yeah idk this seems suspect. like sure, a dog could form a 1:1 association with a button and its meaning, but theres no way its coming up with novel ways to describe something it doesnt know the word for. animals can communicate but they dont have the capacity for language

My dad's wife (technically my stepmom ig) is blind and she used to have a service border collie but now she has a big trained service poodle. He likes to eat paper tissues, socks, plushies, anything soft lol

Bunny's vids are legit amazing. Even if you break a lot of it down to training, you will find the way Alexis speaks with Bunny is on par with a parent and child learning to speak AND they prove that dogs THINK and FEEL emotions in an extremely similar way we do.
I just watched a video where Alexis says "Love you Bunny" and Bunny asks "Why?"
I’m not sure if it’s legit tho.. after watching that one video of how all those things about monkeys communicating with sign language was all BS. The people who were in charge of translating the sign language would stretch far so that whatever the monkey said would make sense. Example: monkey says “carrot glue door” the translator won’t settle for nonsense so they’ll try to make something out of nothing. And say the monkey is asking for some other irreverent thing. Idk you’ll just have to go look at the video.
With my dog when I was a child, intonation mattered way more than words. Yes, I believe she understood words too. But the intonation was the superior. I could yell “you’re a good girl” in a nasty tone and she’d cower. But if I said “you’re such a bad dog” in a lovey voice, she’d wag her tail and be super happy.
Same for mine. I could say "Come here you little sh*t!" in a kind tone, and she'd trot over wagging her tail and smiling. I could say "I love you good girl!" in an aggravated tone and she'd hang her head.
I tested this out with my pups and it's true! it's really up to your tone, and dogs also learn about certain words such as "outside" and "eat"
@@janzkee yep my dog knew what toy meant and it wasn't because of the tone I could say it in a normal tone and he understood right away and looked at me ready for play time
same for humans, there will be some level of the same responsiveness to tone, most often it would show more quickly and meaningfully than a response to the words
@@janzkee Yes, they can learn words- they can even learn phrases like “mommy’s home”, but they can’t really comprehend full complex sentences.

Also "smart" is a very subjective term. Octopi are far smarter than dogs and so are pigs. To me only humans are "smart", some animals are smarter than others but none have the potential for me to classify as "smart" since this is a characteristic wholly filled by healthy humans.
@@mikeluna2026 True, my dog is the smartest dog we have ever had. She knows a lot of words and picks up a lot from idle conversation. There is so much more to her. Her full younger brother on the other hand is one of the dumbest dogs we have ever had!
My dog is relatively smart (she learnt to knock on the glass doors leading into the garden when she wants in), but she's too lazy. She's one of those Northern breeds that were bred to be independent I think. My mum was complimented how well she still managed to train her. The dog is most of the time pretty obedient. My mum basically just trained her A LOT, staying consequent, even when she looked cute, but on the other hand training involved stuffing her with lots of treats (she would get less normal food then). Our dog is pretty food driven, so that works. And my mum still trains her at age 8. They started Agility together, something that our dog was always inclined to do (she loves climbing rocks or balancing on cut down trees for example), but my mum never had the time until now.

There's a video on here of how a guy was able to train his lace monitor lizards with operant conditioning. Interestingly, the lizards started teaching themselves to gesture when they wanted to be let out with a wave. All he was doing was training them to stand on a box and wait, then put their arm on his hand so he could lift them out. They taught themselves to wave based on the motion of putting their arms on the hand.
It's enough to make you wonder if the buttons would work for monitor lizards and tegus, too.
Maybe even birds that can't speak very well like pigeons, chickens and ducks. And what about pigs?
How would society as we know it react if we started teaching food animals how to use these buttons to talk back to us?

I tried to teach one of my dogs to do this. Her name is pearl. She walked all over the buttons until she found the one that said "pearl" and began repeatedly pressing it, looking concerned in the process.

I never realized just how smart dogs are until I hung out with a friend who trained their own service dog. They could give her what seemed to me to be ambiguous commands-- "find the car" in a large zoo parking lot, and "find coke" in s grocery store-- and the dog could do it. "Ambiguous" not bc it wasn't clear what was wanted, but that the goal was not in immediate sight. Both instances, afaik, the dog had been to the place before, and could likely work from memory to some extent, but I'm still not really sure how she identified the cola section.
@Klgeit the dog wasn't mine, and idr the exact details... it might have been a story I heard from the friend a day or so later, even. But they had a bad migraine, but still needed to do things, and needed that caffeine/ sugar combo to function through the pain. So at the entrance of the store-- a small grocery, not much larger than a gas station's shop-- they said to find the coke. After that it became a task to do, but the first time the handler wasn't exactly expecting their dog to find it, but needed some help getting in the right direction, at least, but they looked up-- lo and behold, the red label.
On describing the story I'm now almost certain I wasn't actually present for it, bc I'd have been willing to lead myself or just run and grab it, lol. Memory is a fickle thing. But I think I heard the story the next day, & this friend was typically very literal with their descriptions, not sure I ever knew them to exaggerate, but my memory has already proven unreliable so lol
@@jbird4478 I think they could probably learn to distinguish a specific brand too after all it is not like they need to understand the logos contain words or anything. They merely need to learn to recognize one of them by sight I bet if you were to put a bunch of assorted cola bottles out give the command and reward them when they go to your favorite brand and tell them no if they go to one of the others it would learn to look for bottles with that logo on. It's probably only learning x pattern good other patterns not good but it's still learned to discriminate the desired item. Same to be fair when it comes to commands like find the car can use cues including appearance and smell to distinguish the car is has been trained to find from other cars.
@Klgeit Dogs can identify a scent through the thickest packaging. I mean, they can smell people buried several metres under the snow/ruins, so your dogs can probably smell the treats, but after a while they obviously also remember the location.

Simply ignoring bad behavior doesn't always work. I took one of my pups to an obedience class and that was the training fashion at the time. She'd jump on me, I'd ignore her, she'd sit, and get a treat. So guess what she learned to do. Yep, she'd jump on me and then sit. When I started gently discouraging the jumping, she learned very fast not to do it at all.
Honestly think the treat is the problem here. The 'reward' should simply be your attention coming back
@@thethirdtime9168 it didn't work that way. Ignoring bad behavior allowed her to continue with the bad behavior regardless of the reward. It definitely wasn't the treat because when I changed to either stopping or discouraging the bad behavior, the bad behavior stopped.
I'm gonna have to nitpick here: Pavlov's experiment started out as research into dogs' digestive systems. He stumbled across classic conditioning through his research.

Now that we're already on a tangent, a not so fun fact: the measure of salivation was not from simple drooling from the mouth, it was from a tube connecting a container directly to the saliva producing glands. This experiment was being repeated in humans as well.

There are videos of her saying "Why dog" and "Who is bunny" It's very sad to see how when we give animals the ability to communicate, they become self-aware. Because of this, Bunny is currently on antidepressants to help with her struggles of self-awareness and doggy depression. Just like Bunny said once, "Big sad"

You should look more into how prong collars versus chain collars actually work because you'll be surprised at the functionality of which one chokes more and applies more pressure to the trachea and results in tracheal collapse more frequently. Any tool needs research to be used properly, flat collar and prong collar included and neither should be used unless properly fitted and trained to be used by the dog and the OWNER most importantly

@@rimjhimdhusiya699 I have no idea. It's likely a deliberate choice by the creators to stay on theme with descriptive names. Brew likes coffee, Chill is normally calm, Grill is often heated, and Spill is described as someone who "likes to spill her tea" (I.E. gossip).

Choking colars are not meant to be pulled. It should just grab the dogs attention back. When they try to move away, they will feel a bit of pressure, notice they were not paying attention, and get back close to the owner. This is not bad, choking colars are not bad. They are misused, yeah, but thats not a reason to say in a video they shouldnt be used.

The real challenge is to change the order of the sound buttons and see how the dog reacts to getting the wrong audio cue from a button they think should be the right cue.
So you say that if a dog tries to figure out what is the right audio the dog would "speak" .
@@deltamico if the dog could audibly tell the buttons are mixed up and then figures out the correct ones, i would say thats a stronger indicator of the dog understanding the word.

I'm an animal behaviorist and let me say this... A dog has the learning capability of a 2 year old with mentality of a teenager. The mentally part is like this...u put a plate of cookies on the table. You tell the 2 yr old toddler No and point to cookies and do the same with the dog..YES THEY BOTH UNDERSTAND. WHAT NO MEANS. Now u turn around and are not looking at them or table. The 2 yr old does not yet understand u are not watching..BUT the dog does..they dog will while carefully and slowly move to grab a cookie all while staring at you to make sure u cannot see. That's the teenager!!! And with that knowledge that is how we communicate with our fur friends!!

The ones in question get tighter the more the leash is pulled, meaning the dog essentially starts choking itself, which the dog recognises is kinda not a good thing and so they stop.
In theory at least.
Its a tool if you can't control you dog due to size is how I usually see it being used. Dogs still have primal instinct. Choke collars aren't inherently bad imp.

Now, I don't know much about dog training, but I know a bit about cat training. So here's a little, unrelated story that I just wanted to share.
So, my cat loves going outside. But he can't go outside by himself, so we just attach a leash to his collar and take him out for 15 - 30 minutes every day. And eventually, he learned the word "walk." We don't have the buttons, but he recognizes leashes even if they aren't his, and reacts to anyone saying walk. We have a little rat harness that sits on top of the cage of our two rats, Cola and Mentos. And I picked it up to throw it away because we didn't need it anymore. And as soon as I picked it up, OJ (my cat), jumped up on the cage and meowed repeatedly.
And a shorter story, eventually we figured out that when he needs his litterbox cleaned, he knocks over bathroom related stuff, like toilet paper.
I buy my dog these peanut-butter ice-cream/popsicle treats from my ice cream truck every friday. She adores them.
It's very adorable how every time we hear the ice-cream truck music she runs to the door very excitedly. It is SO CUTE.

It’s also used with children with autism who have trouble communicating how they are feeling, words including emotions and desire like leave to somewhere quiet.
(Unrelated but cool, babys brains develop so they can understand language long before the can talk and communicate back fully so some parents teach the baby’s and learn themselves a simplefied sign language similar in execution to the dogs and buttons and can have conversations with their baby, it helps the child share what they need in a simpler less stressful way then crying and it helps them connection and communicate better and faster, some children can continue to use sign language and learn more while other stop and eventually forget after learning to reliable speak)

Ehhh.... I've seen some stuff that says dogs have a working IQ of a 5 year old.
I've also met some pretty articulate 5 year olds.
It really comes down to how useful having and maintaining that language is for the dog. If the TikTok dog is making money and getting steak because of language... it's probably important.
Our cat can say "yaw ko(don't wanna)" realistic enough that we sometimes get stopped going to the vet. They think we stuffed a toddler in the cat carrier. Same cat has a Filipino vocabulary of 3 phrases.

Although they may not know the actual meaning they still can communicate quite well for the very simple things like food, water, and outside.

We have six dogs, and i would ask them a question and then establish left hand is yes, right hand is no, and let them pick.
Most of the time its correct.
Like, if one of the dogs peed on the wall, or chewed on a shoe, you can ask them which dog it is, and go through each dog like "is it dog A, yes or no". They would normally tell the correct answer.

I do agree that choke COLLARS are bad, but something like a Slip Lead is ment for control of the dogs head, not choking them. And you have to use it correctly too, and make sure you get one with an anti choke buckle so it DOESNT choke them.
The Wolf theory only goes so far I have known wild canines like coyotes and wolves and I have befriended both one when I was a child and the other when I was a teenager neither hardware to neither were hard to befriend and one ended up saving my life and showing me the way out with dangerous situation that was the coyote.
The one with the wolf was when I was about 5 But that’s another story. A friend of mine who is Native American says Maybe they’re my spirit animals. I correct her and tell her I’m not Native American and therefore do not my spirit animal they are just creatures that I can commiserate with in certain situations that have affected us both.

From my knowledge of psychology, I would suggest words as similar to dog sounds as possible. We have already noticed that animals respond to music that matches internal biological rhythms, and an important facet of memory is the ability to recreate past experiences to reinforce them. Memory is usually tied more strongly to things you can recreate (which us why you subvocalize when writing or thinking to yourself). I'm certainly no expert, but I would postulate that short, single syllable words with few paired consinents, or paired consinents that correspond to a single sound, would be easiest for a dog to learn. That's not to say that a dog couldn't learn longer or more human exclusive sounds, but it might take longer.
Easy word examples: beach, ball, walk, go, door, here, food, car, come, laugh, sad, bed, run, ouch, itch, squirrel, bug, cat, dog, pet, bark, gass, floor, round, etc.
Hard word examples: smile, messy, same, soft, something, silly, fly, shell, mistake, sleep,etc
Interesting words (words that are compounds of sounds similar to those a dog may be able to articulate in succession): stranger, outside, listen, carpet, puppy, master, corner, collar, water, hungry, question, nothing
I don't actually know if a dog would be able to conceptualize the ideas 'question' or 'nothing', but it would be interesting to find out.

If we ever perfect the Brain machine interface we can cybernetically enhance our pets to speak, if they have the intelligence to do so. If we got the whole white laser thing to work, they wouldn't even need surgery just some sort of head wear that makes close contact with their skin.

What happens if a contact is in your eye for a long period of time? Can you make a video about contacts brew please I got curious about what would happen if a contact is left in your eye. I know people always say not to sleep with your contacts but I always wondered why.
I’ve gotten lucky with mine. I have a horrible habit of forgetting to take them out.
There’s been people who have lost part of their sight because the contacts allowed an environment for bacteria to grow.

Pavlov didn't actually use a bell that was another person experimenting with same type of conditioning experiments pavlov found Bell sound wasn't consistent enough in pitch each time to get exact results so used things like metronome so not only would he get same pitch everytime but also he could differ timing to see if they could recognise the right timing in associating with different things.
So my parents use positive punishment and negative reinforcement which is problematic... lol
