Best Trivium song ever! I love all periods of this band right up until current day but the Shogun record just epitomized this band at its absolute zenith and this song in particular was simply sensational when I first heard it back in 2009! And it still is!
This song is a masterpiece in my opinion. The changes are unexpected and perfect for the song. If you listen to the whole album from start to finish, “Shogun” will make perfect sense. yeah, several motifs from earlier songs are present in Shogun that tie it all together. Bookends with Kirisute Gomen thematically and musically.
This is my favorite metal album. Whole album is a masterpiece from beginning to end, this being the last song.
