He is so cute...I love the way he was nervous in the beginning and your energy and disposition calmed him down. At the end He was happy to be bathed a d trimmed and showed you how happy and grateful he was. 😊

I just adopted a Pekingese a few months ago so this video is a great help to me. I've been bathing and trimming his paws myself but wanted to take him to a groomer to get him looking his best and do what's best for his coat. I won't be cutting his coat short but this helps me know what to ask and what to mention to them in case they aren't as familiar with the breed. I've had trouble finding good videos about Pekingese grooming so I wanted to thank you for making this! Beautiful work on this adorable dog 🐶

Our pet groomers just told me about this ! I’m so happy she did when I was young we would always shave down our Pekingese ( unfortunately she passed away from unrelated causes) but her hair was so tick and course. I always wondered how she went from being a fluff ball to nothing

I cut mine all the way down he actually prefers it depending on the time of the year. I leave his tail fur and paws though 😂😂

My Pekingese loves his hair cut short..he just can't get enough Lovins when it's short...he's not like that when it's longer...

She really should... I've mentioned this site on Dede's comments. Dede needs to be more polished and use better sanitary techniques with her tools and station in her shop.
BUT SHAVING A DOG THATS NOT EVEN MATTED IS SO MUCH EASIER! Lmao I swear most of the dogs she does are just tangled, not even matted and she is all like "nope! Shave down! Too much work!" Also, all of the dogs she does, she just makes them so ugly. It's like she doesn't know how to do anything else.

My Peke, Flishy looks like this one. My other one is Black/Silver. They are my children. I give them lion-cuts and hipster buns. We live in Australia, it gets so hot here for them sometimes!!

Nice job!! Try turning your palm out sometimes while cutting to avoid carpal tunnel.

Both my Pekes have shorter, bowed legs but can still run like the wind when they're of a mind to. I bet this red one can really cover some distance with those LONG legs. :
can i ask why you never shave a pekingese? i just got a baby pekingese and he's ready for his first haircut as he is black and his long hair isn't great for a nyc humid summer so we were going to get him buzzed down so he can be nice and cool. why is shaving bad?

You did a great job. I love me some Red Pekingese. He was darling. But for real .....he went from a Peke to a Pug .....If people want a pug then get a pug. Personally I would never shave off my peke's fur.
Susan Reynolds I've never shaved any of the Pekes I've had but I'm really thinking about doing it to my boy. He gets so hot in the summer that he spends most of his time in the basement by himself where it's cooler.

They want a Pekingese and then they are too lazy to groom it daily. It doesn't take long and they look fabulous. My little girl gets a lot of compliments!
As a mom of a 13 year old Pek he has always had a shor hair cut and it has suited us just fine....
Me too , I been parenting 4 pekes in the past 25 years and always been fine with a short hair cut . Specially if the have full and dense coats , and you’re not planning to show them .

Wish more Peke parents were aware of this. Pekes should not be shaved without very sound reasons. Hard to find a groomer who will take the time to do it the right way.
My Peke has his full coat, which I personally groom every day -- scissoring the feet and just a bit of tidying up as needed. People always compliment how gorgeous he looks but many ask why he isn't shaved. I tell them if I wanted a short-haired dog, I would have adopted a short-haired dog. Grooming time is a great way to spend time with your pet.

Yeah you say never shave down your peak, but this lil beautiful peak seems to want his hair. I never shaved down my Pekingese miss her terribly but she got regular brushings

Why isn’t it good to shave down your Pekingese? I usually send my boys to the groomers and tell them to make short.
