    Nice video, but there’s one small part you missed out, so I hope this helps
    So basically if the frequency of the incident light is EQUAL to the threshold frequency, the electrons will get unbounded, but they won’t be ejected as there is no extra kinetic energy for the electrons to use to move out of the surface
    On the other hand, if the frequency is GREATER THAN the threshold frequency, then the electrons will get ejected, as the excess frequency will get converted into kinetic energy, and hence the electron can escape with any sort of velocity, depending on how much higher the frequency is.
    Hope this helps! :)

I just need to pass this course and I am guaranteed as a Mechanical Engr. major. You are much less arrogant than my professor, and you seem to focus on all of the important information exclusively. Once again, formulas are very important when breaking down and solving problems in Chemistry. The formula shows the relationship between all the great inventions in Chemistry. Light is a massless field for all we know. The current best upper mass estimate for light is less than 1e-18eV/c^2. If you want to find the best measurements and estimates for the properties of all the fields of the standard model, search for "particle data group". That's the name of a small group of physicists who compile all the latest literature for an annually updated publication. It's a lovely little booklet. A true labor of love.

    For question 2 when finding the maximum wavelength to liberate an electron. Wouldn't it have been easier to convert the eV to work. Then divide in by Planck's constant to get the threshold frequency (aka maximum frequency of light to liberate an electron). Then convert that frequency into a wavelength using the c=freqeucny x wavelength formula.I also then get 540nm.

    Intensity apparently only affects the amount of photons which doesn't increase the amount of electrons being ejected. Rather, a light with a higher frequency will have more energy in the photons which will cause it to eject more.

    • @tomrp-yt2409
      @tomrp-yt2409 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In some way yes, however the electrons being emitted at a higher intensity, will be of much more frequent emission. So it doesnt exactly increase the maximum kinetic energy, however, it increases the frequency of which they are emitted. As one photon is absorbed by one electron. Hence, they came up with the wave particle duality.
