Nice video, but there’s one small part you missed out, so I hope this helps So basically if the frequency of the incident light is EQUAL to the threshold frequency, the electrons will get unbounded, but they won’t be ejected as there is no extra kinetic energy for the electrons to use to move out of the surface On the other hand, if the frequency is GREATER THAN the threshold frequency, then the electrons will get ejected, as the excess frequency will get converted into kinetic energy, and hence the electron can escape with any sort of velocity, depending on how much higher the frequency is. Hope this helps! :)
I have to say that your videos have been great thus far. I am a straight-A student at OSU, yet my Engr. Chem. course is beating the living **** out of me. I just need to pass this course and I am guaranteed as a Mechanical Engr. major. You are much less arrogant than my professor, and you seem to focus on all of the important information exclusively. Thanks for all the help.

Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, this is an excellent explanation and analysis of Photoelectric Effect, Work Function, Threshold Frequency, Wavelength, Speed and Kinetic Energy in AP/General Chemistry. Once again, formulas are very important when breaking down and solving problems in Chemistry. The formula shows the relationship between all the great inventions in Chemistry. This is an error free video/lecture on TH-cam TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.
Dude thanks a lot, this came in really handy. I was having difficulty in finding the speed of the photoelectron and now i understand it. Thanks a lot, man.😁
At 5:33, when you said "the difference...", my mind just did a nuclear explosion. I was like, "DUDE, That's all?"...I was so convinced that this topic is the most difficult one when my teacher introduced it. Wow, I'm flabbergasted...
You know whah, actully I was seaking for a meditation music and I found this and now I'm calculating the wavelengths and studying phyisics. Nothing is more relaxable than this for me. Thank you a lot for your well-explained Photoelectronic Effect and for your problem solvings. 😉
Hey man thanks so much! I've been watching your vids since high school and I'm in college now. The whole time, your channel has been a huge help for not only me, but my classmates as well. Thank you for everything :)
Thanks a lot 7 yrs ago I won't understand a damn of what you're saying (coz I was still in middle school) thinking about how much time has passed and me seeing myself here is truly remarkable
Workout number. A metal of work function is 6.0ev is illuminated with light if the electron emitted have a maximum speed of 1x10 rise power 6m/s . Calculate the wavelength of light used.
Light is a massless field for all we know. The current best upper mass estimate for light is less than 1e-18eV/c^2. If you want to find the best measurements and estimates for the properties of all the fields of the standard model, search for "particle data group". That's the name of a small group of physicists who compile all the latest literature for an annually updated publication. It's a lovely little booklet. A true labor of love.
Q7: The work function for sodium approximately If just onephoton of ultraviolet light of frequency 1015 Hz strikes the surface ofsodium (and does not merely bounce off). (a) What would be the maximumenergy of an ejected electron? (b) What would its speed be? (c) How wouldyour answer compare if 10 ^ 6 photons of the same frequency hit the sodium?
My chemistry sir says what is there in book it means he just read the book and writedown on the board you guy made easy even i am poor at english 🥺🥺🥺🥺😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
For question 2 when finding the maximum wavelength to liberate an electron. Wouldn't it have been easier to convert the eV to work. Then divide in by Planck's constant to get the threshold frequency (aka maximum frequency of light to liberate an electron). Then convert that frequency into a wavelength using the c=freqeucny x wavelength formula.I also then get 540nm.
Intensity apparently only affects the amount of photons which doesn't increase the amount of electrons being ejected. Rather, a light with a higher frequency will have more energy in the photons which will cause it to eject more.
In some way yes, however the electrons being emitted at a higher intensity, will be of much more frequent emission. So it doesnt exactly increase the maximum kinetic energy, however, it increases the frequency of which they are emitted. As one photon is absorbed by one electron. Hence, they came up with the wave particle duality.
i was asking that we are learning about the dual nature of light nd in this equation we are using frequency which is wave nature can u just plz tell me that wgy we are using waves equation only or can we prove it with equations which are associated with particles
if cathode work function is greater than photon energy, what would be the shape of a photo current verses potential graph. Could u please help me out sir

what does unbounded mean?
What is unbounded?
If the frequency was exactly equal to the work function of metal will current flow then?
Please explain this

How did you get 9.97 * 10^-20? I keep getting -3.68 *10^-19....
Question how do you calculate work function with only the wavelength given ?
Is this true
High intensity light ejects more number of photons from a metal surface
this feels alot like physics. Is this just concept where it's a mix of both?
Because it is physics
No it's just chemistry
This is the hardest topic in physics…. But simply I just understood it like that
im pretty sure its chemistry (atomic structure) and not physics..

4.59 x 10^-19

does he have a formula sheet attached for these types of videos?
