Contrary to the comments here, I’m afraid I agree with the Indian authorities. The law is the law, wherever you are you must follow the law. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, this is what’s practiced in the West. If the situation was reversed, if it was an Indian or another foreigner in the UK, do you think they’d let them go so easily if that law was in the UK, or if some other was law broken in the UK? I think she was expecting to be let off because she’s from the West traveling in some third world former colonial country. No one calls their Embassy on such matters. You resort to the embassy for far more serious issues, for instance espionage, murder, or if you’re some govt official etc. This is why the British Embassy said they couldn’t help her because they knew it wasn’t their jurisdiction. But she thought she would threaten the Indian authorities by calling the embassy. Such devices are often used by criminals and terrorists as they’re harder to trace due to signals not coming from cellphone towers but satellites. Well done the Indian authorities.
But I bet you would complain if Canada, whi does not allow milk products to be brought in, jailed Indians who routinely bring mithai which is against Canadian rules.

This is not a bizarre rule. Indian security agencies are wary of contacts with China and Pakistan and prefer communications take place via monitored channels. Satellite phones are very difficult to monitor. During the 26/11 attacks for example, satellite phones were used by the terrorists and their handlers to carry out the attack. I do feel bad for Heather but the media should try to understand the security context in which these rules are formulated instead of labeling them as 'bizarre'.

I think you’re from Pakistan that’s why you saying it’s innocent mistake if you do same mistake in England they do the same thing law is same for everybody it doesn’t matter British or American or Indian
Stop harassing the travellers to india as thry have already redeuced so much recently and india needs them. If its a honest mistake, just keep the phone and give it back to her when she is leaving.
Release her and forgive her she didn’t know the rule but if India has harsh rules then don’t complain if British government will become more harsher to Indians coming into uk 🇬🇧
I don't believe she is inocent she will get high prize in india not given water? British means not vip what happens indian citizens in Britain they have to deel thousands every day they are also humans wherever you go respect the rule of the land
Why should she need a satellite phone travelling to India. India provides the cheapest WiFi in the world. 😅. I'm travelling northern parts of India ( Sikkim/Darjeeling) for 3 weeks in March. It's all fake stories narrated by her to get sympathy/attention.
At first I felt sorry for this lady. However, by going massive on media she lost my support. I can understand why the Indian police were so thorough with what appears 'little thing' at first sight. Satellite phones too are used by T3rr0rists from across the border. Aside from all this, she had just one unit on her? If she is with a group then the rest would have also carried one on each or she would have a full set on her. I would have expected at least 1 or 2 from the rest to have been caught at this or other airports in India. But nothing. She is lucky this was in India. Had this occured in one of the Middle Eastern countries, she would be behind bars for a long time.
Indians try to bring all kind of food items that are banned in countries like Canada and the U.S. instead of jailing them, they just ask them to throw it away. Maybe next time they should arrest and jail them. By the way, satellite phones are not a big deal in most countries and are very common.

Yeah it's pointless except for the multiple instances where satellite phones have been found among Myanmarese and Pakistani anti-state agents during attacks. The 26/11 terrorist attacks were also carried out using satellite phones.
@@karanjain5663 And only India out of the whole world is in “danger” of terrorist attacks. Ridiculous.
@karanjain5663 Well said. Those criticising have an imperialistic mindset.
@@d.p.4399 thank you. I can understand the inconvenience caused but given the circumstances, the traveler was cleared within a day and that is certainly reasonable. I think it was an honest misunderstanding but security at international points of entry cannot be compromised.
What was the need to carry this device? Innocent but unnecessarily over equipped. Laws are also so old 1933, but security could still pick up, wow
Follow rules please please

Pani is liye nahi pine dete k yein apne aap ko kuch kar na le...pani mein kuch bhi mila k pih na le yein normal arrest mein bhi karte hain.or police kisi k ghar ka pani nahi piti jab tak unhe unka pta na ho.
Satelite Mobile Phone, Satelite Internet Device in India are Allowed only for Merchant Ship,Indian Forces. Civilian are not allowed to use Satelite Mobile Phone, Satelite Internet Device because Security of India is Compromised by Satelite Phone & Internet.
to hum kaise jaane ki kis desh me kya lena ban he
No wonder India's touristic cities are empty nowadays.
It's OK to be safe than having dangerous tourist ❤
Good video sir
Very good 👍 show
Thank you very much
India has some stupid colonial laws . According to that law, whoever fly kites on makarsankanti, can be arrested for vioalting aviation act by not taking permission from police ...
Little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Such stunts will lead to amendment of telegraph act of the british era
Do you think she is a normal passenger. It’s wrong she is for sure an agent from uk or usa
I think you’re from Pakistan that’s why you saying it’s innocent mistake if you do same mistake in England they do the same thing law is same for everybody it doesn’t matter British or American or Indian
Oh arrest nhi gota wo seize hota hai, baaki bande ko shod diya jaata hai 😂
Like all Indians knew this law* I never knew this, the intention was probably something else 😍 loocha lok.
Very knowledgeable information
These satellite phone found using in Kerala, foreigners must be selling this gadgets in india.
Stop harassing the travellers to india as thry have already redeuced so much recently and india needs them. If its a honest mistake, just keep the phone and give it back to her when she is leaving.
This lady knew the satellite phone is banned in India for foreign visitor. She should be interrogated.
Release her and forgive her she didn’t know the rule but if India has harsh rules then don’t complain if British government will become more harsher to Indians coming into uk 🇬🇧
None knows. WTH. We use this in US many times hiking.
Why arrested. Just don’t allow to carry the phone. What is the big deal?
Everyone knows who's using satellite phones
Being an European and a German I understand you more than many Asians.😂😂
U r again and again saying this is an "innocent" mistake, she doesnt seem 2b that innocent
Bahut garbar karte hai yeh gore sattelite phone se , neoal border manipur aur chhattisgarh mein isliye use defend naa karo.
NOTICE HOW THE FERANGIS ALWAYS LIKE TO FLIRT WITH INDIAN FLIGHT MEN SO DESPARATE
Indians try to bring all kind of food items that are banned in countries like Canada and the U.S. instead of jailing them, they just ask them to throw it away. Maybe next time they should arrest and jail them.
By the way, satellite phones are not a big deal in most countries and are very common.
