks so put away, the calmness isn’t chaotic enough 😂😂
Scarlett I laughed when you said you haven’t replaced that needle in two years …. Wow gal get your mileage worth….
We were always taught to change needles after every make or a few makes of same fiber …
And you yes a reorganizing can seem overwhelming sometimes but OMG 🎉 it feels so great once it done and adds some clarity sometimes… but do what works for your productive flow …. Your so awesome…
In my defence! I only sparadically use the machine for the zigzag zag stitch!!😂 thank you!✨
Looking forward to your creative talent again this year. I loved that kitty cat dress.
You are so creative. I love one of a kind creations. Remember to take time to recharge your physical and mental batteries. Your amazing.
Thank you!!💜
I love your Tiffany style cat lamp - so cute
I literally was like like OOOOOOOOOO, A CURL!!!!!❤❤❤
Hehe!😂
That blue dress is amazing! Good luck with the sort out and rearranging. It will be worth it in the end (now I sound like my 72 year old mother)
Thank you!!
I like your way you done to your sewing room and I like your post man pat top 😊❤
Thank youu!💜💜
Love your crochet sweater vest! Looking forward to your new videos this year-
You're helping motivate me to tidy up my sewing area! Also I really like that blue dress Scarlet! Can't wait to see what you do next!
Aww amazing! It does feel amazing once you’ve done it!
I’m so glad you are back and you are looking vibrant with all of your new ideas which I can’t wait to see. Have fun and enjoy ❤❤❤O and Happy 2025.
Hehe thank you!!💜💜
I can't wait to see what DIY projects you do this year.
I've just ordered 3 scrap bags! I need to destash alot of the scraps that I already have, but I also find that when I buy mystery scrap bags, I get really inspired by using fabric that I ordinarily wouldn't work with. It's great to be able to help you grow your buisness, as I love what you do. I had been wanting to buy one of your makes for a while but unfortunatly they are out of my price range and I can't justify buying it when I can buy your patterns and make my own. Hopefully I can use some of the fabric from the scrap bags I have ordered to make something using one of your patterns. :)
Thank you!!! That’s helped clear a chunk in my studio!🙌 yeah I get what you mean!!
Love your work. You are a real inspiration xx
Very Inspirational 💛 x
If your cutting table (and ironing table) is too low that will give you a back ache all the time. I hve found to adjust the height right about where your hip bones are against the table. Im 5'7" and I find my cutting table height is great at about 38". That little bit of height actually keeps you from leaning forward as your hips lean toward the edge and that gives you a much better support if you need to lean forward when cutting.
Yes definitely! I move the board to my cutting table and its sooo much easier for my back!!
Oh I can sew relate to the rearranging I do that several times a year. Right now I am trying to get a projector setup for patterns. I am at the point where I need to mount the projector on the ceiling over my large cutting table. I am currently making a pouf with a zip to store my scraps in a hidden way. But I tell myself I have to be back in focus at end of January wish me luck! 😅
Ohhh i’ve heard about these projectors, they sound really cool - let me know how it goes please!✨
The first of your videos I've seen. I LOVE your scrappy dresses - especially the blue one that's partly done. Getting my ideas flowing...
Thank you!! Aww good!✨
Happy new year ❤ from AUS
As always Beautiful
I have a lot/hate relationship with re-organizing for sure. It seems like I just have to re-arrange and then test it out for a few weeks but I usually end up re-arranging again. I also heard it's good for your brain because you're exercising your brain by putting things in new spots and it makes your brain work harder because it has the old spots memorized, but not the new ones. So it has to re-learn. It's also just good for a fresh feeling as someone who works mostly inside, I have to change my space up a lot in oder to keep myself from getting stir crazy! The sweater vest is so good btw.
Good for the brain, love that!! It’s like a little tetris game but with heavy furniture and machines 😂
Welcome 2025....looking forward to watching your creativity explode..be sure and film the process...hugs from 🇨🇦
Thank you! Happy New Year!🥳
Hey Scarlett, I have just uploaded a video of me tidying about 12 weeks ago and its a mess again!!! I have accumulated so much fabric I need to get rid of that I am never going to use. I have boxes for my boxes!!! 🤣I love the little curl and I used to do the Marcel waves with my Nan!🥰 I used to be a fan of a TV show called The House of Elliott set in the 1920's. ♥ Love the blue colours on the dress. Also I like the details on the cuffs of the shirt you are wearing.
Haha I swear if it’s not messy within a week, are you even a crafter?!😂 thank you!!
@@afrayed_upcycling 🤣thankyou for the permission to be messy and vindication of being a crafter🤣
Hi Scarlett, wishing you all the best in the new year! From my outside view your new set up seems pretty "stuffed", and the old one seemed a bit more airy, but I could be totally wrong. Maybe you'll need one or two attempts of trial and error to find your perfect temporary set up. I am excited on how you want to reduce your stash. On the one hand I am hoping to see a lot of sewing tutorials and business vlogs (that I really enjoy!) but I remember that you want to step a little back from that made to order topic etc. Perhaps just organizing your fabrics would "do the trick" and give you an overview of what you have, which color you're lacking and would also calm your brain because it looks neater. Just a thought I had. :) I had to get rid of a lot of fabrics and upcycle-stuff within a day (I threw/gave them away :( because I had to) and I was exhausted at the end of the day. So many things I kept and wanted to use later, but as I can't right now (timewise), they are just sitting here. So I had to decide what can go and could be replaced if I'd need it or what was not 100% to my liking. I still have a lot and I am looking forward to dive into my stash and actually create wonderful things again in future. xoxo from Germany - Stephanie
That’s exactly it! I spent a couple hours last night sorting my fabric and it does make a world of difference!😅 I do definitely need to sell A LOT!
@afrayed_upcycling Oh I'm curious to see the result in one of the next vlogs. 😍 Organized fabric shelves can look so amazing. 🤩 I'd love to take/buy some of your fabrics, believe me, but if I would do that, my boyfriend will probably send me to the psychologist or the anonymous fabric hoarders. 🤣 I would cherish those fabrics for a loooooong time remembering where they are coming from. And I do not have an excuse like needing them for business. No, they are just for me - for fun and my comfort. 🤭 I hope that you are not only selling your fabrics bit also use them. I would love that video content. xoxo Stephanie
Wow you are so productive.... LOVE the blue dress. You are right that having the sewing machines on an angle is better for work flow as you only have to rotate your chair....
Absolutely! I made an order and noticed I was having to stand to overlock, so i’ve put the machines back to the way they are 😂
The blue dress is really lovely! Hope you find the right arrangement for your workspace.
Thank you!✨💜
I have found that one work area must flow into the next area seamlessly. Good luck with your layout, but remember, sometimes a change is all you need and you may eventually go back to your original layout if it was working better for you. 🥰
That’s true! I’ve already moved bits about in the way I had them before 😂
Hi Scarlett, your machines in an L shape really inspired me to do the same. It’s so practical being able to swivel between the machines. Loving my Jack and Juki 😁
I put them back yesterday midday, the stress of trying to swivel to each part was too much! 😂🙌
Happy New Year 🎉
I have rearranged my artist studio many times, it's always a work in progress
It really is!!
@afrayed_upcycling I think part of being a creative is always wanting to refresh the space, I also get bored fast...lol
Happy New Year to you as well! Have you thought of using a program that helps you with your floorplan? That might be the way to go. For me, if I want to change the layout of a room because the current way isn't working, I sit and stare at the current situation and I measure the space and the furnishings, maybe make a drawing of the room and continue to work on it until I have found the perfect setup. The fact that you already moved some things around has helped you determine that you want the corner setup for your sewing machines. Maybe move your admin area to where your sewing machines are and move your sewing machines to where your admin was moved but now you can put them in the corner as you wanted. I love rearranging rooms to make it more streamlined. Good luck!
That is such a good idea because I used to measure and draw when I lived down South for my room!🥹 i do think i’ve worked out how i’m going to have it!✨
Seems I am always rearranging my sewing room- seems like I start a new project I have material every where- my tables are shifted then my chair is too low- or my plugs are in the wrong place- a constant chaos+ homely 2025 I’ll finish my large quilts and do smaller projects- anyway hope for me- love your show and your energy
Thank you! And yes! It’s an evolving space 😉✨
Love watching as always. Success in rethinking your studio.
I think I’ve cracked it…will reveal soon!😉
Love a good room revamp
Ohhhh sameee!😂
love your videos!
Happy New Year x
Happy New Year, hope you get your space sorted,it's important to feel comfortable in your space ,love the top your wearing did you make it yourself thanks for a great videoXXX❤❤❤XXX
Happy New Year! I actually think i’ve sorted it!! Will reveal soon! And it was a swap with a follower, I made her a dress and she made the vest for me!
Happy New Year Scarlett. Sometimes you have to change things round to see if it helps with working and productivity but you need to be comfortable. You can always rejig slightly. If you are happy with your machines like they were and it worked then put them back that way. Have you thought about having your cutting out table on wheels so that you can move as required. I used to make trade soft furnishings from my 3m square sewing cabin. I bought 2 x (2x8) cube Kallax units from ikea. Put the back to back. Added a top. Added a base with locking wheels. It really helped. As I'm tall my hubby made it higher for me so I wasn't stooping. Now my cabin is just for pleasurable sewing but I still have my table and occasionally have a move around and declutter to make it work better. You are very inspiring. Love your crochet Pat top, is it new?
Happy New Year!! Yes, I ended up putting it back yesterday midday because the new layout was stressing me out!😂 i live the idea of wheels, the only thing is I’m on the top floor of the whole and every movement can be heard from me 😂
@afrayed_upcycling you could always put the table on a large rug, it would definitely be quieter then. I know what you mean about noise though 😏
Love it 🎉as always!
About your studio what do think is your best investment? Not like sewing machine… something that you really use and make you always happy about bought it and you are always glad on have found it. 😊😊😊😊
Oh I love this question! I think my self-made ironing board! It’s the perfect size and moveable to save space! And of course I use it everyday ✨🙌
@afrayed_upcycling Ohhh good! If you taught yourself, please teach us! HAHAHAHA I use a lot of my foldable iron table but I always in the middle of the way and I hate it!😅😅😅😅😅
Happy New Year from the US!
I love your postman pat crochet sweater! Brings back memories. Did you make it yourself?
It’s a lovely story really! I saw the pattern for a kids version in jumper form on Ebay, I put a story up about it and one of my followers offered to do a swap! So I made her a dress, and she made the vest - it’s one my most treasured pieces 🥹💜
Hi Scarlette,
Can you include the link to your ebay store in your next video description for the bags of fabric scraps?
Thank you!!

Happy New Year
Happy new year ✨
Scarlet lovely to see you on TH-cam again. Good luck for 2025
Thank you! Exciting things to come!
Welcome back and Happy New Year 🎉 I'm excited to see what you have in store for us in 2025 :) ❤
Hehe can’t wait!✨
Why not putting a curtain from wall to wall to hide the mess behind. You can get another shelf like the ikea cubes ones and divide everything by color for example hide the furniture with a pressure pole curtains rods and then you have a backdrop easily. You can get those poles in the hardware store. It’s rent friendly cause you are not drilling anything in fact. but if the place is yours Just get an ikea pax in the near future. Theres places like online markets and second hand shops where you can get quite good second hand ikea.
I actually want a more simpler look, so I think the fabric cover would annoy me 😂 but ive spent the last 3 days working on the space and I’m a lot happier with it!
❤ Happy new year 😊
...did you really get it filmed, edited and published during one day? 😮 ...I have so much to learn 😂
set the machines on one corner. Then it is easier to switch. I also need to work on my sewing/filming space.....
Happy new year! And Yes! With Days in the life of, it’s really easy to mash together!😂✨
🎈👏🙂👍
Yup, Canada Post is working again so mail is flowing!
Yesss! 🙌
❤

Are you in the market to selling any of your fabrics on line? You look like you have some nice fabrics there. I would be interested in buy some. Drop me a line if you are in the mood of selling. Thank you
I am! I want to sell some kits too! Thinking of doing a big Vinted sell!
Girlfriend, really? 2 years??? I change needles with each project or 2. Needles get dull and it makes your machine have to work a lot harder.
In my defence, i have only used that machine a couple times a year for the zigzag for my labels!😂🙈
What's your eBay store/account name, please?
It’s here! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166551292745?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=T2AZp1YgRFS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=T2AZp1YgRFS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Your work area gave me anxiety 😢😢
It’s better now I promise!!
@afrayed_upcycling sorry..my 23 yr old daughter's room is messy so I have a lil PTSD from seeing such spaces 😆😆
Make an L with the two machines.
I’ve reverted them back that way 🙌
