    Emma, You are so lovely. I could watch you sew for hours. Do what you can, do what you love and brings you joy. You have definitely encouraged me to get on with some of my many projects that have been on hold for too long. I find for myself often times the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. We have to protect our peace and take care of ourselves. Much love, X

    You have such a sweet spirit it makes you such a joy to sit with while I have my morning coffee. I do my morning Bible studies then I listen to you. I’m 68 and my maternal grandma did some paper piecing with newspaper she cut out and sewed by hand. In my early 20’s quilting was a dying art but with the only one book from the library I taught myself to piece by hand. Years later I learned on the machine but like you my love is working by hand. May God bless you and the work of your hands, love from Texas USA 💖💞

    Hi there, Emma! I do know what you mean about hand fatigue, mine get terrible cramps sometimes.
    As a result I have not seen in a while but have turned to cross stitching as it is easier on the hands.
    However, seeing those beautiful shapes and fabrics, is a temptation. I believe you are right, a little here and there is the answer.
    A s always, thank you for your peaceful and calm inspiration!

    Emma, I look forward so much to watching your videos after a long busy day. You have a very natural calm way about you and i am inspired by your beautiful small projects. I’m 1/2 way through making your flower pin cushion and I am determined to finish it (my first ever quilt make). It was helpful to see that you too have unfinished projects that you want to get back to. My main problem is I don’t seem to finish anything! I have decided now that I have a little more time that I will finally go back and sift through my sewing projects and get started again. Don’t worry that you have have had your quilt project since 2020 …… I’m having to go back 30+ years to mine! They are mainly cross stitch or embroidery and this is the year to get going on them again, alongside my newly found quilt making, which I’m enjoying so much. Thanks for the inspiration ❤

      Aww thank you for such lovely words! Really means a lot. I think all of us crafters have projects squirrelled away that are unfinished, I know I have quite a few! The way I see it, if the break you’ve had from a project is years, it will almost feel like a new project again by the time you come back to it! So you’ll get the joy of starting something new again! Thank you for buying the flower pincushion class, I hope you love working on it 🌸

    I've just had a thought...
    If it's hurting your hands and you have other kits you are dying to make, would you consider selling your unfinished Crosses quilt kit on ebay or Vinted? Or in your own shop? I'm sure someone would love to buy it, especially if the kit is no longer available.
    But of course, if you love it and want to finish it at your leisure, fitting it in around your own pattern designing, then that is different ❤❤

    • @emmajonesvintagesewingbox
      @emmajonesvintagesewingbox  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      so far I have glue that's been at least 4 years in the shapes no problem, and its really easy to remove as its just a tacking glue. Give the pieces a press and the heat loosens the glue making it really easy to take the papers out

The glue pens have refills which is good and I’d say one refill lasts about 2 1/2 to 3 hours of solid basting but that’s just a guesstimate as I’ve never actually measured it but it’s probably something like that

    You spoke of Hexiform - is it possible to use it in a quilt that wwas started with paper/card stock?

      I wouldn’t, unless you removed the paper and stuck the hexiform back into those places but that would be a lot of work. It’s also worth bearing in mind that you need to quilt every hexiform shape if you are making a large quilt like this, in case they become dislodged. I tend to just use it for small projects

      @@emmajonesvintagesewingbox Thank you, I didn't believe it would work. Good to have it confirmed. Thank you!

    Very nice. I like to have some long term projects but putting them away is the kiss of death for me. They need to be out or I won't work on them.
